Working on a Kinze 2000 Corn Planter
มุมมอง 447ปีที่แล้ว
In this video we are working on a new to us Kinze 6 Row Corn Planter. It is getting some needed maintenance and some extras too. It is a Kinze model 2000. It is getting spike closing wheel and quick adjusting closing wheel assemblies. We are also putting drag chains on it. #Logear #kinze #cornplanter Also check out a short of this planter here: th-cam.com/users/shortspE3GChTv-2I?feature=share T...

Best video on the subject I've found....an hour after we finished rigging something similar up...for an old John deere
@@PahaPoniesSpanishMustangs thanks
Good video.
Thank you.
Good video.
Thanks!
I'm in my middle 60s and I learned something today! Thx
Good video.
Thanks!
Good video.
Thanks
Starts out looking and sounding like tough plowing, then loosened up near the end. Many memorable hours spent on my old 60, in 3rd gear plowing.
It was tough plowing. There is a lot of variation in the soil in this field. Running in 2nd here. Thanks.
Poppin away 🙂👍🏻
Yep. :)
Awesome job! Love the look of the flatbed. Obviously that truck has spent a few years being driven on salted roads. Great to see an update form Logear!!
Thanks 👍 Yes, it has been thru the salt for years. The truck has a good many miles on it too.
Have a great year, Josh!
Thanks
Good video.
Thanks
Where did you buy your sediment bowl? Or can you use anything that has 3/8'' threads and a manual shut off?
I cant remember exactly where I bought it from. Probably ytmag or stiners. Any bowl that fits will work fine. Like you are thinking. Thanks
The first clip you unplugged how did you do so having trouble with mine?
Slide the grey piece away from the connection. It moves a little bit. Then push in on the grey piece and pull the connector at the same time.
Where Is buy ?
Did you get those closing wheel assemblies off shoup.. mine came with all the parts but i can't figure out how to put it together haha
We got them off of a local guy who sells planter parts. They are probably the same.
When I was a kid and went to bed at night I could hear the neighbor plowing with his 70 a half mile away. He liked to plow at night.
Unbelievable.... I'm Lost for words?? 😭
That’s a COLD job! Good luck 🙂
It was chilly. Luckily the wind was fairly calm that night. Hopefully we get a hard freeze here soon. Thanks
@@logear9015 I have been there before…hoping for the ground to freeze in order to finish and hoping that it doesn’t get covered in snow or blown down or eaten by deer 😳😬. A fwa will pull the picker better 🤷♂️🙂…I wish you the best 👍🏻
@@GeigerFarm thanks

Nice video. I recently purchased a 555H 3-16" plow to restore for my JD 60 or JD620. How many wheel weights do you recommend without liquid in the tires? Looks like you have 3 sets. Did you pull the rock out of your field that your plow bounced out over at frame 6:25.
Thanks. I would think 2 - 3 depending on your soil. I have 3 on mine. Yeah, plenty of rock picking after plowing.
😅
The Green lineup is a long ways from your JD 60 and 70, let alone the price tag.
For sure!
In short you can mute/change sound volumes of either part🙂. Looks like great tonnage 👍🏻
Ok, thanks for the tip! I’ll give it a try.
Nice crop, you must have gotten rain, maybe a little too often but you have moisture.
Yeah, we finally got rain. Then it never stopped. But it turned out good. Thanks!
What was the tube you removed at 3:58
It is a tube that takes air down to the manifold. It doesn’t go back on with this kit. Thanks
I have to say, I spent a lot of afternoons on a 60 plowing, with the exact same 3 bottom plowing. Seems like yesterday. Nothing like a 2 popper. Sounds good!. Like music.
Awesome! Thanks for the comment
Good video.
Thanks!
This spring after we got done planting we seen a crack in the middle of the frame. We welded it back together and are going to sell it. We just looked at a 1770NT John deere center fill 16 row planter and are most likely going to buy it.
It’s always something. That would be nice. Thanks.
It's about time you posted.
Good job, looks great and sounds great, thanx
Thanks
3-14” or 3-16” bottoms? Now you have dragged that plow enough to realize the benefit of a RH fender as I mentioned before. It’s tough to stay in the seat. The Ol’ 70 diesel sounds good.
3-14”s. Yes, definitely, especially on the downhill side. It does sound really good. The audio didn’t record on a couple of the clips. Thanks
You could use rain, that is some tough dry ground. A clamshell fender on the right wheel of the 70, gives you a place for your right hand to brace yourself when plowing deep furrows, especially when plowing for long hours.
Yes, we do need rain. Combination of basically no snow this winter and a dry spring has everything really dry. That would be nice to have. The seat shock and rubber mounts need replaced too. Thanks.
@@logear9015 If you have a seat with a shock absorber and rubber mounts, that is a seat off a 720 or 730.
Hum, well it must be then. My 60 is a hard mount seat. I think if it was redone, it would be pretty nice. Thanks for letting me know.
@@logear9015 From some of the comments I’ve seen on the 2 cylinder sites, the rubber pieces are a pain to install
Making marshmallows
Yep. Lol. :)
I like your American flag bale wrap
Thanks. 👍 Its a nice touch from the wrap manufacturer.
Missed your videos. Welcome back. Keep them coming from South Central PA. Franklin County.
Thanks!
I see it is the same. :). How do you like yours?
Uhhh, you have my planter there👌🙂
I rebuilt my 4430 breakaway couplers, for me it was worth removing the complete remote from the tractor. But my shop is not the brightest, and I have sausage fingers. The last one I used a ISO conversion kit from Waspi Innovations. Easiest, fastest and (hopefully) longest lasting option.
Pretty common to see 7 and 8 series diesels parked on ramps for starting back in Michigan during the 80's. Pony motors have their advantages for cold weather but converting to electric start definitely has it's advantages.
Yeah, I can understand why. Even if it was running, gotta keep putting gas in it every couple of starts. Lol Thanks
Any code throws like EGR problem?
I did not have any problems with it throwing codes. Thanks
Doesnt the pony run? Memories, we had a 70 when I was a kid. How long ago, dont ask I cant count that high.
No, unfortunately it doesn’t anymore. That’s awesome. Lol, time flies.
It was traded in when I was 10, I drove it on the dealers truck. I never did much on it but I remember the flywheel wouldnt stay tight. I am sure you will make a winter project of it and make it like new. Those engines are pretty simple.
That’s cool you remember it. They are know for flywheel issues. We have considered putting electric start on it for now, then eventually rebuilding the pony. Would make it nice for using it in the field.
I will never understand NEVER why so many people who publish videos think you need to put some kind of stupid music on them.I come to see and hear the tractors!!!
That's a nice tractor what do you run on it
Thank you. Just came off the manure spreader. All around work horse for us really.
There’s times I wish I had paid more for those vertical beaters 😉🙂🙂
They are nice, especially for spreading on hay ground. thanks
Good to see you’re still around Josh.
Still around here. thanks
Great video my friend nothing kills a Honda your videos are awesome can't wait to see more take care God bless
It's about time you posted one, but it sure was short.
Trying to upload this one as a TH-cam short. lol
How come you're only plowing one way and driving clear back again??
This is just a small area so I was plowing one way to only have one dead furrow. Thanks
What size plow are you pulling? 3-14?
Yep, 3-14s. Thanks
that 1st gen in the background 🤤
Lol. Thanks.
Is this a 3 14” or 16”?
It is a 14. Thanks
Just got a 4440 and the hydraulic couplers leak. Can you explain what an "ISO" conversion is?
ISO is a type of fitting. They are what most equipment comes with now days. Thanks.
