I went with my grand parents in 1969 right after the worlds fair my grand mother saw a Dodge Charger there and got back home following weekend we went shopping locally. She and my grand father brought along her 53 Plymouth to trade in. They didn't get much 4 it not like ya woulda today but the salesman came out on the lot and my grand mother just blew his mind totally. He started by waving us over to the station wagons. My grand mother waved him over to the one Dodge Charger and asked him how much. He said you don't want that its a gas hog it has a big big engine he said like she was simple minded or something. She said I want a Charger in this teal green color with the stripe like this one on the back. She was actually pointing to a Plymouth Super Bee. She says I want 426 Hemi in it. The salesman says I don't know if I can get one. My grand father looks at this older guy he leans forward with a stack of 100 bills in a bank envelope. My grand father just said to him yes you can. I thought the dude was gonna faint. My grand mother got her teal green Super Bee white vinyl top with the 426 Hemi 4spd car with a 4bbl carb. I went with her the day we picked up she had to take a cab the 53 Plymouth was all ready traded in the deal and my grand father had to work a double shift. But after the paper work and plate were on the car we got up on Hamilton street in Allentown Pa and she just dumped the pedal letting the clutch fly. We almost ended hitting parked cars the dam thing got squirrely on her. After we got the next stop light where the cop nailed us & he threw the book at her.... Well as soon as the cop was out of sight she did it again next stop light.... She did about 5 times till we got home the damn thing needed new rear tires already...

Vinyl tops were a 'luxury' item back then. Today, people pay to have the vinyl removed.

It came in red, yellow and copper, but not in orange. But with a list price of about $3600, you could always have one repainted.

The factory price for a Dodge Charger R/T in 1969 was around $3,600. And yes, it came in Bright Green.

100% True, I have been through it many times, after they ask me what extras I want and show me all those jacked up higher priced options, I also give them that those perfect 3 words they love to hear, I want (NOTHING).

We is all dreadin that scenario not just you. I was recently on a lot with a friend and it was not a pleasant exp not at all...
