Sometimes a murderer likes to see his/her actions on the news, in the newspapers or on the internet, it boosts their ego and they get a kick from seeing the Police struggle to identify him/her as the killer. They have sometimes phoned the Police with snippets of information, sent letters, or contacted the press and thereby gain enjoyment. Perhaps this is what happened in this case although it would be unusual for them to wait 2 years unless they were unable to, like being in prison perhaps?

I hated being forced to play cricket at school, the idea of catching a heavy ball travelling at high speed that could have crushed your skull didn't make any sense to me so I was banished to the boundary which suited me. One day I was day dreaming and began to hear "catch it, catch it" and just in time saw this cannon ball on course for my head, I jumped out of the way. I was not forgiven for this act of cowardice but I retained my head and thats all I cared about.

I have been "binge viewing" your videos since finding your channel and I just want to say that I find your presentation so much better than those with similar aims.

I once had a dog called Bruno, he was brave and would have protected me if threatened and wouldn't have hidden in a cupboard! Sad story in which all concerned were equally guilty in my view.

Were criminals who were released as in this case actually pardoned or simply released? How can a convicted and condemned prisoner be pardoned if not declared innocent?

It is a hard Welsh sound to make and is best described as putting your tongue in the position of L and then blowing out air gently. The nearest you can get to this sound in English is an L with a TH in front of it. It is a sound with no English equivalent" - Wiki books). It means Tidal House.

I can't help feeling that the postman's evidence, like that of the Volvo dealers in the Renee and Andrew MacRae case, was crucial and if it had been acted on sooner, might have lead to the case being settled sooner.

A very basic clarification for a jury of what is “reasonable doubt” is roughly based on “Blackstone’s formula” which some interpret as… to convict a felon a jury must be more than 90% certain the the available evidence supports the charge, e.g. if they have a 10% of doubt of guilt as not being proven by the evidence, then that is a reasonable doubt, and based on the principle that it is better that a guilty person goes free, than an innocent man is convicted, then they must return a not guilty verdict. In Scotland they have a better system where instead of not guilty the can return a verdict of “not proven”

As soon as I heard the name Goddard I suspected their fate was sealed, he was well known as a "hanging judge" and was involved in many infamous cases including the Derek Bentley case. Your presentation was very well done, concise and clear, thank you.
