ඇලහැර ඇළේ සම්පූර්ණ දුර ප්‍රමාණය කි. මී. 88ක් (සැතපුම් 54ක්). මාතලේ දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ ඇලහැර දී අඹන් ගඟ හරස්කර තනවා ඇති මේ ඇළ පොළොන්නරුව දිස්ත්‍රික්කය හරහා කුඹුරුවලට සහ වැව්වලට ජලය බෙදමින් ඇදී යනවා. එහි පළල අඩි 70 සිට අඩි 200 දක්වා වෙනස් වෙනවා.
ඇලහැර අමුණ වසභ රජු විසින් තනවා, පසුව මහසෙන් රජු විසින් වර්තමාන තත්ත්වයට පත්කර ඇති බව ඉතිහාසයෙහි සඳහන් වෙනවා. සියවස් ගණනාවක් තිස්සේ නොසලකාහැර තිබූ ඇලහැර ඇළ පසුකාලීනව ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කරන්නේ බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය ආණ්ඩුකාරවරයකු වන හෙන්රි වෝඩ්ගේ කාලයේ දී යි.

ඔන්න අපි අලුත් වැඩක් කරා. අනතුරකින් ඉනෙන් පහළ පණ නැති උන බල්ලෙකුට රෝද පුටුවක් හැදුව. පහුගිය සතියෙ අපි ඒක එයාට ඇන්දුව. තව ටිකක් වැඩිදියුණු කරල අපි මේක ආපහු එයාට දෙනව. ඉතින් ඔයාලත් දන්න බව්වො ඉන්නවනම් මේ වගේ උදව් ඕනෙ, අපිට කියන්න. අපි උදව් කරන්නම්.
