Pump foiling is amazing! I started this new awesome activity in June 2022.
Pumping for a couple of seconds was already an incredible feeling that made it not just a workout for Wingfoil/Surffoil but a great activity on its own.
Two years later I’m capable of things that I thought I would NEVER be able to achieve. My last personal record is pumping for 30min 6,6km long in only one ride after beachstarting… Starting anywhere is not a problem anymore, there are always possibilities. Freestyle tricks like the Superman one are making pump foiling every week more incredible. There are limitless possibilities.
Wherever I pump people are amazed seeing it. Sharing my passion, inspiring foilers, encouraging beginners, giving tips, pushing myself, keeping great souvenirs are the main purposes of my videos :)

Free Hands Beachstart with Wing using Leash | PUMP FOIL #shorts #pumpfoil #hydrofoil #wingfoil
A way of Beachstart with wing keeping both hands free: make a loop with your wing coiled leash attaching it to the front handle and put the leash around your chest. The wind has to come from the opposite direction from where you place the wing while starting. The wind plus you running will make fly your wing behind you. Once you accomplish your Beachstart using both hands freely, remove quickly the leash from your chest.

Few tips on how to control your heart rate while pumping. 1. Relax, feel good, enjoy 2. Save energy: good body position, efficient squats & foil behaviour 3. Constant comfortable speed Don’t burn your back leg and control your heart rate (don’t enter your “red zone” of no recovery) to pump for a very long time using high aspect ratio Frontwing. Gong setup: Frontwing Sirus xl 136cm Kluber board ...
Great Videos! Can you gibt more Info on combining pumpfoil with winging?
Thank you! Yes 👍 would you want to know sth in particular? It’s working well in light wind conditions, with a 3m wing and pump board, 5/7 knots for me are fine (62kg). Challenging is the Beachstart with the wing (wind has to come from the opposite side where you have wing so that it flies behind you) and not falling otherwise you have to swim back to the shore. I will make a video as soon as I can ;)
That's a pretty short leash 😂
😅 this is a coiled leash. I make a loop with it attaching it to the wing front handle, so yes it looks short but you can remove it easily from your chest 👍
Tu dois vivre bien loin de la mer pour t'acharner ainsi sur le pumping ;-) Je me reconnais bien.
😅😅 t’as vu juste !
What board are you using?
Kluber Board 80cm
Вжохновляюсь вашими видео и разными вариантами 👍 Сегодня пробовал первый раз Супермэн. 1 раз из 25 раз , кое , что получилось .

i love the 2 trick i do it all the time
👍 Pumpfoil is so much fun!!! I’m expecting a new record from you on Tuesday, when Austria is playing 😉
@@Ludo_freefoiler ah you remember maybe but i think i wont pump on tuesday but thanks
The main difficulty for the rider is that a gust of wind can blow him off the board.
Man, it looks so easy on you :). Just received my 80cm board yesterday and started with my couch training xD. It is hard to jump on this tiny thing :)
😅😅 have fun!! 👍💪

Thanks for the tutorial! 🙌 will get out there to learn it this weekend 😅
You’re welcome! I hope the tutorial will help you!! 😉💪
What is the easiest way? 😅
“On knees” with this setup (high aspect ratio Frontwing, lot of glide) is the easiest way because you don’t need to jump that high and less scary than the classic version on feet. I will try with a low aspect ratio Frontwing and check if this remains the easiest one ;)
Just ordered the 80cm pump board. I don't have a dock, but a nice lake with at first shallow water with a quite sudden drop off to deep water. I think the chair will be perfect for this. Do you think this technique can be mastered without any knowledge of dock starting? Of course I will put in lots of land training on the couch and gym ball to land properly on the board :).
Give a try! Use a stable chair and protect yourself (helmet, neoprene suit and shoes). Which frontwing will you use? I haven’t try this with a low aspect ratio yet, should be working the same, I will try it next week. Dock is easier but I have seen people learning with success differently when no dock available!
@@Ludo_freefoiler thanks! I have two low aspect foils available, a large one with 1900cm2 and one with 1500cm2, both Neil Pryde Glide HP with 75cm carbon mast. I think the larger one will be more suitable, I have 73kg weight.
@@matija3791 👍 yes use the bigger one 💪
@@Ludo_freefoiler looking forward to the first trials :).
Мне надо худеть 😀
You have incredible balance. Are all those starts only possible with high glide high aspect foils, or also with a big low aspect foil?
Thanks :) that’s a good question! The classic “on feet” with and without wing is possible with a low aspect ratio Frontwing. Next week I will try “on knees” and “on belly” with a low aspect ratio and let you know ;)
@@Ludo_freefoiler thank you!!! Looking forward for your next videos!!!
You start again ? Looks great 🤙🏻
Nice! Is it more exhausting or less exhausting together with the wing?
:) the start is more challenging. When you use the wing you can relax/recover. Then you can pump with the wing behind you to reach the position you want. If you fall you have to swim, so be careful in the manoeuvres. With practice, as long as there is a bit of wind and you don’t lose control you can pump for a very long time since you can recover with the wing
wow i these are maybe the most difficult starts and you combine them
:)
😊😊😊😊😊
❤ ❤❤❤❤❤
You make it look very easy..!! I assume if you fall off in the middle of a pond/sea there is no way to get going again and you're swimming back to shore to start again..? 🤔
😅 yes that it! there is no way to start in the water like that. At the beginning it’s safer to remain close to the shore. With the experience the mistakes don’t happen that often 👍
Круто 😊

Do u think the newest X-Over XXL is the best gong front wing to get started? Which mast length should i choose?
When I started pump foiling two years ago it was with the x-over xxl. I learnt very fast and the price is quite low. According to my experience, to learn in good conditions the new X-over xxl is a good choice! 65cm Alu mast is a good length to get started (the shorter the easier) for Beachstart and Dockstart with Docks almost at the water level. If the dock where you will learn is high, you might need to adjust the length.
Hey, i can see u are not using the titan fuselage? I got in contact with gong and they answered, the titan fuselage is highly recommended for wings over 120 cm wingspan. Whats ur opinion about that?
Hi, I haven’t had the opportunity to test the titan fuselage yet, hopefully soon. I know this recommendation, this is mainly not to damage the fuselage since the loads with big high aspect ratio wings are very high. It depends on your weight as well. I’m only 62kg…
Hello, thank you for the video! What recomendation you have in regarding 'not burning the back leg' ? you mention this a lot. Now with my axis 1401 and skinny stab, i can do 2 minutes, breath / pulse is okay, but i start again to feel the back leg burning. Some mast position change / shimming of stab maybe ? thank you for the content
Hi! Thanks :) You can try to reduce your stance by moving your front foot closer to your back foot so that you can use more your front foot during the squats. Using your both legs almost equally is the key. Do the squats as little as possible, don’t go too deep on your legs. The toes are pointing slightly towards the outside, so back foot toes not in the riding direction. At each squat use as little energy as possible. Currently I’m using a bigger stab, Veloce H 47cm and no shimming. Tell me if it helps ;)
Thanks for this vid! Great info. Might want to list your weight as well as lighter riders will have lower stall speeds
Thanks! You’re right, I will put my weight in the description, 62kg 👍
Like your style. Looks like someone is gliding through champagne powder! Keep going! Smooth af!
Thanks ☺️
Test negative rear wing shims, □do regular, than -.5, -1, -1.5, -2, -2.5. □regular rear wing, do positive mast shim regular, +1,+2,+3 □ try find the tune that allows you to ride with 2/3 mast out of the water, let us know how it works □you already pump far enough so you tune must be good, but i noticed you dont ride high on the mast, why? ■good job on the vids!
Realy smart good job!
Thanks :)
@@Ludo_freefoiler Is it difficult to start like that? At that time I have already start from a paddle, but a friend old it. So it works pretty well. But if i'm alone, I'm interest to build your board holder. do you think about some improvment of your conception? thanks a lot for your reply. enjoy 🤙
@@clementbn820 I also started on a SUP board with someone holding it behind. But with the board holder this is quite easy. It worked for me on the second attempt and is working now all the time. Hi, merci :) Je pense que les deux Frontwings sont assez comparables. La Sirus xl fait 136cm. La léviathan est une bonne aile. Tu tiendras de plus en plus longtemps avec la pratique. 2min c’est déjà une bonne base :)

Awesome execution 👏 Would you make a tutorial video on how to learn that? Been having a go at it for some time but can't figure it out 😅
Yes I will do it ;)
How did you learn so efficiently? I started in October 2019, 65 sessions and I can barely pump 5 seconds. When I started I had a good kitefoil experience (100km+ sessions) and since october 2019, I've learnt wingfoil and found it easy. Did you took lessons or something?
I haven’t took any lessons but watched a lot of videos at the beginning. I give you some tips, I hope this will help you. Don’t give up! 1. Start with a beginner dick low aspect ratio frontwing (2000cm2, 100cm). 2. Dockstart as first start. 3. By lightwind in Wingfoil use your pump foil setup (mast, frontwing and stab). Train to pump with your wing behind you as long as you can What setup are you using?
@@Ludo_freefoiler Thanks! I had Gong Rise XXL on custom board with 65 and 80cm mast, then sroka classic 2000 on Gong Catch 4'0 board with 80 and 70cm mast, and now Lol 1900 on Catch 4'0 with 75cm mast. I will try to pump it while winging. I thought it was not possible with the big 70L board (inflatable)
@@fredodofre it is possible to pump a bit with a big board. It will not last long and not feel as good as with a small pump board, but to train while wingfoiling this is worth it
wow, congrats👌🙌😎
Thank you
Go get a job instead of spending grandmas money.
13 km/h, what's the stall speed on that Sirus? On my Axis foils that's right at the stall speed for me
What’s the size of your Axis foil? A bit less than 12km/h I would said, I will check how much I can reduce my speed
Incredible video mate! Thank you very much. Can you pease add one more screenshot in the comments ? You posted your intervals distribution of your heart rate over 5 zones. If you post your splits section and make sure to scroll out to the right to capture the power output for each split.. that would be of enormous help. Also what is your age and weight? Also I don’t believe you could spend most of your 5 mins in zone 5. Most likely your max HR rate is much higher than your apple watch is thinking. Based on your “computed” max HR apple watch computed your zones.. i think based on what I saw, you stayed in zone 3 all the time. As you could still talk to the microphone. In zone 4 or 5 , nobody can talk. Anyway, amazing video and you have great skills. You are blessed wirh youth and high max heart rate, so you can sustain 165 - 170 bpm. For me 165 is my max heart rate, and its not safe to be anywhere near it. My sustained HR for zone 3 is about 140-145 bpm. So I need a foil that would allow me to stay in that zone to pump over 1 - 2 mins. This is very interesting area of research you can dive into and make another good video about it.
Thank you for your message! Until now I was not really looking at the heat rate but this is interesting to understand how long one can pump. I’m going to check the parameters of my watch because as you said always in the zone 5 to be and feeling ok doesn’t seem realistic. I will keep investigating the heart rate and keep you posted. The first time I did 15min a couple of weeks ago, I was done at the end. Now it feels pretty easy. This is not because my heart can sustain a higher bpm but because I am more efficient in my pumps and controlling the heart rate: relax/save energy. I will look if becoming more and more efficient I can keep the heart rate in the zone 3 for a longer time. I am 34 for 62kg.
Unfortunately I don’t see more information about the splits I posted (mark 05:12 in my video)… time/speed and heart rate but no power output

@@Ludo_freefoiler thanks for the answer. Which Foil size would you recommend for 75kg?

Excellent video. How to control the heart rate? My heart rate rate jumps in 30 seconds towards the max heart rate and I can no longer continue. Can you overlay your heart rate chart on top of your future video and let us see how it changes during your 30 mins pump? I think this is a critical information everyone would benefit from. Also, what is your speed? Do you deliberately slow down to almost stall speed? Or you just pump without any concern for your speed?
Thank you for your message! Very good questions!! I’m going to make a video about heart rate and tips on how to control it. I have already a heart rate chart at the end of this video: th-cam.com/video/zyQCUvvOECI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=aV8fWd8Z3bz3uk-E For 20min ride, average heart rate 176bpm, max 186bpm. I jump as well very quickly high, but I am making sure all the time not to enter my “red/limit” zone where no recovery while pumping is possible. At one point it is not possible anymore and I have to stop, record so far by 30min. To control it, I try to pump using as little energy as possible and relax as long as I can. I have some tricks that I will share in the next video. The speed is about 13km/h. I try to have the lowest comfortable speed as possible. If the speed is too low too close to stall speed, to stay in control I might want to regain speed pushing hard and quickly on your back leg, going to accelerate your heart rate.
thanks im trying to improve my teqnice right now
