    Blue went ape shit for their guy that came off the line face down with his head nearly in the dirt. O-line should have just layed on him, easy block, but the drill is about hit, drive, and leverage while in the upright drive position. Honestly this drill is pointless when it comes to defensive translation to the field. Defense should be sheding the block, rushing pass or finding the ball carrier. The drill is beautiful when the ball carrier is involved, also one of the best learning and reading drills there is. Teams should just break down in groups of 3 and do this for conditioning like they're running sprints twice a week at the end of practice.

      +Bill Wanke not at all. All it does and show who's got more strength, and in a lot of positions in NFL strength isnt the most important thing.

    • @billwanke1681
      @billwanke1681 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's because you've never played. If you dominate your opponent, you win. Football is a violent game, strength is a HUGE component, as is speed. For interior lineman strength is the most impt quality one can have. Strength, quickness and power. This drill establishes that and isolates the position 1 vs 1

      Let me ask you what's an oklahoma drill? Exactly.

    • @OnlyOneSoonerNation1
      @OnlyOneSoonerNation1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it's pretty close. And there isn't a certain way to do the Oklahoma drill. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_drill "The Oklahoma drill has several variations. The most common involves two players lined up three yards opposite one another. A corridor is set up typically using three blocking bags on each side of the players lined up top to bottom to create a wall, and the walls are spaced about one yard apart. This creates an area of about three feet by nine feet. The two players, at the sound of the whistle, then run at one another and the drill is over when one of the players is on the ground, or if a ball carrier is involved when he is tackled. If a player is able to drive the other player out of the corridor, that also ends the drill."

      its when you have an ovinsive blocker vs a defensive playe and a running back

      Y’all about 10 yards apart “&” in the Of ur team , then they lay on there backs both plaster hop up and run full speed one carrying the ball and if u get past with the ball u win but if u don’t get past the defender u loose

    I just watched the LSU hit drills, and man those LSU boys are much bigger and meaner than UCLAs version. Doesn't mean UCLa wouldn't win a game against them, but there's a big personnel difference.

    I fucking hate this drill, I did this on Sunday's practice. It molds little boys into Men.

  • @ripperduck
    @ripperduck 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a former cornerback, I hated this drill. I would always get paired up against guys 20lbs heavier than me, so I was at a huge disadvantage. Also, it was always against an offensive player, who played off the whistle. Corners reacted to the receiver, and off a backpeddle. When did you ever play with your hand on the ground? We always practiced backpeddling, and then breaking on the ball off that backpeddle. But it did make us tougher, and gave us some measure of confidence that we could at least not collapse when a fullback, tight end or lineman came at us.

    • @gavynklein1908

    Well they didn't get they're asses handed to them it actually came down to the last seconds on a field goal...Also look at the SEC and tell me who actually has a good program for football...bama, LSU, auburn, missouri, and maybe Texas A&M. In the PAC 12 we literally kill each other just to be top ranked in our division Im just waiting for one SEC team to challenge a PAC 12 team they're have been offers but i guess no one from the SEC wanted to take them
