I remember the trailers making the game look so exciting. and then when i finally got my hands on it. it went "is this a soulslike?" i got like half way done with the war-band shit and was like "uh?"

It is an ok game that sticks out from the rest thanks to the premis and animals, but i think everybody expected much more

Kinda crazy but the ranged stuff for me was the exact opposite, melee felt like it was pretty useless and ranged would stomp on everything. Also sadly one of the only games I've ever pre-order so I was playing as the mercenary class or whatever he's called. But yeah the game was pretty boring around launch as well, though I did put like 20 or 30 hours into it and had an alright time. I did give up before beating it though. And yeah the different elemental biomes were a joke, only took me maybe 4 or 5 hours before I had every single resistance maxed out and didnt even need the stupid suits lol

At the end, true evil was a narrator. It’s He, who knows everything and pulls the strings of story via “cutscenes” and by a lack of “choice” ^_^

i enjoyed the game personally but that is due to the type of person i am and all the issues you had with the game are valid. i cant say i remember any slow downs but i can say the giant click with the guns never happened to me (im on xbox one) my best guess as to why the game was so bad on ps5 might have been due to it being on ps5 sometimes games made with older hardware plays better with its generation of hardware and poorly with newer hardware it might play better on ps4. as for your issues with the guns damage did you use a crit build? if not that might be the reason i spec-ed heavy into crit and luck and it melts enemies the rapid fire super wanfu is worth it when the you can unload so many high powered shots its something that i know needed more work and better scaling. really much of the combat choices need a focused investment it really shows how trying being a jack of all trades is bad and the class choice was at the start was telling you to focus on the class and not round it out

I played for xbox and ther was alot wrong with this game but ate thesame time there was alot i really liked one of my biggest problems were Feeling overwhelmed in the beginning Trying to make sense of what was going on but when it got going traveling the world was awsome and creating your Character and watching him change was awsome also im 50/50 on combat

The controller sound issue isn't present on PC, so maybe make it clear that this is a review of the PS5 version. Then again, a mid game on lesser hardware being disappointing isn't a surprise.

I was watching one of my friends on Twitch play. He asked me if I had played it yet. I said yes. He asked me how I liked it. I said that I didn’t really like it and that it wasn’t my type of game. He told me “You don’t know what you’re talking about.” How does one not know what they’re talking about when saying they didn’t like something and that’s it?

Biomutant was a frustrating experience. There's a good (or at least decent) game in there that desperately wants out, the setting is novel, the idea interesting, and the artstyle beautiful, but it's all drowned by bad decisions. I myself had to stop 5 hours in because I could not stand the narrator.

ATM Steam still wants 40$ for this.

It's a good game but it's just another open world game and it is void of interesting stuff. I think it's for all ages to be honest and it's a bit everywhere.

Im here to defend this game, i bought it for like 15 usd on a steam sell. And to this day your hard press to have more fun when youre so stoned/drunk to care afbout story or concept

Pro tip: just get Rain World for better post apo rodent experiance

The alignment system is what made this game one of the only games I've asked to refund a game on steam. It was so shallow and after the first main choice outside of the tutorial it showed it was gonna continue. Good review, thanks for the breakdown and retrospective.

Kids. It's for kids. I would have loved this game as a kid.

Man y'all hate too much this game is fun and has many options for replaying different styles it's a solid 4/5 not perfect but very fun

I really enjoyed the game but yeah it has issues like the melee weapons being too weak (in comparison to the guns) and the clan stuff being a bit pointless

Idk if you look at some of those 2021 releases, we weren’t eating good💀 but yea this games whack, put 15 hours in it and my sister liked the world of this game, but after a while just got uninterested

I hated this game. There were some good ideas in there, but for every 1 good idea there were 50 awful ideas that got in the way. Fighting the same monster over and over again in copy paste locations. And that narrator realy grates on my nerves very quickly. In fact, the best thing about the game was were I refused to save any characters since they were all annoying as hell. So, the final scene where it shows you who you saved ended up being 2 minutes of looking at empty seats. I wish I recoded that now as it had me laughing so hard I couldn't breathe.

Sound bars are not super worth it if you’re investing in a subwoofer. Think of it as you’re paying for a soundbar to simulate the position of base but you’re paying for a subwoofer to physically position heavy base output in a room. They’re both an upgrade to an existing stereo setup but the soundbar has a significant price mark up as it’s designed as a standalone stereo system. Obviously anyone selling audio equipment might disagree with this assertion and have access media refuting it. (Edit) because I’m realizing how I’m probably a lot older than the average demographic here but like 90% of children under twelve will: have a mild existential crisis with enough of this midline good or evil shit, or just learn to filter out everything but keywords.

I got this for $7 and still had buyers remorse. It felt like a car trunk stuffed with ideas that were popular at the time. Insignificant choices trying to be an old Bioware game. Gunplay as Ratchet and Clank were making a comeback. RPG open world mechanics like Elders Scrolls. The conquering bases felt it resembled Ghost of Tsushima taking back towns from Mongols. Crafting from survival open world like Fallout. Four major fights that serve as the ultimate goal, wooo, wonder where I heard that one. Not that these ideas are bad and you're allowed to use things that worked before, but it causes a lack of focus in design. Another very notorious example of this is Duke Nukem Forever. No idenity, too many cooks in the kitchen taking off of ideas popular at the time. Only difference is that Biomutant couldn't cook where Duke hit world record of development time and burned the kitchen.

Game looks like a cross between WoW and GW2 .

I wish that you had discussed the dev process. My understanding is that the game wasn't originally designed to be whatever it is. I have not played.

I was actually thinking about if someone did a "is it worth it now?" For Biomutant today. I bought it at launch and was super hyped, but got sad pretty fast

This is for the me that played the xbox 360 in 2010.

I looked at this game and thought it was for Furries in training. And looking at Steams adult selection it makes this a reality.

I remember being really excited for this game ever since it’s initial reveal. I enjoyed playing it when it came out but it was extremely repetitive

It's a fun game. It's just all over the place and doesn't really know what it wants to _do_ which I think hurt it. It's a very "mid" game that tried to do too much.

I mean the obvious thing that points to it being a kids game, look at the UI and in-game menus, looks and feels like Fortnite 😂😂😂

My take on this game is that there are enough interesting ideas and concepts that if there is a Biomutant 2, it has the potential to be great. But the first one is just eh.

Biomutant had unbelievable potential and I hope they make a sequel. There’s so much they could fix to make the game a great experience. But things like the character designs and weapon building are great, but everything else is meh
