Farming in Utah with The Drunken Bull Ranch
In Jan 2021 we bought 10 acres to raise our family and teach our children how to be self sufficient so they can grow and process their own food.
We’re just a small farm aspiring to be ranchers. We use both traditional farming methods but are switching to regenerative farming to raise healthier animals and grow nutrient dense foods.
Currently we’re expanding our learning of farming with our cow, pigs, turkeys, broiler meat and egg laying chickens and a few puppies.
Join us while we figure things out one mistake at a time.

Our Little Work Van Is Done & We Love Our Vevor Carport
Our 2012 natural gas Ford Transit Connect is heading to the junkyard or may be pieced out, we’re not sure which. We used it for 3 1/2 years and it did save us a lot in fuel because I drive so much for my day job. We’ll have to find another alternative soon.

Our water heater was having issues and not producing enough hot water like it should. We have hard water and it builds up a lot of sediment over time. We decided to replace it with a 50 gal AO Smith before it got any worse. #waterheaterinstallation #waterheater #AOSmith

Amazing view and site to see, thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
simple solution and maximum affect good job, building one also thanks
Look forward to seeing it run
Doing great I think
Send in the hogs they will grade the soils for you for free and make loads off rock piles for you and you get bacon 🥓 😊
Been awhile, good to see you back
I have the same problem with the same size rocks. Bazzilions of them. I have Popeye arms from raking windrows of them every few years. The more I rake, the more that come to the surface... I saw a nice contraption a guy made out of rebar that was nicely bent and built, for dragging behind his wheeler in his horsey arena, but the bucket got heavy fast and I can't make the turns required. So I was scheming to do what you did on my Bobcat rock grapple bucket. I was going to use a gravel sieve bolted into the rock grapple bucket and then make a consumptive rebar set of teeth like a bucket tooth bar so when it got bent or broken, you just weld another tooth into place... But alas, my mind works faster than I do... Maybe this year... Point being..., Nice work and you gave me some inspiration to get it done!! Thanks.
350k for the house and land?! Man!! I’m in northern Utah (sw of you a little I think) and can’t get 5 acres for less than half a million (of just land). Throw a house on it and it’s pushing a million! Saving like crazy and hoping the market comes down.
Yeah, it's rough right now. I would like more land as well. But the price tag is staggering.
Love that little wider, you can drag it around with one hand no problem works well even in thicker stuff beyond its rating, you just slow down a little bit and zig zag very very slightly. Didn't even struggle with 1/4"
Now you know why families had 8 or 10 kids. To pick up rocks.
You had some luck on your side moving him 😂
Hey mate I am planning to buy a MF1135 with bucket. Would that be enough power to remove big rocks like yours ? I have mostly limestone
@josebohorquez2633 that should be plenty of horse power.
LS do not support their customers, hard to get parts
Lol! I love Wilbur! 😂
What refrigerant did you use?
@@thomasoverfelt1529 my tractor calls for R-134
Yum 😋
It was!
Some people need the exercise. They have nothing better to do except waste time. there fore picking up rocks gives them something to do.
That's great! thank you for sharing this This will be so helpful for so many people including myself!
I would rather move 10 hqnd lines of pipe and clean 3 milk barns dig a bunch of post holes by hand than butcher chickens. great video Reed
Why?
One day I’ll get some hay equipment
Never blow a filter from the outside in, even if tempted
You're making me hungry! I'll have try this one out..
Nice advice about spending time with your kids.
It's a year later ... What the update? How did you like the screen on the bucket? How did it turn out?
@robertpsargent it's been working great. There are several video's that show us using it now.
Dang looks good!
roll them in no?
A lot of work for sure
Great idea and work. What about a rock crusher that turns the minerals back into the soil.?
My broilers seems so small right now at 7 weeks compared to what I see online
@adventurehippie0514 broiler females can take longer then males. I process the males first and let the females go a bit longer. Also make sure you are feeding them plenty of good quality feed. I use at least 18% protein feed. Mine usually weigh about 6 lbs after processing. Thanks for watching.
@thedrunkenbullranch mine are about 7 weeks right now and I'm feeding 22% modesto milling broiler feed. I only have 2 males out of 10 the average size right now is about 3.5 pounds I would guess.
@adventurehippie0514 You're right. That seems pretty small. Out of curiosity. What breed of birds are you raising?
@@thedrunkenbullranch cornish crosses.
@adventurehippie0514 Most of the time it will take 8-10 weeks for them to reach 4-6 lbs. I would bet that they will start packing on the weight soon. Be patient. It will happen.
I wouldn’t be afraid of a South Korean built tractor, have a Hyundai sonata car that has been great, that being said I just bought a kubota m4-071 used 450 hours because….. there are just no LS, tym dealers in my area. Know I paid more, but I have a strong dealership 25 miles away and when looking for used ones I’m very aware that they hold there value. But… if there had been a dealer in the area, I would certainly have looked. Good luck with your LS, and unfortunately a tweaked loader will never be quite the same as I’ve been there done that😢😢😢
Is it noisy in the cab? Mine came with a full hard cab I took it off was so loud
I would say it is quieter than most units I have been in. At low speed, it is really easy to carry on a conversation with passenger's.
I like week 1 and week 8😅
I have exactly the same looking field. It's been driving me crazy.
@steveknowlton4632 it's still driving me crazy. Around here, rocks seem to procreate.
@@thedrunkenbullranch Rocks do supposedly rise to the surface over time? Brownian motion.
Cheer~~dragged over plowed land 😊
Great review! I have a 2023 wolverine x4 850 what a beast! Love it!
What size is the woven wire screen?
These motors were junk new Arctic cat only gave factory warranty for six months they didn't even bother to tighten clamps on intake mine was junk at 600 miles don't ever buy one had four friends not one lasted over 2000 miles
You got a lot critters lol
Thanks and say Hi to Zoe.
The trick is to pick the right day of the week. Wayne (Letterkenny) says Sundays are for pickin rocks.
Yay! Wilbur!!!!!!
Working them hours plus trying to have family time and the homestead, I get it in the same boat
@mossman7527 The struggle is real. It can be hard to find the balance.
Works only in dry soil
@hans9550 yes you want the ground as dry as possible
That’s great one day I’ll get there
Where di you get your screen? What size and gage is it? Great idea.
Honestly I don't remember where I got the screen. It's been floating around our place for years. It has approximately 1 inch squares and is about a 1/4 inch thick. I'm not sure of the guage. Thanks for watching.
I just gave you a virtual high-five. I stumbled across this video, looking for some way to pick up rocks. I have the same rock bucket and spent days doing the same thing. I made the mistake of showing my wife the video. She said" you're a dumb ass" and walked away. Heading to the metal shop in the morning. Thank you sir!
@Scott-j8s I feel your pain buddy.
