The Art of Learning Full - Audio Book
Josh Waitzkin knows what it means to be at the top of his game. A public figure since winning his first National Chess Championship at the age of nine, Waitzkin was catapulted into a media whirlwind as a teenager when his father's book Searching for Bobby Fischer was made into a major motion picture. After dominating the scholastic chess world for ten years, Waitzkin expanded his horizons, taking on the martial art Tai Chi Chuan and ultimately earning the title of World Champion. How was he able to reach the pinnacle of two disciplines that on the surface seem so different? "I've come to realize that what I am best at is not Tai Chi, and it is not chess," he says. "What I am best at is the art of learning."
In his riveting new book, The Art of Learning, Waitzkin tells his remarkable story of personal achievement and shares the principles of learning and performance that have propelled him to the top -- twice.
With a narrative that combines heart-stopping martial arts wars and tense chess face-offs with life lessons that speak to all of us, The Art of Learning takes readers through Waitzkin's unique journey to excellence. He explains in clear detail how a well-thought-out, principled approach to learning is what separates success from failure. Waitzkin believes that achievement, even at the championship level, is a function of a lifestyle that fuels a creative, resilient growth process. Rather than focusing on climactic wins, Waitzkin reveals the inner workings of his everyday method, from systematically triggering intuitive breakthroughs, to honing techniques into states of remarkable potency, to mastering the art of performance psychology.
Through his own example, Waitzkin explains how to embrace defeat and make mistakes work for you. Does your opponent make you angry? Waitzkin describes how to channel emotions into creative fuel. As he explains it, obstacles are not obstacles but challenges to overcome, to spur the growth process by turning weaknesses into strengths. He illustrates the exact routines that he has used in all of his competitions, whether mental or physical, so that you too can achieve your peak performance zone in any competitive or professional circumstance.
In stories ranging from his early years taking on chess hustlers as a seven year old in New York City's Washington Square Park, to dealing with the pressures of having a film made about his life, to International Chess Championships in India, Hungary, and Brazil, to gripping battles against powerhouse fighters in Taiwan in the Push Hands World Championships, The Art of Learning encapsulates an extraordinary competitor's life lessons in a page-turning narrative.

Show some integrity and change your title Jon.
The art of hearing Josh's life story...no useful information here, just an autobiography. You should post the whole book or take this down.
this is just the intro and 1st chapter
Josh makes the push hands match sound like he's in Bloodsport fighting Bolo. Go watch the video it'll make you throw the book away
Krocodockle go play and practice it before you leave ignorance comments
@@bournejason66 ignorant*
he could not make GM that's the bottom line
there is more to life than rank and title
Don't waste time with this
NOT FULL AUDIO-BOOK. Misleading.
Tooooo long. The whole thing can be wrapped up in 10 minutes
lies
Is it a rule in America that you have to take as long as possible to get to the point?
Wonderful wating for next upload of audio book
Thanks for uploading this exempt. It was a good introduction, but the book is even better. Well worth the money.
I wish the title didn't have 'full' if it's not fuill lmao. I'm buying it regardless!
Josh Waitzkin >>>> I fully understand your newfound passion for Tao Te Ching by Laotzu. Have you also tried Chuangtzu´s works? In my native language they´re called "The soul and the butterfly" and "The mind goes North"? Just curious. Maybe you´ve also seeked wisdom in zenbuddhist learning?
hi
thanks
I always love hi m as a coach could anyone know how to take coaching from him
but why he leave Chess when he is a grandmaster??
Josh's apology for abandoning chess. Can't blame him though, the game is pretty pointless.
chess is not pointless it s the challenge to understand the mind of youre opponent great stuff chess RULE
he was not going to make GM that's why he left the circuit was to hard
I look at has games in chessbase vs GM he had no chance
@@MrLeo3780 he probably hit a plateau but its more like he like learning process so much that hinder his potential. For example he dislike studying opening and pure memorization that could stop improving in chess. But to say he doesn't have chance is wrong. He beat a lot of GM like kaidanov, lputian, Roman dzindzi. And he beat in the bread butter of GM which is the endgame. Known IM like eric rosen or levy rozman doesn't have chance is possible because they cant beat regular GM. Even his peer in junior World championship all of the become GM so he should be in the same class but he decided to stop chess and that his decision.
@@MrLeo3780WRONG. Josh was the top young player in the U.S. when a movie was made about him. The movie's success exponentially increased the already huge amount of pressure he had on himself. That's why he quit the game.
NOT FULL AUDIO. CHANGE THE TITLE, Jon. I have the audiobook from Audible and it is 8 hours.
+Jamie Casello Hi ! I am looking for audio book if u can give - Thanks
good to know thank you :-) I want to hear the whole thing.
+Jamie Casello so..... are you gonna post it then?
+Shane Alexander pretty sure that would be copyright infringement. You could pay for it if you really want it.
lol
The title is misleading. There is nothing about learning just a autobiography
Did you read the rest of the book?
It's a great and quite technical as much as an intuitive book about the learning process, with many other sources and theories included. If you find the whole book, don't hesitate and read it. It worths it.
full audiobook ? cant be true
Allan johnsen You are right. I purchased the full version of the audiobook, which is 7 hours 55 minutes long.
NOT FULL AUDIO. true
not full audio book
Could you please keep going? This is not full :(
Mac- what a rediculous thing to say. What about for people who have difficulty reading. You tool!
Audio books is the lazy generation, it's so fucking retarded
Lazy is sitting in couch and reading book instead of walking in park and listening audiobook.
Eduards Normaals Bullshit, this is no books. It's just an mp3 with a dude speaking, it's acapella.
Mac Gyver at yes, the clashing of generations. We are lazy, yada yada. You're close minded.
And listening to audiobooks is a million times better than listening to today's generation of music. At least you're fucking learning something.
Juneval Why would you not listen to music from the 90s for example?
this was great. please finish.
very misleading title, BS.
what a fucking waste of time
Full? This is only the Intro-Chapter.3
