The "Battle of I-10" refers to the college rivalry between the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and New Mexico State University (NMSU).
It was named so because the two universities are situated along Interstate 10, connecting El Paso and Las Cruces.
In the beginning this rivalry game started as a football rivalry but soon grew to whenever these two schools met in athletic competition.
This game is marked by strong competition and passionate fan bases, with the teams vying for the Silver Spade Trophy and the Mayor's Cup.
