DIY Tear Drop Part 12 - Installing the Electrical System
มุมมอง 604 หลายเดือนก่อน
Another great project down, we are working on the electrical system for this trailer. I was able to get the bulk of the wiring ran while I was building the trailer so that the wires were hidden behind all of the wall panels. In this video we are adding the final components to the system with a 100aH AGM battery, 6 gang fuse block, and a Renogy solar charger. Next video we will be doing the cool...
DIY Tear Drop Part 11 - DIY Fenders
มุมมอง 704 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today we are making some super simple fenders for my DIY Tear Drop trailer. These are made out of some scrap 16ga sheet metal I had left over from a previous project. These are very easy fenders but will certainly do the job for this trailer. Another project down!
DIY Tear Drop Part 10 - Making an Epoxy Rear Table
มุมมอง 994 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video we are building the rear deck of the trailer, the rear table. For this one we are using some simple project wood for the top, some posters for decoration and some table top epoxy to seal the wood and provided a solid surface for the table. DIY Tear Drop Part 9 - Raptor Lining the Exterior
มุมมอง 1825 หลายเดือนก่อน
Alright we are onto some of the exterior finishing touches of this trailer. Still far from finished, but we are well on our way. In the last video we did Poor Mans Fiberglass(PMF) on the outside and in this one we are coating the entire trailer in some gray colored raptor liner. We also got some of the finishing trim touches installed and are ready to move on to the next few steps! Music Credit...
DIY Tear Drop Part 8 - Applying Poor Mans Fiberglass
มุมมอง 3615 หลายเดือนก่อน
Onto Part 8! Today we are doing poor mans fiberglass on the outside of this trailer. This is a very important step to help seal and waterproof the outside of this trailer. I picked this method mostly for the cost and the ease of installation. Definitely could have done some parts a little better but overall very happy with this and the way it looks! DIY Teardrop Build Part 2 - Mounting the Axle
มุมมอง 2558 หลายเดือนก่อน
Part two of our DIY tear drop build series, this video covers mounting the axle and adding in a few extra gussets throughout the underside of the trailer. This turned out perfect for my needs and am happy with the progress now! Next video will be laying out the frame for the cabin. If you are doing this, make sure you take your time squaring the axle to the frame, keep the frame clamped down to...
DIY 5x8 Teardrop Camper Part 1 - Building a Trailer Frame from Scratch
มุมมอง 9939 หลายเดือนก่อน
In classic fashion, have a trip coming up and needed a camper. I did not want to spend the thousands of dollars necessary to buy a pre built one so decided to build one myself instead. This is the first video and I am making a simple 5x8 trailer frame to build the camper on top of. Pretty straight forward build but follow along for the next one when we add the axle and some more supports before...

Where did you buy the heated seats for your ram and also where did u buy he leather for your seats?
My 2001 Ram has succumb to the dash crumble stage of its life. It is literally down to the rust frame too.... ugh. This was a very welcome video to find. Thank you for sharing!
Where did you order the diy oven controller
is it one power supply per stepper
Your spray technique could use a little help,
So would the work with stock seat mounts?
Trying to decide between this or the MyPlasm from Proma. I think the Mesa route is cheaper but MyPlasm seems SUPER easy and also works on Windows for plebs like me. lol
Looks like a perfect job for jb weld. I bet it would hold up if you prepped it good.
Does the drag link interfere with the leaf spring? It looks like it would when making a right turn. Also, how is the steering? I'm looking at doing the same conversion but mine is a daily driver.
Troy Rood Machine Co. or something
Coming right alone. Can't wait for the loaded tow test.
Good video. This looks like a good channel.
The windows are upside down those slits at the top are weep holes.
I like the two-tone look, it's not something you see everyday. Consider some simple prop-legs for those rear doors, they would make instant additional prep surface if you need it. I'd go for the drip rail over the main door. You're in the home stretch now!
Nice fabrication work. I run over a lot of brush and trees on my overgrown 180 acres of Alabama. Small trees try to spring up between the bumper and the tire, eventually smashing the fenders in until anything is strong enough to get in between your tire and your frame. Same between all wheels and the rock sliders too. Could ignore the rear, but I make my own trails and that requires backing up sometimes. The other thing is large branches or leaning trees that ride up over the hood and hit the windshield, so you need a smooth guide that picks it up from the bull bar and smoothly lifts it to the roof rack. This is done slowly so the forces aren't impact, but I need to push stuff out of my way without getting out in all the sticker bushes. It kind of looks like yours is optimized as a roll cage, which I personally don't need, other than I sometimes knock down a small tree that's holding up a big tree that fell long ago. If I don't notice, I get some pretty big stuff falling on my cab. I never go fast, I'm too busted up to take the beating, so I'm not a rollover risk, which makes me think I could save some metal in that area, over the type of off-road I used to do.
The Wellmade Tear Drop Fenders Look Good .
I need to learn the wiring first, then come back to this. I'll check out you other videos and save this for later.
I know this is an old video but the website is down. Donyou have a copy of the BOM and wiring diagram?
You can use baby oil to remove the bedliner from your skin.
Do you have a parts list? I'm doing an SM465 10 spline and an lm7 5.3 amd im curious what parts you used and some info on clutch sizes Is this what you did? Flywheel- Sachs NFW1050 Clutch kit- Exedy 04081 Flywheel to crank bolts - ARP 330-2802 Pressure plate bolts - ARP 134-2201 Pilot bearing - GM 12557583 Thank you so much, great build!!
180 ounces? Since there is 168 ounces in a gallon, I think you will need some larger mixing cups 😅 Let's just stick with calling it 180 units. Good video. I like your idea of the posters.
Nice, very professional build. I'm also impressed at how well presented the info. Thank you. I would, however, like to get the files that you've referenced. You link states the website is shut down. Once again thank you for your time and effort.
What kind of headers
FUME: A respiratory irritant; small hot metal particulate matter as the result of welding. VAPOR: A respiratory contaminant; atomized gas, resulting from a liquid changing states to a gas do to temperature change or Venturi effect. Oh, that is most certainly NOT a 90 Bronco II. Regardless, not a bad sounding exhaust 😉👍
WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS BUILD ? ? ? ? ?
Obs has the Australian headlights kit i hwve an 89 that been waiting for me to buy it a motor and have a few other things done 😢😢
What do you do to connect the rails to each other (extand the rails)?
Lower the cage top so it doesn’t look like mega kind and extend it to the rear, nice fab skills and I’m a little butt hurt about the mint hood that just got bobbed but it was for a greater outcome
What spring combination are you running in the Sam?
Terrific effort. I have recently seen an aluminum one that is too pricey. Might consider doing my own creation, now the ice is broken. I like the idea of ripping everything off that steel frame. 👍
How much does it weigh without the Hi-Jack? Thanks!
Moving right along!
I had a good alignment shop in my area replace the front upper control arms (bushings were cracked) and install new shocks (Bilstein 5100 with the adjustable leveling rings) a month ago for my 2011 F150 FX4. They leveled the truck, but It’s still slightly nose down, just not nearly as raked as it was from the factory. I then got new tires (Falken Wildpeak A/T4w replacing worn out Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2s of the same size) and had the truck aligned again to give myself a headstart on Houston potholes ( the camber is slightly negative). At low speeds and bumps the new suspension and tires are great but I'm disappointed in the highway driving performance. The truck requires a lot of driver attention to keep it on track compared to previously. I have to make small adjustments as if the steering is loose. It's tiring. Has anyone else had this issue when they leveled their F150 of this era with the Bilsteins?
UPDATE: After 3 alignments, a balance, and a rotation, it turns out the problem was with the Wildpeaks. Falken provided a concession and exchanged for a Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 3 set. Exponentially better performance on the road. The new tires feel stable and firm without being rough. I'm impressed by Falken's customer service, but unfortunately, they need to work out some kinks with the Wildpeak AT4Ws, in my opinion.
Nice 👍. So where is the 1st place your gonna camp in it ?
This Is Good Idea Especially When Living Off Road Grid Trails.
I wonder of making a dash out of "pillow cushins." Foam and wrapped in aplosherty would would
I built a camper out of the back of my 94 Bronco and camp in it often. I just found your channel and I am impressed by your work. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product
Rad! I actually watched your vide just for learning how to attach the drawers to metal instead of wood.
Really love the seat covers need to get some for my truck. Where did you order them from?
Looks great Jake! Did you ever consider in-floor storage boxes near the side door? I always wanted shallow storage, maybe 6-8 inches deep, just for light stuff? Seemed it would have been a great addition for quick access dry storage for the mundane things one might need to get to quickly. Looking forward to seeing your fender buildout and remaining work.
I did consider in floor storage and ultimately decided against it due to my time constraints on this build. You can most certainly do it if you have more time. The way I built this the mattress sits directly on top of the floor and eats up all of the available space. If I were to do anything under it I would have to move the mattress every time to access whatever is there, and I did not want to have any more external doors than I already have for ease of waterproofing. That front storage box that I built in is very large and has plenty of room for stuff and I am planning on making some organizers for it to make access easier. The rear sections will have three easy access doors for coolers, batteries, and camp equipment. We will see how it does during this trip and there may be some modifications on future builds.
@@Legacy4x4andOffRoadYT Yes, your front storage is gi-normous!
The cove is horrible
How far does that center tube come past the 8 foot trailer base? It looks like its around 3-4 feet? so 11-12 foot tube? Thanks
Also do you think I could use 1x1 with both sides at 45 as gussets instead of the plates? I dont have a plasma cutter 😓
With a sharp enough turn (90 degrees) do you have to worry about the back of your vehicle hitting the angled tubes attached to the receiver hitch?
Hey the total center tube was 12ft long, it is an 8ft trailer and a 4ft tongue which I found to be the best for the size. You can certainly use 1x1 to make the gussets not necessary to use the plate like that. Honestly those plates are probably overkill especially if you follow along with the rest of teh build by the time you get all the uprights in and everything else this trailer is very very rigid. I am not worried about jackknifing while towing, with a four foot tongue there is plenty of space to turn about. Of course with any bumper pull trailer there is always a risk of that but it is far more common during reversing than it is during normal driving.
@@Legacy4x4andOffRoadYT Really appreciate the response. I'm doing almost an identical build and am looking forward to watching yours progress!
Be careful when sealing your TD. Ya dont want it 100% sealed. People have died in their sleep . My cargo trailer has 1/4" gaps in the rubber gaskets around the door's. Enjoying the build. 👍
thank you I have heard of this, I am installing a fan on the roof to cycle the air, and there will be a sliding window on the main door that will be bale to slide to create a little cross flow through the trailer. Thanks for the tip!
looks awesome man, i might use some of your design on my truck
Great! I love the look of it
I'm not a welder. When I built my 5x8 I went with a sandwiched wall design. 1/4" interior plywood, 1x2 internal framing with 1/2 solid foam between, and 1/8" exterior skins (all construction adhesive bonded and screwed). Super light weight side and top panels. Fiberglass and resin over exterior for weather protection. I think my trailer came in at just around 950lb empty. I really need to learn to weld. A note on your galley hatch, I hope you have better sealing success than I did. It was a bear to achieve. I wish I had gone with just a simple square and flat back, provides easier sealing and a larger "awning" for the galley. Great work! I think you'll want windows on both sides for cross ventilation, but I'm in Florida and we have slightly different temps/humidity here.
I strongly considered that type of design but ultimately decided this would work better for me with my skill set. Thank you for the tip on the rear hatch, i think i have a plan for sealing the hatch but time will tell. And for cross ventilation I defintely considered adding more windows and I put the steel in the frame in case I want to add one in the future but for now I am going to be doing just one window on the door and the fan vent in the roof. I will mostly be camping in the Northern US in VA/PA and out west in Wyoming/Montana
I tried to hit your website to get the full parts list but the site has expired. Is there an updated site? Thanks, I really like the build.
60/40 rule, I built a 5x8 off a HF 4x8 trailer. It had a rear kitchen and I just moved the axel to 1/3 the length. It towed fine.
Thank you! That was what I ended up going with, just shy of 60/40 and though I havent hooked it up yet it feels very stable on the ground and can easily wheel around my yard.
Tear Drop trailers rule

Thank you Billy
