Lost a position at the start, but Gary eventually got back to 2nd and ran some consistent laps to the finish.

Lapped traffic looked back earlier on the straight and I expected them to leave me a lane on the inside. Overly optimistic on my part, and I got hit pretty hard as a result.

Ouch that was a hard hit. I lost my brakes at High Plains, fortunately I was able to spin enough to bleed off energy and there was enough runoff

There is a gravel trap there and it's really big when you see it in person. But it looked pretty darn small when he needed it! Also, it probably needs to extend down the track a bit further. Strange.
I don't think he matched the revs when he shifted from 4th to 3rd. When he let the clutch out, the rear wheels locked up creating significant oversteer.

same thing happened to me at HPDE. Brake failure locked up fronts, into tires. After, , only code I had was a wheel speed mismatch, which turned off the ABS. Anybody else?
Something similar but we didn’t end up contacting anything or any body. Rear driver locked up. Entered turn one at barber backwards

I was impressed. I’ve driven on new surfaces at quite a few tracks before, but I don’t think I’ve ever driven on a fresh surface that had as much grip as RA.

I’d love to know the details of this car - the speed equation, as it were. Notwithstanding the driver, I’m curious how the car gets along as it does :-)
The rules in WRL are similar to GTS with NASA - weight to power equation, and then modifiers that require increased weight/decreased power if you have adjustable/remote dampers, aero, big brake kit, etc. We have gone the direction of taking no modifiers, while the other top teams tend to take the majority of the modifiers. We should be slower in the corners running non-adjustable shocks, and way slower in high speed corners running no aero. It’s more work behind the wheel to keep up in the corners, but we have a straight line advantage that makes passing a bit easier.
My description on this video was wrong though - started 10th in class for this race, and end of stint we were 1st in class!
Okay… so are you some kind of professional driver ?!?! ‘ cause you are just amazing… it’s how you hit those bumpy parts of the corners looks and sounds so beautiful - you must teach me the ways of gas, break, turn. I promise I will give you No Excuses :-)

@@ryanstaub6407 probably!! as far as motorcycle racing goes i am kinda slow but getting faster!!! Ever make it to the midwest?? Road America?
@@staubracing I’m based in Kansas City, but the series I race in travels all over. We typically race at Road America the first weekend of May.
