Well, of course, in Minecraft physics "structurally sound" is quite different than RL (or other games), but I WILL be digging out the lower levels of the mineshaft, into the lake.

OK, are you peeking at the next videos in the series? =0) This all depends on my getting a good supply of iron, which has been elusive.

Glad you found us, and discovered Pax Dei. If you're a true "Sandbox/Survival" gamer, ignore all the negative hype out there and try it yourself. We're having a blast. And it sounds like you'd fit right in with our gaming community. =0)

I've tried different approaches for choosing the general height of the base. The one I have found works best long-term, is to layout four fence posts 11 blocks from center, and choose the lowest for the height of the center section of the base. The other sections will be only one block higher or lower than that center section. I also like the challenge of just starting where the game first drops me, and making it work. So, in this case, we're having to level the area significantly. And, I'm actually like the way it is turning out. The extra dirt and cobblestone we're collecting will help with building the 3+ other sections which will be in the river, so we won't have as much left over as it may seem.

@@twooldguyz The challenge part is about what I was thinking. I have always thought well planned out bases are neat, I just never can hold myself to the plan, haha.

And awkward if you want to perform an emote on the fly.

Ya...I figured if I have 'em, I might as well use 'em. Hoping to have the crops in and the next couple sections leveled much quicker, but this specific starting block was positioned in a bit more challenging location than I realized. I'm up for it though. =0)

Ya, they've been very responsive. As a software engineer, I can't imagine what their day is like right now. So far, I've been impressed with the game, and by Mainframe.

@@twooldguyz I imagine it's been all hands on deck... surviving on caffeine and chaos.

When I read their posts this morning, bring in the software industry myself, I was struck by the depth of honesty in their description of the issues and the architecture of their game. They keep this up, they may have some long-term, hard-core fans.

It depends on which mission you selected. If the 'Prototype', then any Supreme Decurion gear. Get it to 340, then deconstruct it (I recommend while standing at Hyde) and you should see his mission marker update.

There are SO MANY games we could try, but at our ages, we have to be choosy. ;0) Kidding aside: we have primarily stuck to just a handful of games, though we do periodically branch off. We're always interested in recommendations.

I'm glad you are enjoying them. Concerning the <F> key -- every time I start using that, I get more confused...LOL...moving losing track of where things are moving, and such. Might be that's all part of my losing my "twitchiness".

Very fast hand-eye coordination and response. I just don't have that anymore.

I like that suggestion. I also found a way to "quick-switch" between the tools on my quick-bar no matter where they are located. maybe a combination of those things would make it look like I'm "twitchy" again, eh? ;0)

Heh...without context, I'm not sure which thing I did...LOL. But, I can relate. I learn quite a bit from quality content providers and the younger folks in our gaming community.

I was referring to when you pressed a number while having your cursor over an item, and it popped it into the hotbar in the corresponding slot.

I know!...LOL. I'm half-tempted to use the diamonds now for that, but am pretty committed to holding out and getting outfitted by the villagers.

That is great! I did have an NES (soon after getting married), and played a LOT of Zelda. My wife at the time couldn't figure out why she kept coming home from work finding me playing. Then one day I came home to her playing, and she ended up getting to bed at the wee hours of the morning...ROFL! Sounds like you've made some good memories.

I believe the mod is called 'Jade'. That mining strategy came from a LOT of trial and error many years ago, and is still being changed. I'd be curious to know what you find most interesting about it.

They would spawn within a small area representing the spawn point, so it would be very likely. On a multi-player server, I use the same approach, but set that area up as a base of support for those who join us.

ROFL!! Sorry that caused you concern for your internet. I actually recorded some "end of the series' content, then realized I didn't have a bed. So, I did some editing wizardry. Were it not for the handy timer which JourneyMaps provides, none would have been the wiser. All part of preferring 'Survival' over 'Creative', and keeping things as "Raw and Real" as possible. Good catch!

Oh, ya...certainly "old school". I appreciate you taking the time to comment, and hope you enjoyed the video nonetheless. Been MANY years since I played, so some things may be out-of-date, but still viable for folks (especially old guys) just getting started. Upcoming series' should be more up-to-date, and include interesting at-scale automation.
