For its 10th and final edition, Art Encounters travels to the heart of Little India from 2 December 2022 to 2 January 2023, featuring an experimental audio-visual project by AVC-comprising painter Bridget Tay and musician Nazrin Ramlee-that bridges sound/noise and visual art.
In this interview: Bridget and Naz, artists known as AVC, discuss their work "Synapse Intarsia," which explores interconnectedness through different disciplines. They describe the challenges of merging separate arts and the evolution from digital paintings to more physical works. Bridget details the use of two types of circuits for sound production, emphasising their independent nature. They note the intrigue of migrant workers at the Poli site, who related to the materials used. The conversation highlights the interactive and relatable nature of their art, designed to engage a broad audience. They praise the professionalism and support of the Art Encounters team, which facilitated their creative vision without constraints.

Art Encounters by Art Outreach, launched during Singapore Art Week 2020 in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board, is a mobile artist’s studio and gallery housed within three repurposed shipping containers. It was designed to travel to unique sites around Singapore, featuring a new artist and site-specific work each quarter. Art Encounters programme had since ended after a 3 year long run.
