Even the government goes to them for advice, as they are the leading company in Australia for EV tech from what I've heard. Now, let's talk about defective modules. Sure, they might be as rare as rocking horse sh!t, but when they do happen, you'll be glad you have the option to swap them out faster than you can say "lithium-ion battery." And if you think that's not economically feasible, let me introduce you to the concept of "preventative maintenance." It's also worth noting that even with high usage, these batteries typically degrade only 1-3% per year. So by year 15-20, you'll still have around 80% of the battery capacity left on modern batteries. This is a common misconception that needs to be cleared up. Having the option to swap them out for better battery tech at that stage would be nice, wouldn't it? As for the whole "better quality, lower cost packs and improved recycling" argument, that's like saying we should just stick with horse-drawn carriages because they're more reliable than those newfangled automobiles. Sure, we're always striving for perfection, but in the meantime, we've got to keep the wheels turning, don't we? So, in conclusion, while I appreciate your hypothesis, I reject it.

Makes no sense. If you do this due to degradation you will be mixing new cells with old ones. If you are planning this for defective modules you are marketing to something that rarely happens. Better quality, lower cost packs and improved recycling of whole packs will make module replacement not economically feasible.
