I have never fought algae. They live their own life, I am not fighting nature. I have some cyanobacteria and I am very happy about it: they give a lot of oxygen.

I like your garbage leafy biotope aquariums in the garage much more than the fancy aquascapes in the house.

My 10 gallon tank has 23 fish, shrimps and 10 low tech plants (8 different kinds) and it doesn't feel overstocked and the fish are thriving, the fish stock is: 6 zebra danio 6 cardinal tetra 5 corydoras 2 guppies (with 50+ fry, I'll give them away) 1 otocinclus 1 siamese algae eater 1 hillstream loach 1 horseface loach 20 red cherry shrimp (10 big, 10+ newly hatched) I clean the filter monthly, and do monthly water changes.

If heavily planted and not overstocked together with fish species that doesn't produce much waste, you really don't need weekly changes. During my doldrums years of fish keeping, i even get away with only monthly water changes with monster fishes, they still thrive but not thier best years. Nowadays that I rekindled my love for fish keeping, i do weekly changes at least 30% of water change, more if it's messier.

But algae wont bloom out of control with limited feeding . Unless the tank is over stocked. People go on about algae and to be honest with my setups especially my main tank I've never had a issue with algae. I think every tank should be based on as a individual eco system. Substrate is a key factor aswell. Some people are beyond helping especially some of my mates tanks. This information goes straight over there heads 😂

Harry loved worms 🪱 😊 I occasionally give my fancy goldfish earthworms 🪱 they’re like puppies receiving a treat. 😄 I currently have tubs outside that have all kind of live foods in them. Today I noticed they are full of bloodworms too, I normally feed frozen ones, so I’m excited to see how they’ll react to live bloodworms.

Now if only I could ween my Badis spp. onto frozen foods so I could take a break from culturing all kinds of live foods! I'm tired of stressing I'll run out of food. 😞😮‍💨🥲

Amazon has the lid handles and plastic hinges for glass. The glass can be cut at small and large hardware stores. This works for terrariums and fish tank lids. I sanded the rufcut edges smother with my orbital sander.
