The Triumph Rocket III files: Coppers on the Guyra-Ebor Rd.
An Oldie. The weather is relentlessly hot at the moment... 45C yesterday... 44 today...so a good time to hide inside and turn on the air-con. I've been looking at some external hard drives to see what might have survived the death of the old desk top and came across this one. Hopefully i haven't uploaded it before. Heading towards home in Guyra on the Triumph awhile ago. Sitting on 120 or so and the Coppers come the other way heading east, flick their lights a couple of times and waggle an admonishing finger at me ( Not for the first time either). I can only guess one of or both ride. That was bloody courteous of them!

This is a short-ish video of catching the number 14 tram around the Leipzig city circle and out towards the Felsenkeller near Plagwitz. I was hungry and decided I wanted Bratwurst and beer for lunch. Still, as anyone who knows my videos in regards to finding sausage rolls, anything can happen! Sadly, during the process of moving out here to where I am now, many things were stolen when I was in ...

Friday foray over to The Dish near Parkes. The Dish is made famous by the movie... err.. the Dish, and played a major role in the Apollo moon landings. I can remember watching it live on TV at my school in Eastville back then in 1969. Kids clustered around a little black and white TV on a stand with trolley wheels. Those were the days! I replaced the speedo drive with a new one from EasyR.. mad...

The stretch from Condoblin aerodrome to the village of Fifield, NSW. This is an excerpt from Wednesday's ride on that cooler day. The Old Girl loves this stretch of road. The speedo reading is accurate for this part of the ride, until I gave her a squirt and went past about 115... then it went wobbly again. But you know, this old girl goes pretty well dragging myself, a 20kg red dog and probabl...

I hope everyone had a very good Christmas and New Year. Short hop from Tullamore to Trundle on today's ride. Weather was cooler after a mid summer storm last evening and so it was time to sneak out for a ride. Tilly is a ratbag. I need to ride more. I am less angry at the world when I do, haha and so is Tilly.

Sorry for the lack of motorcycle content lately. The summer is just too warm at the moment. We've barely had a day under 35celsius for weeks.(and often above 40) That's just too warm to drag Tilly around the countryside in the chair. *and we all know what it's like when I try and leave her at home haha.

Claudia is a very old friend of mine and a fan of my music, so in between grilling prawns smothered in garlic and steaks and salmon fillets and snapper over a few nights we managed to drink beer and red wine and sneak in a few songs. I hope everyone out there had a good Christmas and ate too much etc and managed to s...

Just had my Triumph out, and what is heading toward me, an HD sidecar rig (91 Ultra factory rig), and I recognized who was on it....someone got a "new" toy...know you miss that big old girl.
I like that Bonnie of yours.
Super cool place, Nice to hear people talking to each other on the train. In America people don't talk to each other on public transit. They only gaze into their cell phones. Did you have soljanka for lunch.
Hello Robert, yes you can see the soljanka at the end of the video. I suspect the younger Germans are all glued to their phones too, sadly.
Wish I could have caught up with you there! Aw man, no brat! Tell you what, I know where you can get a great bratwurst, on the top of Tremola, in Switzerland! Guy in the red trailer near the motorcycle parking... 😎
Don't worry James, I certainly made up for the lack of Bratwurst on that day and had it often afterwards! Yeah it would have been great to catch up over there. Absolutely nothing went right on that trip!
Kawasaki Kid here, got the machine working, but just too hot to ride, will message you in a few days time
Yeah, it's too hot for me most of the time as well. I try and pick a cooler day and get out for a quick run.
Happy New Year from Scotland from Tilly the blue heeler and her owner to you and your Tilly ,✌. Keep practising the blues.
Happy new year to you too mate! Yes I will! ( and need to haha)
The photos I put up with the video seem to have turned into close ups from a Sergio Leone film. Sorry about that.
Where is your camera mounted Sean? It seems slightly biased to the right but am I right in thinking it's mounted on the left?
Hello Will, the camera is mounted directly in the middle of the chin piece of my full face. I can see what you mean... a matter of about 10mm maybe? Not sure what I can do about that. Camera is the same mounting point I've always used. Do you find yourself arranging all your pens in neat order? Lining up your peas at dinner?
Having said that... the camera is a new (to me) Gopro 10. I'm still working out how to get get the best picture quality from it during the editing process.. The raw footage I have is much clearer and I'm losing some defiinition in the translation. Well, not sure what difference the new camera would make to the alignment on the bike... I'll think about it.
Top dog Tilly she's learning quickly😊❤ Evo is sounding sweet to
Michael, I improved the bike's sound by taking the highly technical step of shoving the mic in my jean's back pocket, haha.
@saxonost7 I know the feeling analogue brain in a digital world she sounds very crisp still whoever rebuilt that knew what they were doing
By the way Shaun those Speedos often act like that when the cable is just about to break
@@michaeloneill5961 That's my brother's work. He was a mechanic by trade. A handy bloke to know! He taught me a lot about old Triumphs in my younger days!
@saxonost7 had many a Triumph great to work on and awesome machines
Speedo remains recalcitrant. A bit of the wind cover for the camera seems to have wanted to have its 15 minutes of fame. Sorry about that. That Tilly is a good pup. She looks after Keith really well too
I notice that the potholes and bumps are still at that corner in Fifield (shame on the Shire for not fixing them)
Haha, yep, takes half an hour to leave town with all those bumps/ Nearly shook the bars out of my hands!
Forgot to mention....ignore the speedo.. despite me cleaning it, it's still having a hissy fit. Will have to take the front rim off for a new tyre soon, so will look at it again then.
Believe it or not, the speedo drive on my 88 Harley is the only one the bike has ever had! Many cables but that drive has registered all 232K (miles) she's showing!
@@JamesAllmond James is that 232k miles on the original bottom end?
Memories of Paris Texas
Love that movie. Can't say I can play anything like them, but Ry Cooder and Leo Kottke would definitely have influenced me over the years as far as listening goes. I haven't played slide really since the late '80s...but am enjoying getting back into it!
@saxonost7 it sounds great it sounds like you've been doing it for a long time
That guitar has a top tone and intonation she rings like a bell😊❤
It's a Fender Kingman acoustic played through a Fender SFXII amp. The amp is really nice, the guitar has some really good tones but isn't easy to play....you need bigger hands than I have I think. It's probably not very well suited to slide playing as the action is pretty low... but you use what you've got eh! ( unless you're a young person and then you have to have a guitar for every occasion.. a bike for commuting another for touring, another for 'adventures' etc etc. )
@@saxonost7 I have a lovely Washburn Montgomery special you would like nothing like a wound 3rd for tone
@@michaeloneill5961 Michael, a wound 3rd is a must! I use D'addario 11-52s...been using them since about 1980-something.
@saxonost7 I have two packets left 12-52 they don't make them anymore Roto sound 5212 not bad either
nice to see good weather, +35 deg for you, -0 degrees here, despite being envious I enjoyed the ride! expected snow storms all weekend for us so no rides for me this weekend either........ you take care........John
G'day John, enjoy that snow! I always enjoyed the European weather.. am not great with the hot Australian summers. Summer here becomes a bit relentless. Take care mate!
Speedo is looking a bit optimistic again. Time to give it some grease and oil the cable again. She's running along really nicely though.
😅 G'day Shaun Tilly getting free drinks how cool my last dog used to get free drinks free food and know where every butcher shop was in any town we stayed in😂❤
G'day Michael! Yeah, you gotta love 'em eh!
Tilly is doing well! Old Harley is too! How is the rider holding up? And I hear you about losing a brother. Lost (another, down to 3 now, was 5) one a few weeks ago...always on my mind.
brothers never go away.. just keep popping into your head in certain situations.. riding of course ! The rider is going ok so far! Probably not as well as Tilly or the OG! I'm really pleased with Tilly.
Hello from Ukraine. I also like to ride with a stroller, I have a MT Dnepr motorcycle, your videos are very atmospheric. evolution - the bike of my dreams
G'day from Oz Vlad hope you guys kick Putin's little b u t t
Vlad, thanks for watching! I like those Dneprs, wish I had one for the dirt roads here! I hope you get the chance to do some riding where you are.
@@saxonost7 thank you, I like the vibrations of the Dnepr, it is lively, and it also has "potato" at low speeds, so my choice is Harley, I read and watched a lot about it, about evolution. Here Dnepr is sold from 150 to 500 dollars depending on condition.
@@Vlad-f2q8n When I was a youngster, the Dnepr bikes and sidecars were sold in Australia under the name Cossack. The sold for $650 brand new with a sidecar. A dollar a cc. In those days they were known as very reliable.

She always wins.. because we always move!
sounds good to me mate
Ok so some minor issues with the 'new' Gopro10. Mainly because I didn't pay attention to the basic settings instead of trying to make sure I got my mic and wind cover attached etc. I've now changed the pic rate setting to 60 frames per sec which is what I normally use.. it was on 30. That should sharpen things up a bit and I've also gone to the super wide setting ( which I suspect is just the same as the 'wide' setting on the old Gopro 5.)
G'day Sean thanks for dropping in and visiting the Kawasaki Kid's world, great little ride mate
Was good to catch up. I like your place, has a real atmosphere to it! Good choice of a place to live.
G'day Sean topjob on the bedroom Tilly is looking really comfortable in the sidecar these days😊
Thanks mate, Yeah she's doing really well isn't she, which is a huge relief! It's important she can ride with me for day rides and overnighters etc. How are things going with you?
@saxonost7 absolutely couldn't be better thanks mate
@saxonost7 just been out for a ride today with Annie in the sidecar it sits and rides perfectly and she says it's very comfortable I couldn't be more happy with both of them cheers

Good medicine for a Monday morning Sean the trials and tribulations of Tenacious Tilly😅❤
Michael, she's certainly a character....!
Great to see another film. Great content and always find the huge skies fascinating. Living in the Uk when we see the sun we panic and call in a UFO sighting!!
Mate, I'm really grateful for the encouragement!
hi mate, (Kawasaki Kid here) still waiting for my Kawasaki to be finished, when it is I will give you a ring and maybe we can meet up at the Bogan Gate Pub
Sounds like a plan!
Just because he knows a lot about BMW bike's doesn't give you the right to be a mouth. 😊
Dustystar, it's of course your choice as a keyboard warrior, to take the negative interpretation of what I said. He DOES know a lot about K100s...and I have been on literally dozens of rides with him, from day rides to 2,000km rides...but don't let that get in the way of a possible good negative rant!
Well, at least you can fix the Harley. Oddly, even back when HD had sidecars for the general public, they would NOT put one on a softail. Saying that, I know folks who have done it, with lighter sidecars and NEVER off road or even dirt roads. Tilly just doesn't like standing still!
Haha, she doesn't does she! It's pretty hard to avoid dirt roads living in the countryside. Oh well.. I'll just have to be a bit more careful.
Oh and... I suspect the softail swingarm flexes...
Tullamore is adopted from Ireland not England Sean, from the Irish or Gaelic Tullach Mór, meaning big or great mound. It's the principal town of county Offaly and home of the D.E. Williams distillery of Tullamore DEW fame. I shall think of you the next time I pass through it!. The rig sounds great and Tilly is travelling well. Fair play.
*rolls eyes
Will, I actually meant English speaking names,( as opposed to indigenous Australian) but hey, Paris Texas is hardly an English language name is it! Haha My father loved Tullamore Dew and would break out his very dodgy attempt at an Irish accent each time he had a dram...hehe Ahhh the memories.
@@saxonost7 I knew what you meant - just couldn't risk letting the pomms away with it! :D
@@78ZV yer a feckin' Oirish trouble maker! Haha
That looks right for a Beemer rally. Time the sun comes up half the folks are already packed and on the road... Rally scene same here too. Group ethos just isn't there anymore. I blame social media and anti-social politics.
James, I suspect they don't drink enough...and go to bed too early!
15:47 felt that... Surprised there are not GS riders out on that dirt road! Here in the States, most of our states also have geographical center of state markers, that are esentially meaning less, but quaint. Georgia's is about 25 miles south of me, right off Interstate 16, in a swamp. Of course it is... but there is a sign! There are even 2 center of country markers. Then old one (without Hawaii and Alaska) and another that does in claude all 50 states. Gonna mess them up when they add Puerto Rico eventually. Nice ride. Tilly doesn't seem to say much, as long as you are moving!
James, you raise an interesting and disconcerting point in regards to GS riders. There were maybe 100 bikes at that rally and most of them were smaller, lighter adv bikes. Most rally riders have been doing this since the '70s now.. some even the '60s... and they're getting on. Big GS and K bikes are just too tall and heavy now for many.. so they're switching to F series BMWs and other makes. These older riders are not being replaced.. young people aren't interested in riding big rides.. they just make a cafe racer and go for a latte in the city. It's sad.
Great content, good to se eye/protection for "Tilly" keep sharing you'r adventures.I I enjoy watching.
Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting! Tilly doesn't really need eye protection most of the time as she tends to sit behind the screen anyway..but it can't do any harm.
A man, his bike and a dog. I call that a GOOD life ! All I'm missing is the dog..... I'll work on it. Cheers.
Can't argue with that!
Very boring
Ian, you might be right... apart from that boring bit where your channel has no content at all. Thanks for your contribution... keep up the good negative work!
My 88 Harley at around 80 MPH (125 or so for the rest of the world) the front end gets light as the air builds under the Watsonian... She's happiest 55 to 65 MPH too (90 to 110)...and sucks gasoline like a pig when going faster anyway...
Good point about fuel. At 90-110kmh she's economical enough. She's also very smooth at those speeds which is a bonus. I had an AMF Sportster back in the '80s for a brief time and its vibrations at highway speeds were bad. Very bad. Very very bad. ('81shovelhead Sportster )
Interesting that we both have '88 Evos
Dont think ive seen side car on left side b4 , must be a UK THING ?
I'm in Australia, but anywhere where you drive on the left side of the road requires the sidecar to be on the left. ( usually) . So UK, NZ, Australia, Japan and others.

Used to have a K1200LT. Big wind screen. On a trip out west with friends, she got the nickname "Bird Killer". Silly birds kept swooping in front of her and "whap"... Does remind me I really need to work on my old Harley....
James those K1200s are massive bikes.. a mate had one, the LT. I used to call it Battlestar Galactica.
Tilly quiets down as soon as you are moving. As a former BMW (6 of them) owner and still own a Harley (among others) I understand Tilly's preference. Old girl will get you there and back...at a leisurely pace...
She's a good old girl. She'll sit comfortably on 100-110kph (60 or 65mph) all day providing the roads are up to it and that's enough for me these days really. A mate of mine commented on how well she goes and pulls with a sidecar, so I'm guessing the cams and flowed heads etc Tim did to her make a difference. My last BMW K100 was an extremely reliable bike, which is what prompted me to buy this red one. Oh well... we live and learn...but it'll be good when I sort it out...eventually...
Tilly is getting better and better😊❤
@@michaeloneill5961 Yep, I'm very pleased with her!

Thank you @On596, your opinion is incredibly important to me. I strongly feel you're a very valuable member of the online community and have much to offer.
Best part of my Bonne? The kill switch is also the starter button...and you tell him Tilly! She's saying, enough idling around, let's get moving... Man, we can see it if you talk about it or not. Just got back from a 700 mile weekend on the Triumph. She did well but have to stop every 100 miles for fuel.. Pretty sure you checked this, but are the bikes wheels parallel? Offset is ok, but are they pointing in the same direction? Yeah, that is bugging the crap out of me.
Don't feed them after midnight.
