Black Sabbath was this astroid that hit the earth and exploded the average rockers mind with every album they created. They were obviously made to do this and it shows easily with their continued success regardless of experimentation of the music or the influence of their minds and behavior while doing it. This is the OG metal. They were the first, the stamp that imprinted so many others. There may be more technically adept, flashy bands today. But it's safe to say none can come close to the vision of Sabbath. They were metal when NO ONE ELSE was. They were the pioneers and Godfathers, so compellingly original. Bands today have all manner of tech wizardry at their fingertips, but give me that lil ole band from Birmingham cranked to 11. They are a perfect band.
