That’s great information. Thank you.
The frames are not necessarily larger. My old SnM Holms had 15" chain stays, most 22" bikes are shorter than that, some right about that length. Most 22" bikes are over 21" top tube lengths but most seem to fall just under the 22" length. Where the MacNeil Duce Duce resides. So overall the frames are actually comparable in size, you could easily find a shorter frame on a 22" wheeled BMX than a 20" wheeled BMX. The simple difference is in rotational weight (22" wheels did exist back in the early 80's) and what that brings to the experience. I spent some 28 years on a 20" and while I loved every minute, I will admit I was often on the edge of control. As I got older (kids came along) and rode my bike less I found that I was on that edge more often. I rode 24" bikes and they are cool, but the wheel size is intrusive, I rode 26" bikes and the wheels feel so flexy and man they will eat you if you get back over the tire. When I went to 22" wheels I felt like it was what I was wanting my whole life but could never find. I get the idea that it's an old man bike, but I disagree. People ride 26" wheels in the park all the time because it's their preference and no one calls DJ bikes old man bikes. If you have the physical ability to rock a 20" do it, absolutely. But if you want a bit more flow, that a 20" just doesn't seem to offer, try a 22. I took my kid (14) to the trails the other day, he's not a BMXer, he's a goalie. He snapped his chain so I left him with a couple buds and my bike. I took his to the shop bought a new chain installed it and when I got back he would not give me my bike back. Now his MacNeil is up for sale and he's riding a 22.
Super super helpful! Your description in the first 14 seconds is exactly what I'm looking to do, so this video was perfect.
20 inch with long top tub better than 22 inch tires??
Thanks will trying this
Are they still on sale now? They have disappeared from sale everywhere.
Hi! What's ur height? I'm 6.1 l, and I'm thinking about buy mtb street or bmx, maybe bmx will be small for me😅 I want to ride on streets and sometimes do tricks at the skatepark. By the way, it's really hard to find good street mtb, only assemble custom mtb by yourself.
Thanks man. I was contemplating on whether I was going to get a 20" or a 24". Looks like I'm getting a 22"
i belive fork centres can modify steerer tubes?
can i get a link or name for tge adapter pls
I have the but in metallic blue with white logos and writing
I’m 6’1.5” and 39. I’m considering getting a 21.25” TT 20” bmx bike. Anyone with similar height/age ride something like this? Would a 22” be that much better?
There is no practical difference in cockpit room between the 20” wheel bike with 21.25” TT and, say, Wethepeople Audio 22” wheeler with 21.90” TT - stuff like stem length and height and the height of the handlebars are more tangible variables. Did you end up getting a bike yet? I’m 5’11” and my 20” bike has a 21.15” TT and 9.4” bars; considering switching to 10.2” bar height (as the relatively long TT for my height has me reaching further forward for the bars). I also have a 24” Wethepeople Atlas but it’s a bit of an odd bird; too small to sit down and pedal comfortably, too big to be ridden like a freestyle bmx. It is fast as heck though and I’ve been known to partake in an occasional lap around the bmx track with it.
Looks like fun. What are you riding?
Nice!
There's no bearing on the bottom, or the bearing is in the frame?
Standard thread in I think
25 yrs and only 5ft, I'm stuck on bmx (yes I've tried dj, it's just so much extra bike for me. I really feel it in the air)
I’m doing the same thing with the rigid fork into a tapered frame did that crown race adapter work well for you? It didn’t loosen up when you rode hard at the skatepark? You mentioned the video you had a couple different ones what do you think the best brand is FSA?
No, I had good luck with it. I've used it on mtn bikes too
hey, which size of tires do you have on the 22"? 2.4"? Thanks
You have a WHOLE giant bowl to yourself and you say its crowded? We have packed tiny little street parks in Aus where getting a clean run is like Mad Max beyond Thunderome
Peanut Butter Mud!
Are those the 2.4 or 2.2 holy Rollers?
I wan to say 2.2
What rigid fork is that? Axle to crown? What size Holy Rollers?
It was the longer of the identiti models, I can't remember off the top of my head. Tires are the 2.3 . Holy rollers are definitely not my faves though. I did comparison elsewhere on here. DTH or Kenda Kniption are both better
Stock tires are 2.1, do you think you can fit anything wider? 2.3’s maybe?
Pretty sure these were 2.3 front and rear
You make it looks fun
It was!
You can see the road from up there? Go figure. Trail looks good!!
Luckily they had that white sign on the right corner, I saw it from the road first
Wow, perfect video for me right now, both of my bikes need new tires and last time I bought tires was in 2017, WTB Bee Lines, bought an extra set but they finally wore out lol. It's a nightmare trying to get 26 DJ tires in Canada at the moment.
Good info, thx!
Do you know if the spindle on the stout is compatible with the Sram BB30 spindle?
any recommendations for my first dj?
Bummer crash. "Right in the puddle" Thanks for letting me know your tire pressure :)
I like it!!
! nice !

What do we have here? Giant - ?? 😁 O I saw it. Sight I thought I read Giant
Norco sight
Thanks for posting these videos, I always felt that mtb were horrible at jumping, they definitely lack “pop” I grew up on bmx bikes (total 80s kid) I watched the progression of the mtb sport from a dirtbike lens and I never got into it. After a more than a decade of being a clydesdale roadie (still a clyde) and more than 30 years of motocross and hare scrambles I am looking for a 22” bmx bike! I think it’s a midlife crisis purchase.
They're a great way to get back into it
Mate are you sitting in the saddle on the trail?
No, some of the flat spots at the beginning and end just to pedal
It looks like it is running really well!!
It really is, draining much better than it did 2 years ago
👍
I heard there was a cougar on hide and seek yesterday. I'm glad you made it through.
I heard that too, didn't see those older ladies though.....lol
Still riding at a pro level since 1990 22in is a lifesaver for the old guy brought me back to my former glory not to mention half as many wrecks and twice as much air with half as much speed. Now at 46 years old I've never been better still riding alongside guys that learned under me including Mike Hoder!
Thank you.
Cool
5:18 So after all that, you go and recommend a 26"? Lol.
Not really, I recommend based on what the rider wants. Going from a mountain bike to a dj is easier, going from ridong a 20 inch bmx as a kid to a 22 as an adult is natural step. Its really up to what feels the best, I'm just giving out the information.
modern??? never ever heard or seen a 22" until this very moment... modern bmx ...rear triangle is much shorter, headtube much steeper, seat tube less steep and they are a lot more expensive on top of regular inflation....the 22" wont catch on, they will die out. There is literally no reason for a 22" when you can change it with a laidback seatpost(gt and cult offer them).....or ride a 24"...no offense, but a 22" is just...way too niche.
Ride one and you'll understand. They've been around for quite a few years now. Its much better than trying to fit a too small bike to a taller rider. My 20 inch bikes I ride all have over 21 inch top tubes and those work well but still not as stable as a 22
I’ve been riding a 22 for six years now and being Fairly tall and slightly older rider it simply fits proportionally for me and doesn’t feel completely different for tricks like a 24 does. Current 22 makers are Fit, Subrosa, S&M, Ditto, InDust, GT, DK, TJD, WeThePeople, PDC, Laird… big up the niche category!
Nice bike
Thanks

Hi, why is a 22" bmx for an older adult? Cheers
The wheels are bigger but so is the whole bike. Its more stable, less cramped and helps the rider stand more up right

what’s up!? we should ride and get some footie some time
Sounds good to me
You are really good at jumping a Mountain bike
Thank you!
