    Nice review 👍🏻 , i heard the Neo Vista 2 will have 2 layers of foam. This one in the top, nylon plate and NV1 foam in the bottom.TPU is much better than EVA more responsive better energy return and more durable.I would like Mizuno to switch to the more traditional upper in the next version.

    • @Runnabl3-ed
      @Runnabl3-ed 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Aron, Thanks for post, The TPU in the Neo Zen has so much more energy return than the Supercritical EVA in the NV1, I'm now excited about the NV2 and the possibilities around this shoe. The Neo Zen is right up there with the Novablast 5 as the shoe I will reach for when I want a comfortable soft fun ride with lots of cushion. Will do more runs in it this week to get a better idea of its strengths and Weaknesses. Thanks for your continued support mate and hope all is well with you!

    Great review Ed. As you know I’m a big fan of the Skyward X and have been using it for most of my marathon training. The comfort and protection make it fantastic for long runs, but it also gives back what you put into it and can handle faster paces despite the weight. I’ve now done over 600km in mine and they are holding up well. I agree that the grip is not top tier though. I’ve had to run on some wet and slippery surfaces recently and you can lose a bit of traction at times, but they are not too bad. Glad you’ve “rediscovered” them!

    • @Runnabl3-ed
      @Runnabl3-ed 22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks David! Good to know about durability another plus point! I honestly think they are one of the most complete shoes on the market, yet many just moan about the weight like they are Elite Athletes :) Hope you are enjoying the trip mate.

    • @davidtaylor3
      @davidtaylor3 22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ I agree with what you said in the video about the weight almost disappearing due to the amount of energy return you get with this shoe. While you can still feel the extra weight going up hill compared to a lightweight race shoe, most of the time it’s a complete non-issue. I imagine it’s the same with the Cielo X1 too. People need to get past the weight aspect and look at what the shoe offers as a whole.

    • @Runnabl3-ed
      @Runnabl3-ed 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@davidtaylor3 - Totally Agree! Weight is one of the least important factors for.a daily running shoe, sure it is a factor, but energy return, stability, durability and fit etc are all more important in my humble opinion.Yet reviewers destroy a shoe because it's a little on the heavy side.

    Yeah I mentioned I'm looking to pick this up as a possible speed/tempo workout shoe offering. I went and did a 10-mile progression run yesterday in my Nike Zoomfly 6, and I woke up this morning feeling like the toes on my left foot are broken! Very strange. So the ZF6 are now on eBay 😂 I have also decided that the Adidas Pro 4's are unfortunately not going to work for me so they are also now for sale 😫 Hoka need to hurry and release that new Cielo because as it stands the only shoe I've got is the Adidas Evo SL's which are fine for most workouts but I need to build up a new rotation. Starting to panic a little as London is not far off, and I've not yet committed to my shoe of choice 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @Runnabl3-ed
      @Runnabl3-ed 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Paul! That doesn’t sound good regard your toes 😩The AP4’s are out of stock, so you should get your money back on them mate. The Cielo X2 is rapidly becoming the most important release of the year for Spring Marathons runners, due to the fact that the AP4! Will not work for many people. Hoka better not have messed up the Cielo, trying to reduce the weight so much!

    • @paulmulks
      @paulmulks 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Runnabl3-ed Yeah hopefully the Pro 4 sells 🤞🏻 I'm bang in trouble if that new Cielo don't work for me 😂 I have been thinking about that new Saucony Elite 2 but now worried the foam will be too soft like the Adidas Pro 4's 🤔 Yowana has made a video on it, but it's over an hour long but I've not had the time today to sit and watch a video that long 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @Runnabl3-ed
      @Runnabl3-ed 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The Saucony Endorphin Elite 2 is supposed to be even softer than the AP4, so be wary of that one, the Heel might be even more unstable, The Cielo X2 looks like it has retained the winged plate, which really helps with the stability of the foam, so if you can bag a pair, hopefully that is the one mate.

    Hey Ed, thanks to your input I went with the Novablast 5 as my daily trainer, and I am loving it, I am training for four half marathons over six months, was wanting to run at 6:20 per km, did a 10km this weekend in Novablast 5 and ran that comfortably at 06:05 per km, love the bounce and the softness, I am 1.79 meters tall and weigh 85kgs, I played hooker at school, I am loving the Novablast 5 so thanks very much 👍👍

Every time I go for a run in them they remind me of why I love good running shoes, comfort, Cushion and performance all wrapped up in a fine looking shoe! I also played rugby, but the Rugby league, many because I was a sprinter and they wanted someone fast. I briefly played for the now defunct Sheffield Eagles (Youth Team) absolutely loved Rugby such a great team sport. Good luck with your half Marathons! Let me know how it goes mate!

      Hi Mate! They are brilliant if you are a forefoot striker, but not great if you heel strike. So it really depends on individual preference, they feel like they were made for runners like me in mind, I land on the forefoot sweet spot and I’m reasonably light at 64kg. Need to take my DNE’s on a 5km race, by early impression was very positive.

  • @paulmulks
    @paulmulks 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Congratulations on the PB 🥳 I am really on the fence with the Pro 4's. As a midfoot/heel striker I tend to land more towards the rear of the shoe and I just think the foam is too soft in the heel area. I had some bad Achilles aches after using them for a tempo session the other day, so not sure if I'll be keeping mine? ☹ If I do keep them it will be for 5/10k runs only unless I can sort my gait out when wearing them. C'mon Hoka get that new Cielo released haha

      I’m 100% in the same boat, even tho my Adi Pro 4 are still in the box. I’m heel to mid foot strike and the Cielo X1 is fantastic for me. I have my first marathon in March as was hoping to wear the Pro 4 but I’m concerned about my foot strike and weight (100kg/6ft2) Might have to buy the Cielo X1 2.0 as well 😂

    • @paulmulks
      @paulmulks 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@buntyboomboom2978 Definitely don't wear the Pro 4 for that marathon unless you have at least 50 miles in them prior to the big day which includes a good couple of long-runs in them. That way you will know for sure if you will have any issue, but the problem you then have is if you don't like them you'll not be able to send them back, so its a tough one. I only have 13 miles in my Pro 4's and I am gutted I cant send mine back. I am going to purchase another pair of the Pro 3's as well I think.

    Mate I tried this one and it just didn’t feel right for me, went with the Magmax instead. Love that shoe. Interesting because I’m such a fan of the Mach X2 and Cielo. As you know I’m going up for my first marathon and it’s such an exercise in discipline and restraint. So often I feel the urge to do more than my plan prescribed when it’s so important not to. Glad you pointed that out. By the way did you see the video from Running Warehouse on the Cielo 2.0? Seems to me they changed the shoe quite a bit.. Cheers

    • @Runnabl3-ed

      Hi there! Just goes to show that finding the right shoe is very much a personal experience and these reviews are really just a guide. For example I really like the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3, but the Magmax doesn’t work for me for some reason. I know it has all the Characteristics of a good shoe, but on me it just feels clunky and ill-fitting. Regardless Marathon training, it’s a bit like climbing a mountain, at first you go slow and acclimatise, but once you reach base camp, then you get to the top and down as quickly as you can. Hope that makes sense? And good luck with the training.

  • @davidtaylor3
    @davidtaylor3 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Thanks for the shoutout Ed! As you know, I absolutely love this shoe! I use it for all my easy daily runs and long runs and it’s so comfortable and fun to run in. And yes, I set my 5k PR of 20:30 in this shoe at a recent Parkrun, which was a surprise because I’ve tried many times in my Vaporfly 2 and Rocket X2 race shoes and have never been able to break my previous 5k PR. Maybe my foot strike is better suited to the convex carbon plate, because I find it is capable of motoring along really well when pushed, and I’m able to maintain a relatively high cadence of 180+ despite the weight. In terms of durability, I’ve done over 540km in mine over the last 3 months and the rubber outsole is still holding up well with just some wear at the toe-off point. The midsole feels better than ever and the upper is holding up well too. Overall I highly recommend this shoe to anyone looking for a comfortable and capable daily trainer with a bit of pep when asked!

      Yeah I'm booked on the SDW 100 mile in June 🤮 I did the 50 mile in April last year. Stephen Cousins (Film my run) he wore the Skyward X for the SDW100 last year 👌🏻 I am undecided on what I'll be wearing for my 100 in June? I'm leaning towards the Novablast 5, hoping Asics will release a TR version soon 😊

    I'd also recommend the Asics Glideride in this category - exaggerated rocker, with nylon plate, run 17 miles it feels like 11 - allowed me when doing marathon training to get up to 80-90 miles a week. Not mushy at all, nice and stable, protects the legs, does what you need.

    @Kaisersozze 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Would you say it's unstable for a runner averaging 6min/km (9:40min/mile), mid foot striker? I would like this shoe but I'm worried it may not be good for slower runners. I tried this shoe on and agree that it fits better half a size up like a lot of people suggest especially for longer distances. In comparison AP3 fit TTS for me.

    • @Runnabl3-ed
      @Runnabl3-ed 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! Great question! I think if you can maintain that midfoot strike then this shoe could be really good for you, the foam is amazing, but soft, and the heel is a bit of a mess tbh. If you tire and start heel striking that could lead to some stability issues. I guess the answer to your question lies in where your foot strike will be at the end of a Half Marathon.

      @@Kaisersozzehey. I think I’m a midfoot striker. I used to heel strike but recently I feel like I’m not doing longer strikes and in some videos I’ve taken I see myself landing a bit early. With that context, I used these shoes for one of my base runs recently which is about 143 bpm ( I train by HR and it’ll be roughly about 11 ish per mile pace) and what I found is, I found myself running 9:50-10:30 in these shoes for the same target HR. So yeah this definitely worked for me. I also had the same concern about instability but I didn’t feel that. Of course during walk you get that suction due to us landing in heel during walking. I also ran a 5k race in -11 c and I ran in 28:40 in rolling terrain ( my 5K PR is 26:15 min in flat terrain during my peak marathon shape). Hope this helps

    Interesting topic! I love that there are so many different shoe reviewers, but it can be hard to know who to believe sometimes. I do like to get a few different opinions to see all aspects of a shoe, whether good or bad, but I tend to put more emphasis on reviewers that I trust (such as yourself!) and those with a similar running style to me, such as those on the Run Testers. I appreciate your in-depth and balanced approach because you often mention what type of runner a particular shoe might be suitable for, so even if you love the shoe, you acknowledge that it might not be for everyone. This allows people to make an informed decision without all the sensationalism. Keep up the good work!

    As a mid-foot lander who does heel strike at times I've had to admit that this probably Isn't going to be a full-marathon shoe for me. Like yourself Ed, I need to get some longer runs in them before really passing judgement, but that "suction" noise you described is awful LOL The new Cielo is definitely being purchased now! I was thinking about the Endorphin Elite 2 as well, so I'll wait to see what the general consensus is before pulling the trigger, otherwise I might have to panic buy the Alphafly 3 in time for London :-) Oh and that 5k time man!

      Hi Paul! At the end of a Marathon, you are likely to be heel striking a lot, this is when you need assistance from a shoe the most, so sadly I tend to agree with you about the AP4, even I’m not totally sure yet! Bring on the Cielo 2.0!
