@@dollar7512 thank you🤝
@committedtomycraft No, thank you. I've been trying to find some authentic videos to send my son, and then take him out and practice them. This is all reps that he needs for in game use.
@@dollar7512Have him check out the entire workout on one of the other videos. I’m doing a 30 Day Handles Transformation with 30 ball handling workouts that are about 10 minutes long each
@@committedtomycraft I'm off today we are on it
Can someone please tell me when this “shuffle” “hesi” double step stuff became normal and legal?
I'm a neuroscientist, and my focus is on physical therapy and occupational therapy, and if I could give you a tip... generally speaking, rapid repetition in succession is great when learning a repetitive or cyclical task such as walking. You are pounding the ball many times in the same spot, and no doubt, that does get you better at pounding the ball in the same spot over and over, but it's not really going to help you build ball handling skills that can be used in-game. To develop in-game dribbling skills, you should really do as little repetition as possible. learning ball handling that will convert to a non-controlled environment means there is a premium on improvisational drills or sequences that are actually productive to learn. One well-known example is the spider drill. It's technically "repeditive" but it's such a complex movement that especially beginners aren't so much learning muscle memory as they are ball awareness. When they fumble the ball, they develop a sense for where they fumbled the ball to, and that's the most valuable skill with ball handling... it's being able to map 3d space and know where and when to expect the ball and how to correct yourself in real time. People think grinding fundamentals is good practice, but research has shown time and time again that repetition is overrated. For example, I ran a study on free-throw shooting. We had several groups, and tracked them for methods to improve their free-throw, and what we found was the poorest performing group was those who simply repeated the task everyday. But what were the forms of practice that yielded the BEST results in free-throw%? It was the forms of practice that introduced RANDOM VARIANCE to the freethrow during practice. We had a team that did a series of single free-throws with added obstacles. Some examples include standing them on a wedgeboard Wedged in any direction. Having them turn in/out 45 additional degrees. having them shoot on their left leg/right leg only. Off the pass, off the dribble, off the backboard, rainbow arc, little arc, on tiptoes, fadeaway, sidefade, teardrop, after running, hold your breath, eyes closed etc... just anything we could think of. We must've had like 40 or 50 different shots, and WITHOUT EVER GIVING STRUCTURED REPETITIVE PRACTICE, they outperformed the group who did the traditional method... brute force... focus on doing it exactly the same every time. Our conclusions were that it's harder than people think to replicate a full complex motion. In fact... it's impossible. You might have a little weight on your left foot, you might have a microcramp in your back, you might be running high or low on energy, you might be relaxed or not. Replication simply isn't possible, so instead of focusing on replication, it's best to focus on REACTION. Anything you can do to make your drills less planned or repeditive and more chaotic and reactive will pay bigger dividends faster.
Brilliant comment and study! I'm going to take what your findings present and work that into my coaching and training.
@@runthenumbers9698 That’s great insight! Could you run a study on my 30 Day Handles Transformation? All you need to do is follow along with all 30 Days of the Transformation and then report your finding back to me in a similar way you did on this last comment. I really appreciate your help with this project🙏🏻
Thank you sir for your comments. I understand your point and I agree with you . But give Coach a break. It takes a lot of time and effort to create these training videos. He's doing them for FREE for everyone to watch and follow if they want to. Unfortunately, a lot of families don't have the time and money to spend for club trainings where the kids can do more of the random drills that you suggested. However, these drills only require a small space and a ball. Most kids can follow these drills for a few minutes instead of spending all of their free time playing video games. Even if they are repetitive motions, i think the kids will improve their dribbling skills if they commit and follow the videos. Thanks Coach for the training videos. I plan to forward your training videos to my players who are interested in improving their dribbling skills. They are not the most skilled players but they love the sport and they want to continue to improve. These videos will surely help. Just hope they put in the effort to follow them :)
