Silly question but could a hive be moved into a greenhouse as an extension to give the bees space to “use the bathroom”? Like a hive on wheels so you can then move it back outside during a thaw?
People have tried to use honeybees to very little success for pollinating in closed greenhouse - apparently bumblebees do a much better job at this as honey bees just caught up in the glass of Poly trying to get out.. As far as using a greenhouse just as an extended area for them... the rapid swings in temperatures would be very confusing for them especially for the queen in regulating how much brood to produce.. During winter a cold and stable temperature seems to be best for them!
wow, thermal cameras are amazing! thanks for sharing.
Thanks for dropping by!
Very interesting....who knew??
Bee keepers will refer to "cleansing flights" during the winter. Bees are very hygenic so they dont like to poop on the floor!
😂😂😂
I thought the pig squealing really captured the essence of this Mariah Carey Christmas classic

Hello Robert, don't worry most beekeepers garages are a mess.😏I just got me a Thermal Camera myself, man are they nice in the Winter for Spot Checking Colonies at a glance. 🤫Plus they are fun to play with, it's fun watching the little flying light-bulbs.😂Thanks for sharing, Blessed Days...
They're most certainly a useful tool. On the doubles it's great to see if the cluster is in the upper or lower box. Use it for tracing leaks on flat roofs as well. Have a merry Christmas!
10 years in. Got out for almost 20 years!! Did my parents roof in my 50's. Almost killed me!!
I only do a few roofs a year now. Was repairing a skylight on a 12/12 a few weeks ago. My body is done with steep roofs!
Aww

LOOL
just discovered your channel and am loving it.
Thank you!
Hello Robert.
Hello, friend!
I like comparison content when buying a garden item from two different places.
Awesome! 😂
It’s an engine with wheels you can fit in the truck of even a small car. That’s utility. Not sure how useful, but somewhere, someone is using one for something important.
Fun and dangerous. Two best things for off-road vehicles 😎🤘🍻
We put alot of time on my Mother's mini bike she used to ride to the store. That was 55 or so years ago.
I have a trail 70 with the original paint and a helmet that matches it EXACTLY im a large man i look hilarious 😂
When I was a kid the ymca had a camp on a local lake where they taught kids how to ride those. Started at 50 and the biggest they had at the camp was 100s. It was an unforgettable time of my childhood. Probably don’t do it anymore
They're great for kids. They're also a lot safer than quads!
lol w content

You wouldnt be able to grow in the winter, but tie it down better, and pull the plastic wrap off in the snow. Im sure you could just cover the thing in visqueen after the wrap dies. Use a pvc pipe to prop up load bearing sections and you should be good
This is true - but the fact it requires so much tinkering to function properly is more reason to not purchase it!
I brought one of those about seven years ago, still going strong, tied it down properly, many storms later its still supplying us with our own veg, I'd buy another no problem
Loved it
There's no such thing as a "Temu greenhouse" - they don't make anything, they SELL things. If you look at the site, you'll find a wide range of greenhouses under $300 and yours looks like the shittiest. I've bought lots of excellent quality stuff from Temu. It's all about putting in. the extra 20 minutes to sort through all they offer in one category and finding the best value.
I'm aware they're a market place. I mentioned that for certain things they're great, very happy with some tackle I purchased - this Vevor brand Greenhouse is garbage.
Agreed. Temu is excellent if you put the time in. I've ordered hundreds of things and paid very little in comparison to the cost in my home country. Use the basket to store items to allow the algorithm to show offers on said items. Use the discount cards and other promotions to find the very best deal. The best feature for me is the "price adjustment" in the orders section. When the item you have bought is lowered in price Temu gives you back the difference. Only yesterday I received back enough cash to buy 3 other items. This "green house" is not a green house, it's a Polly tunnel. Such should be used in a sheltered area as the nature of the construction creates uplift like a wing or parachute. IQ test failure. It's a shame our own countries don't offer these market place models as the only draw back is sending our money to China. My partner used to take the piss out of me for using Temu, that is until she saw how cheap the Nail art equipment was, now she uses Temu and save lots of Dosh.
Trust me, that tarp is not high quality. I've seen my neighbor and mother have those fall apart on them. If you try to leave that up for even one summer, it's toast. It starts to fall apart pretty early on. All the little plastic squares pop out. You have to baby the things, but they do work. I got mine for 103 bucks 10x20. But I got it on Amazon, and I waited for a massive sale. My pipes are bigger. And there are extra supports. Mine survived storms that my neighbors didn't. She purchased one with pipes and supports like yours. So basically I tied it down, and surrounded the entire thing with stones. And before windy storms I would close it up, put stuff on the bottom of the door flaps, and go out and check it during the storm to make sure air isn't getting in. Then when the frosts were over, I pulled the tarp down, and stored it in the shed. I used the frame as trellis while the tarp was off, by buying nettings with large squares and tying it to the green house frame vertically. It worked good as a trellis so far as well. Now the cold is coming again. Soon I will put the tarp back on. Let's see if it survives another winter! It was worth well more then the 103 bucks so far.
Not surprised!
chinese cheap manufacturers expect you to do the last 20% of the work yourself. if you add some wooden stakes for support and for holding it down that tent might still do the job.
I clicked on this video solely to say that you need to work on your thumbnail game (if you want more views)
I'll figure it out one day!

Hey, please let us know of your success with waxing when spring rolls around. I had excellent success a few years ago when first letting the tubers dry in the warm sunshine for a few afternoons, then I set them single layer in boxes and simply poured semi dry soil over the tubers, though leaving the stems above that they dry out and not rot, then into the coldroom at just above freezing, in the spring they looked as good as when they went in! My method is of course not feasible for larger scale and as well the boxes are heavy, though fine and all for my fifteen or so tubers grown on my acreage. Just dug a few more today and letting them sun themselves for the afternoon on the veranda, I better not forget about them tonight or they'll be mush after tonight's -4 C, lol.
I find the conventional wisdom that gets repeated "dry to touch" is not quite enough as I can see condensation in the vermiculite filled totes if I put them away too soon. We're drying for about 4 days, dividing and then storing. The wax is certainly a longer process, but it could prove worthwhile if it has a high success rate (with more valuable varieties.) Will see how they fair over winter!
@@abeeforallseasons High condensation certainly is a bad thing, dahlias are touchy things in storage, they can as easily go the total opposite to being completely shriveled up. Carrots as well are another, just a bit of moisture build up and they easily rot, I place mine in layers in plastic tubs with paper towels on the bottom, middle and top layers, then I cover with plastic and check on them often and vent when necessary. Question, do you know your dahlia varieties well, or is this more so your partner's forte, reason am asking is I prefer compact varieties that do not require staking, just is tons other work on this acreage of mine, I know you understand about that! If you grow any compact varieties that are especially nice, can you recommend some? Maybe, yours are mostly selected for long stem cut flowers.
@TRguy64 we have 4 or 5 shorter stem varieties that we won't be planting next year because they simply couldn't compete with the longer stemmed varieties. I can ask my wife the names - if you're in Southern Ontario I'd be happy to give you the tubers!
@@abeeforallseasons Wayyy too kind of you Rob, though I'm a very long distance out in western Canada. I grow my dahlias for garden performance, so yes, the short stems are fine and well, a fantastic front of the border gem is 'Go-Go Orange', a tight mounding plant with awesome lasting waterlily type blooms by the dozen, can carry as many as 50 good sized flowers at time, though some tend to be too tucked into the foliage, but again great garden performance and the plant requires little deadheading to remain clean looking. 'Creme de Cognac' was new this year and quite the beauty as well. I enjoy your channel, you deserve MORE subscribers! 👍
Appreciate the kind words! I have been gardening for many years but am new still new to Dahlias. It's a lot of work - but we both enjoy it very much. Will be doubling the garden and will have over 200 varieties next year. 😅 a few of the short stemmed varieties were liquid desire, reddy and Barbarry red... the bees were all over them as they were all very close together and high density. I'll probably make a row of dwarf plants next to the bees next year.

So how many colonies do you have? Great apiculture environment you have there.
I'm just over 100 now. Great year at my home yard - not the same everywhere else!
Ahhh, I love beekeeping, I just don't like bees all that much, lol. But, seriously, that fresh honey, there's nothing like the aroma and flavor!
