Munster's Opportunity Missed? | URC Fanview 2024, Episode 4
So Ireland have 3 defeats in a full year 1 less than SA , England lose 7 games , but our losses mean we are no good Englands losses mean they are on the way up. I noticed Caolan mentioned just how good Toulouse and Bordeaux are but forgot to mention Leinster who are 14 games unbeaten. I think this podcast is designed to knock ireland not a single good thing to say about the back to back 6 nations.
Haven't listened to the podcast yet but couldn't agree more, that's the Impression I get across the board it's ridiculous, the team deserves more respect., people have short memories.
The old Irish Béal Bocht... Ireland were favourited by bookies I've heard. Thanks for the heads up
Weren’t we second favorites before the last 6 nations. Didn’t all these clowns forecast France to beat Ireland in the first game in France in 2024, didn’t they say France would show up with a reaction and wipe Ireland off the park.
GAVAN HAS NO FACE! He's done so much podcasting that he only exists aurally now ! 😮
Happens to the best of us 😅
Who is going to win the 2025 Six Nations?
The winner of Ireland France in Dublin which I can't call
Hard to see a scenario where that game doesn't massively effect the tournament. Set up for it
Really enjoyed that. Not enough focus on the u20s and Academy prospects. Richie Murphy''s ability to get the young lads to play so coherently, is going to be tough to replicate, but really excited to see them. Looks like some real gems there.
Great analysis
Very concerned about the new coaching ticket. Not sure Doak has shown the credentials needed tbh.
Did Richie Murphy show credentials before he took over? His Ulster team lost at home to Zebre tonight but he did brilliantly at U20. At this level winning 6n is great but what we really want to see are a number of players graduating to professional rugby and ultimately the senior national team.
@jmo8934 he was skills coach for Leinster and then Ireland under both Joe and Andy so I'd say yeah, he had better credentials than Doak
Great video. Looking forward to more u20 videos
Who have BB faced so far ?
Wake up. This year La Rochelle is a very average team this year. 11th attack of the top 14.
Is this channel dedicated to whining on behalf of Munster rugby. Probably the most bizarre pod on the net. Ireland are stale but they’ll win a 3rd 6 nations in a row against one of the best french squads ever assembled against best Scottish squad ever. This guy Caolan is the worst armchair coach I have ever listened to 😂😂😂
Ian Henderson is 32 , etzebeth is 34 mmm
can see them going hansen at 11 and ringrose at 14
I understand Simon does not want to rock the boat but would have preferred more youth. The summer would be more of a youth chance. We seem to play it safe to much
I don’t know safe, would the most successful NH and European team of the last 15 years be playing it safe. I’m guessing a new Ireland armchair coach .
Dont disagree with what you said about Ahern. To ke him being in November pushed Izzy in front of him. Cohesion and mibites in yraining camp is heavily weighted and Baird ans Izzy have seen more time there I don love it but it's consistent in the Farrell/Easterby selection. Delighted for Boyle, Ford ahould be in the main squad but no real surprises. As you said stagnant but more then good enough to challenge and potentially win it outright. That generates the much needed monies that the IRFU need to keep everything afloat.
Same old from Ireland , how we can ever move forward with the same players, gavin Coombes should be in the starting team , guaranteed we won't be winning the 6 nations this year.
How can we move forward, well we can only move forward one place as we are number 2 in the world. We have just won 2 6 nations, maybe you think Coombes will win us a World Cup, I don’t it’ll take a lot more than that. “Same old Ireland” I don’t think so the old Ireland where the whipping boys and the new Ireland have been the most successful NH and European international team for the last 15 years. And that has resulted in so many armchair coaches who really and truly know nothing.
Whose spot does Coombes take in the starting team? Genuine question
Caolin Blade is a real head-scratcher. Like, what is the point? It's not that he's a bad player, but we have exciting young 9s who need experience. Does Farrell even believe we have a chance at the next World Cup or is he not going to bother getting new blood in?
Well it looks like the South Africans are not getting rid of their older players yet, maybe we follow them they seem to know what they’re doing. Or maybe armchair coaches like you know best 😂
@@davidwalker2402 Past your bedtime Daveyboy. Grownups don't mindlessly copy what others do.
@ no we would be much better following couch clowns like you, maybe we should pay you for your ridiculous comments. The 2 times 6 nations number 2 team in the world doesn’t think they have a chance in the next World Cup, only an idiot would say that.
And when i mean Irish Reps, 1 from each province, outside influence is good too but feels like we are relieng on this too much
Everything is money driven now, sad to see IRFU Favouring a province tho albeit Leinster are our only hope, I still feel this is sad as i remember being a young munster fan and watching us winning european cups, Is it that the board of IRFU Needs to be Irish reps Full stop?
To be honest i think you are being a bit unfair here on Leinster. Remind me again . URC, French Top 14 and English Premisership. Euro Champs Cup who is the only team to be unbeaten and have won every single game
Clermont sent over there b team and Leinster struggled to beat them! They are way off there best ! Looks like they will have away games in the knockout stages! Could not win when we had every game at home
Incorrect
Clermont sent over there b team and Leinster struggled to beat them! They are way off there best ! Looks like they will have away games in the knockout stages! Could not win when we had every at home in the knockout stages
That was not Clermont's B team, far from it
Wait up. Leinster are the ONLY unbeaten team in all three leagues. All one needs to do is win the games. In seasons past we have romped through the group stages (as Toulouse are doing now), only to fall at the final hurdle. I’d much rather have battle-hardened troops going through the mill due to tough opponents, which ASM Clermont were. So please don’t lump us in with the other provinces that are genuinely struggling, both in Europe and in the URC.
Unbeaten in the URC doesn't mean much, considering the abysmal level of Welsh sides, of the SA sides on the road, of Ulster. As a matter of fact, apart from Glasgow and maybe Munster, there is hardly any worthy opposition...
Leinster need to fix the lineout very quickly. Not much can improve if they don't. Looks like a systems thing where everyone is to blame.
What are they doing in S&C though? :P
Leinster not playing at their best with plenty of room for improvement. Munster is just not playing well.
Munster players demonstrating and justifying why they weren't selected for the starting Irish team.
Good luck to you with that comment lad. They'll come for you.
Prendergast was ok. Nothing more or less. He’s a work in progress which is absolutely fine
He felt slow, but that is coming from the jump on level. He just doesn't have the time on the ball he has had before. This is incredible experience to get at this age.
Yes the blue media should let him develop naturally. They're a bit quieter this week which is no harm for all involved. They might also want to stop focusing on every mistake Crowley makes and have more balanced reporting on his performances.
Great to get some more in-depth with Quinlan, missed this one. Good interview.
Prendergast played well. Munster narrative will be that their players rescued Ireland but Australia tiring towards the end of the game was as much a factor. Both Crowley and Prendergast made positive contributions and it's good to have competition in this position.
If anything Gus McCarthy was the real success story of this Autumn series!
It's not the Munster narrative. Foreign commentators also commented on the impact Crowley and Casey made. Speedy ball, playing flat and offered a running threat. Ireland looked much more dangerous literally the minute they arrived on the pitch.
@@ondawallfly9427 Australia were dead on their feet. They had a six-day turnaround at the end of a long season. Any injection of fresh players was bound to have that effect. When I support Ireland, I leave my provincial bias behind. For what it's worth I still think Crowley is our best starting ten but I'm not picking the team. However, you can't deny the Crowley's form wasn't good coming into this window. Prendergast did very well in what was his only his second start, but Crowley was very good too. It is great that we have two great tens who are different but can drive each other on.
One big thing I will argue with Caolan here is him saying Leo hasn't gotten it wrong with the young lads. A lot of the Leinster talent has been elevated first by Farrell and only after at Leinster level. JGP was not the starting Leinster scrum half when Farrell decided he saw something in him. Baird had been elevated through Ireland camps quicker than we'd expect from Leinster. Even players like Gus now. It's a massive frustration at the RDS when Leo doesn't see the pecking order as near everyone else does
Great stuff lads!
great podcast
Delighted for Gus McCarthy, Never remember beating the aussies by much. 1 score game unless Ireland can k=get back to WC levels of performance.
Good stuff lads, interesting discussion.
Thanks for tuning in!
To parphrase Sir A Fergusson - always match/better the opposition for effort, and superior class will deliver the result in the end. SAF knew a bit about winning.
Is SAF Joe Schmidt in this example? If so I'm all for it!
Will Skelton has never lost to Leinster alright, just apart from the two losses last year.
Exactly, he's never lost except all the times he's lost
England France Scotland Ireland! First 4 6 nations! Get a bet on now
That tackle was horrible, completely cynical and intentional. Not a good look for Irish rugby in my opinion and I hope he cuts it out of his game.
Interesting stuff lads.
I thought Sam P was awful lucky to stay on but was delighted to see his crisp passing during the game. Perfect game for him to get a start. I think Crowley is still a stronger 10 right now but its good see Prendergast come through that game.
anyone who thinks Sam is the result of a "D4 hype" train have never watched U20s Irish Rugby. Those who did saw the talent on display and wondered if it would step up to test level. he proved, by quite a distance, it does on saturday. true he was lucky over the red but a talent like this doesn't come that often in Irish rugby. Let's get excited and encourage him rather than turn it into a munster thing about crowley.
Implying that other people didn't watch that 20s team is quite the stance
Actually coming from Connaught this is much more a Munster thing, it seems these days Munster would rather whine than get on with what’s in front of them and thats not where Munster should be.
Prendergast is still raw and physically a bit light. However, his potential is absolutely huge. If he can gain experience in the next year I honestly think he will be Leinster and Ireland starting fly half by 2026.
He is good but the lack of running threat will be an issue.
Crowley is the short term starting 10,Prendergast is the longer term starting 10.
I don't think Crowley will be satisfied with "short term starting 10", Prendergast will have to take the shirt off him. Also Frawley seems to have been completely forgotten as a potential 10 on the basis of one poor performance as a sub, despite probably still being Leinster's 1st choice.
I think so
Im really impressed with Cian Prendergast this year. I think he will feature strongly in the main show soon enough. Really looking forward to seeing these young lads in action
This international break means nothing if Leo picks both Byrne’s at 10 for the major games this season. Ireland should be the priority
Injuries has us down to Gus getting a test cap.
Tom Stewart was the last young Hooker capped. He only had to break the URC try scoring record in his second season to get a cap though
❤this Channel because is no SA Irish hate here.
Crowley is still first choice by far by could do with a week off as could Berine Frawley was definitely dropped for last week Leinster need to decide on their first choice ten and who ever that is will be back up to Crowley for the 6 nations. Aiden Morgan keeps playing well he probably should be in as the 3rd option for the 6 nations Deegan's nose clearly doesn't fit in the Irish set up. The pack is massively under performing with no impact off the bench again. This just shows how badly Sheehan and Furlong our missed and for their ball carrying as is Conan' off the bench. Agree re Healy he needs to go after November. Not good for Leinster either continuing to give him 8 mins a match Ryan and McCarthy combo doesnt work so a new 6 is badly needed and Berine needs to go back to 2nd row
