Nebraska vs Illinois Reaction || Room for Growth After the Bye Week

We are now 6 games in and bowl game dreams are still alive. At 3-3, we NEED to see some growth on the offensive side of the ball. Does the bye week give Nebraska an opportunity to make huge strides on the offense? After a lack luster game against Illinois where our defense really gave us the victory, Nebraska is now cemented as a decent team with room for growth but also good things to build on...

Nebraska vs Northern Illinois Reaction || Who should start against LA Tech?
มุมมอง 64ปีที่แล้ว
Nebraska gets its first win of the season against Northern Illinois with Heinrich Haarberg at QB. With only 1 turnover and a solid performance, I think it's fair to say he should be considered for the starting role going forward. 35-11 (should have been 35-3) is the score we wanted/needed from this team. Fixing the offense and eliminating turnovers was the name of the game this week. Not to men...

League Settings and What You NEED to Know!
Question for those of you who have done keeper before. This is my first year having keepers who will be affecting next years draft. My big question comes in this scenario: I would like to keep player x, however, I drafted them in the 4th round and I have traded away my 4th round pick. Will it take away my 3rd round pick then or how does that work?
For all the noobs interested in keeper it’s definitely the way to go. Trevor , did an excellent job explaining. Our league has been running for 15 years now, about 7 years ago we made the switch to keeper league. We give the option to keep two players for the length of two seasons. Keeper eligibility is for players drafted in the 4th round or later and also , undrafted players. Players who have been rostered prior to playoffs, are keeper eligible. Undrafted players can be kept for a 14th round. We want to reward great gm maneuvering, so just like how a undrafted talent can get to a bigger contract quicker , they can be kept as a 14th rounder. Each year a player is kept , they will cost a rounder higher the next season. So if you draft a guy in the 4th this year , to keep him next year would cost a third , and the following year he would be a second round. I would urge people to not automatically make keepers 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks. I say this because at the end of the day you want people to come to the draft prepared and not winging it with (insert draft experts cheat sheet). Keeper league is fun, strategic and rewarding. We love the luck of fantasy, but we want to reward the people who do the work. For last two seasons one of my league mates benefited by strategically picking up Travis Eitenne as his last pick his rookie year. Guess what , everyone had forgotten because he was out for the season. But my boy put him in IR, decided to keep him as a 14th rnder , and then 13th rnder. How bad ass was that move ? Another league mate tried the same thing with Jk dobbins who went undrafted , he stashed him in hopes of having a gem. He got hurt the next season so it didn’t workout. I say all this to say sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn’t. Rewards those doing the work and let keepers be sprinkled throughout the draft, that way you don’t have draft expert guys pulling up finessing the draft with others work. Every year there’s hidden gems like Elijah Mitchell, Eitenne , Puka nuckua to name a few. Another wrinkle that we incorporated after 4 years of keeper addition was IDP. It’s another game changer , and I urge everyone to dabble into idp fun. Peace, and football. Thanks again Trevor for a dope video.
I think I must have misunderstood some keeper league set up videos. Whenever I heard someone say 2 rounds back the next year and then 1 round forward the following year I just assumed it meant. If I drafted a guy in the 1st rd I can keep him with my 3rd round earliest pick and then the following year rd 2 is his cost and then his contract is up. I’m assuming now people meant draft the player near their ADP or minus/plus a rd. And then the following year move it up an additional rd. Tbh I kinda like the idea of only keeping a player max 3 total years and drafting him 2 rounds back and then a rd forward the last year. Also my keeper is a rookie only keeper 2 rookies (1 offense & 1 defense) so you can watch your guys grow for the next two additional years if you want to. Technically it’s set up so by the third year of the original 2 keepers on your roster contract that you can have 2 more keepers who should be entering their 2nd year of their contract so that means year 3 you could have up to 4 keepers if you wanted. Does that seem weird to treat it like the NFL with those kinds of contracts? Again it is only rookies kept so not like everyone will keep a guy or 2 every year and they can always drop them as their keeper for someone else. Did I do it completely messed up? Or is it fine? Only major rule I have is no keepers allowed in rd 1. We are a superflex league is why. Usually the first 2 rds are heavy on QB if your doing it right. So that wouldn’t be fair to those guys keeping like a bijan in the first rd. Instead get him rd 3 and then rd 2 his last year of the contract. Thoughts? I didn’t wanna go into heavy detail with all my specific rules lol.
Go Huskers !
Making a lot of excuses
As a Michigan fan I can relate to Nebraska fans. I lived through the RichRod and Hoke years. I never predict that my team is going to lose even if I think it might happen so I don’t view you predicting a Nebraska win as delusional. More like you hoping for your team to succeed.
Love it. I have A LOT of Michigan fan friends. Rooting for your team to do well the rest of the season!
Show up, cheer, see how it unfolds. Going into every game expecting to win is delusional unless you play on the team. Vegas doesn’t give out discounts homie, that number was generous. I was at the game as a Michigan fan, game was over in ten minutes. D-line was getting knocked back on the very first drive.
I'm pretty sure I emphasized that we are no where near top 25 material this year and the loss to Michigan cemented our status as a rebuild team. Not sure, other than being hopeful that there is always a chance for an upset, where you see me being delusional.
Huskers fans are hilariously delusional 😂
OR incredibly loyal, hopeful and optimistic. Try it out sometime ;)
I believe! I'm thinking 24-21 Huskers win with a last second FG by the freshman! GBR!!
Love it! GBR!
Glad I found this channel. I watch all things Husker. Glad to be a new subscriber. Great vid. Will be back for more.
Appreciate the sub! GBR
From the looks of the first game. You might be onto something with Bijan.
Some players look great in practice, but when you add 40 to 50K fans yelling and screeming at you, things change.
How is TCU one of the worst teams. They put up 42 points against Colorado. Stop hating homie. You sound just a wee bit butt hurt😅😅😅😅😅
Haha maybe not one of the worst. That may have come out due to frustration. Definitely not the team they were last year though.
@@FFT95 It seems to me that every one is upset because colorado is looking like they're on their way to NOT being the team they were last year. That's the issue here. And Shaduer has put up amazing numbers so far. Why is it laughable that he's being mentioned for the H??? Every team is 2 games in and I'm pretty sure he's not the only one being mentioned. Why does him being mentioned along with other players make you so upset??? Don't forget, he also has two amazing seasons with amazing stats at the HBCU school he was at too. Yep...those stats matter too sir
many unforced turnovers. have never seen the man in motion hit by the snapped ball.... the defense is fun to watch
Travis Kelce definitely now on my "Questionable" list. He plans to test his knee this morning before the game. Assuming it will be a game time decision.
It doesn't matter how you try to twist the narrative. There is no way in hell Nebraska is winning on Saturday.
I love the confidence ;) We will see!!
@FFT97 Yeah….We will, Nebraska about to get steamrolled.
Alternative perspective from every one online: Shadeur Sanders needed to throw for 500 yards to win by just 3 points. That indicates major holes elsewhere on the team. What happens if he throws for “only” 400 yards in a game? He is an incredible quarterback but there is a significant issue beneath the surface if 510 yards lead to only a 3 point victory.
TOM BRADY threw for 500 yards in a Record Setting SUPER BOWL Performance AND LOST!! to the Philadelphia Eagles! LOST! LOST!
I really hope Colorado 🐃 the PAC12 🙏🏽. It will help TCU 🙏🏽🐸💜🏈. And I want both teams, to get into the National Championship. This time TCU, will have film and prepare for them. TCU will crush them!
Sure
Colorado best running back did not play against TCU.
Nah fr. Smoke alto, and that Portland state back have a statement to make. They some dawgs.
You failed to mention that Colorado has 85% a new roster.
Absolutely. They have done a great job considering how new their roster is. I was focused on the caliber of their opponent in TCU last week.
You are right,TCU got beat by Ga 65-7 so Colorado beating them isn't a surprise to me because TCU isn't the same team as last year, one game doesn't determine the whole season
TCU would beat Minnesota
TCU would DESTROY Nebraska.
Solid Mic choice. Those Perceptions are nice.
I'm sick and tired of hearing about Anthony Grant. Gabe was the starter and hardly played. He averaged 7.9 ypc. He wasn't fumble prone in the pre season, yet AG was and he was the RB in the game late in the 4th quarter. That is horrible coaching.
Anthony Grant is super talented and it’s fun to watch that guy run. I agree though that it probably was a bad choice to have him on the field at such a crucial point in the game. Lessons I hope the coaching staff learns from.
I wouldn't give the kid the ball again the rest of the season!
I'll give you a like for the content but when I see Nebraska folks say things like "giving your soul to the team and if you're not a Nebraska fan you can't understand" it just says it all right there. To me, that's just a synopsis of what's wrong with the Husker program. It's almost like you guys live in a different college football reality than the rest of us. Like being a Husker fan is just on a different level and the rest of us peasants can't understand. Well, I can tell you that growing up a BAMA fan is pretty similar to growing up a Husker fan, and I do understand. But this is just part and parcel in dealing with Nebraska fans, in my experience. You guys have issues within the program that start with the people in charge of it at the top, as well as systemic culture issues Until you get those problems solved, you'd might as well get used to 4-8.
I probably should have said “you MAY not understand what I’m talking about.” I do very much believe that Nebraska has a special fan base with some incredible loyalty. You don’t continue a sellout streak through multiple losing seasons or get a world record for attendance at a women’s sporting event without it. I definitely am not blind to the fact that there are many other programs with awesome fan bases and school pride too. You may end up being right about our record this year. We all knew it would be a building year going into the season though. And I’m choosing to have hope! GBR!
We are converting to a Keeper League beginning this year. I am the commissioner and have received a little bit of negative feedback from some of the owners. We've been doing redraft for 20 years or so and the only real changes we've made, other than tweaking the scoring little bit, was going to PPR years ago. I was really surprised that some of the more successful teams/owners were the ones giving me pushback regarding a Keeper League. Your advice was helpful, I think I'm going to go with a 2 player keeper league (I don't want some of these guys to have a heart attack, lol) and whatever players you keep will cost you whatever round they were drafted in and move up 1 round each year. Do you recommend a maximum number of years a player can be kept? I've been advised to establish a 3 year maximum, more so the negative guys might see light at the end of the tunnel if someone is keeping a player they want. Not sure about that though. I'm going to set an 8th. round pick as the cost of any players that were picked up off of the waiver wire becoming a teams keeper. We draft 17 rounds (still 1 K & 1 D) so that's a mid round pick. Thanks for the helpful insight. 👍
Glad to hear this video helped! 2 keepers should be an easy transition for your league. I'm confident they will grow to like it (especially once they draft someone worth keeping haha). The reason for moving up a spot each year for the keeper a team chooses should help eliminate the need to put a 3 year cap on it but that's up to you. Also, I would recommend only allowing someone to keep a player that was originally drafted at the beginning of the year. If someone grabs a player off of waivers and is allowed to keep them (unless they were originally drafted) might cause some frustration among other teams. Failing to pay attention for even one week, big life events, work, sickness, etc. could all be reasons that a team misses a potentially HUGE keeper option picked up off of waivers. Does that make sense?
@@FFT95 Yes, that makes sense. I'm not set on anything yet so I'll definitely consider that. Thanks again. Good luck this year.
I like G. Wilson, but I feel like the Jets will try to be run heavy in their division. Also have to see what #1 CB's these players will have to deal with on the schedule. Pats usually try to take the best weapon away. Bills and Miami should have very good corners. The DJ Moore pick is a lil suspect, because the Bears typically won't throw as much as some teams, so his volume will not be there. He has to be very efficient for the attempts that he does get, but he definitely has potential.
Well said. That could definitely be a potential outcome for either of these guys. However, based on the talent and changes to team composition, I think there is a strong "ceiling" case to be made for either of these guys. Keep in mind that my D.J. Moore pick definitely had some emotional hype attached to it after the preseason game ;)
Keeper question keep 2 Amon Ra 6th rd, Olave 10thrd, Pierce 11thrd, Fields 16th rd
It's hard to know without a little more context. Is it superflex? And is it Half or full ppr? Fields in the 16th seems great either way. Aman Ra in a full PPR in the 6th is excellent but Olave in the 10th would be my other keeper if not.
If it's a more or less standard PPR league and not Superflex, I would keep Amon Ra in the 6th. (no brainer) and Chris Olave in the 10th. Pierce is solid but how effective is that team/offense going to be? Although I really like Fields, he's more than replaceable, especially down at round 16. Good luck.
should you be able to keep players picked up on wavier wire?
Good question. I would recommend only allowing people to keep players that were originally drafted. So if they traded for a player or picked them up off of waivers, as long as they were originally drafted at the beginning of the year, I allow them to be kept.
one of my long time leagues is transitioning to a keeper league this year and you explained everything very well. good stuff
Awesome! Glad to help. How many keepers are you going with?
