Ducati Multistrada 950 - How to remove the fairing and gas tank.

How to remove the fairing plastics on a Ducati Multistrada 950. Also includes how to remove the fuel tank.
Good Mods. I’m also in process of installing front and rear camera system on my Gran Canyon. Can you pls share where did you draw the power from? was looking for a switch power wire around the battery, and trying to do this without splicing too many wires. Appreciate any guidance.
To power the grips, I modified the stock fuse box and used one of the "spare" fuse holders. I don't recall what switched hot I used but it was probably one of the circuits at the fuse box.
@ thanks!
Hi, they are a great bike aren’t they?! I’m interested in how you modified your stock mufflers, did it require advanced metalworking skills? Thanks, a little more burble would be good but I like how the stock mufflers look
The conversion will require metal skills; cutting, welding & riveting. After I did it, I didn't notice a big difference in volume, just a little more of the Ducati burble.
I heard if u got the saddle bags and go over 85 it may kill u since it causes speed wobbles
I found koso heated titanium chrome but no reviews on them. Anyone has got any experience? I don't know the brand so don't want to buy wrong product.
What is the outside diameter of the grip?
thanks for this video, wish i had seen it before braking the little tab on my gas cap 🙂 What sort of tape did you use between the fairings?
Excellent tutorial, really good work. Thanks a lot!
Great review. You're pleasant to listen to. Please we need more of the Cagiva on TH-cam. Have you had leaking tanks on the bike? If yes, how did you fix it. That seems to be a problem on some od the bikes around here.Thanks.
What was the weight of the rubber hammer ? It is a first time I see so easy and successful attempt to put the grips on. Bravo!
I have no idea. It's a hammer I've had for years.
You can also take many parts of the Navigator as spare parts cause other then the engine, they are the same. But espacially Panels are gotten insanely expensive on ebay...and seats...
What gauge wire did you use?
Usually I'll use 16 gauge. But, most manufacturers are using a lot lighter gauge. My 2006 Ducati ST uses what looks like 20 or 22 for the heated grips.
Very helpful! Thanks !
This was an incredible video. Literally just replaced my gas tank cover through your guidance. Thank you very much 🙌🏽
Спасибо! Очень информативное видео. Приобрету себе такие же.
sick intro
Brilliant Video. How much of this needs to be done to change the spark plugs?
I sold my Multi a while ago but I believe all of it including removing the tank to get to the vertical cylinder.
I just had these grips delivered to my house about 2 hrs ago....they'll go on my 2022MT07 soon...you did a fine job w/ your video...thanks..!
Very helpful video, thanks for providing. I just purchased a 23 Multi V2S, the fairing design is essentially the same as your bike. I purchased the Evotech radiator, oil cooler and exhaust pipe guard. Your video will save me a lot of time and aggravation trying to figure out how the fairings are removed. The only thing I'll need to figure out on my own now is the beak.
Hi Do you have any links to the connectors for the overflow lines - that was far easier to remove with no risk of breakage Thank you - Brilliant video
I would just get them from a dealer.
Very helpful.
I understand how long it takes to edit a video, so I would like to let you know how much I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. Your videography and commentary is fantastic and the detail you covered was straight up brilliant. Thanks for sharing mate, from your new subscriber from the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺
Got lucky buying mine, didn't know there were different sizes but got the right size first try
Do you have to empty the tank before taking it apart? Thanks
No but the lighter it is the easier it is to deal with.
Thanks dude, finally a clear and detailed explanation of how to, and where things come from and how they go back. Cheers
Today I replaced my (broken) electronic fuel door with a regular one, and this video was a life saver.
Great video, thanks.
Great video , Thank a lot BTW, Are you happy with the Heed crash bars?
Yes. They have been extremely durable. And, I can get the panels off without having to remove them. It's a bit of a puzzle but it works.
Thanks for the great run down on the rig . I’m happy you got it back !
You only need to push down on the out ring to remove the pipe from the fuel pump.
That ring is already bottomed out on mine and won't move. There are several other people that have had the same problem. Not sure if ours are broken or if Ducati installed an incorrect part or it was incorrectly installed.
So it would be ok to wire these straight to the battery then. How do these compare to the oxfords any hotter???
You could run them straight off the battery. Just make sure there’s a fuse in line. In regards to the heat, I’ve never used the Oxford ones but full power is warm enough for me to feel it through my winter gloves.
@@stevegsgarage”Just make sure there’s a fuse in line.” Can you elaborate on what this means or how to achieve it? I just ordered these. The most electrical work I’ve done is installing LED and run them straight to the battery. Those lights came with a fuse. Does this grip kit?
@@candacesmith3580 The kit comes with an inline fuse so you can run it straight from the battery.
Oxford grips highest setting is 45 degrees.
I have the Oxford pro set the newest set with button built in they are rubbish no heat whatsoever wouldn't buy Oxford again
THANK YOU
Great bike Mine has more than 90.000 kilometers and runs perfect. What kind of handlebar is that? I can see is not the original.
They're a high rise ATV bar. I'm tall so I need something tall when I stand to ride.
Show us how to service it please
This is very informative, thank you.
lol... no man ever reads the directions first.
awesome mate, greatly appreciate the time you have taken to do this. As you said, there is very limited info about pulling this apart and this has been a big help. I also have the heed bars so goo to know you can still do all this with the bars in place.
Adding these to my Benelli TRK 502.
Thanks a lot for this great video! So to change my tankcover was very easy! Greetings from Vienna

Thank you very much for posting that video. That will be my last Ducati I ever own. Italian engineering is ridiculous. They are only good for performance and design....comfort as well, but practicality is "0"
love this concept
Missing my Elefant 900 that got wrecked by a truck. A GC900 has come up for sale locally. The parts issue makes me think 3x as far as getting another Cagiva. Couldn't repair the Elefant 😭
The parts issue really isn't that bad if you're willing to dig in a little bit. There are some significant components like the tank, fairing and such but you can find alternates for just about everything. Also, there seems to be a lot more support for the bikes from European manufacturers.
@@stevegsgarage I've commissioned replica parts for the Elefant in the past. Such as the airbox to intake runner rubber needing to be recreated. Things like swingarms are not available any longer. Others on the Elefant Adv Bike lost have had swingarm bushings manufactured since you can't get them. I'm not unfamiliar with keeping rare Italian bikes going... Which is why I hesitate 😬
I'm glad you got it back ! Cool review!
Enjoyed the interview! Very informative, thank you.
GREAT STORY!
Thanks for posting! I have a 2016 MTS Enduro and one thing you may want to try is leaving the gas cap on. The red plastic covering will slip over the gas cap around the black rubber seal. Just lift up and forward as it doesn’t take much effort to slip over. Once you do your gas tank will still be completely sealed once you close off the bottom fuel lines. When you reinstall use P-80 emulsion lubricant (costs about $6 on Amazon) around the black rubber gas cap flange/seal. This allows the red plastic cover to slip over a little easier. Also curious if anyone has tried replacing the fuel filter. It’s not in the parts diagram, but there’s one there and I plan to give it a go when I knock out my 36K Desmo service. Videos like this are great and very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to share.
nice to see a new Cgc movie ,wat a nice bike to have and ride .
Thank you 🥳
Thanks so much for all your efforts. I have a V2S, but a lot of the problems will be the same. You saved me a ton of time and headache. Thanks again 🙂
Thanks for the really informative video. It'd be great if you could share any tips on what is needed to gain access to the rear cylinder head to replace the spark plug. Regards from Scotland 🙂
Once the tank fairing is off, unbolt the brackets holding the grommets securing the back of thank. You can then lift the back of the tank enough to replace the plug.
One more thing to add about the S model. Since mine has keyless ignition, the manual ignition switch above the tank is larger and the tank will not lift high enough to allow tank to slide out of the lower mounts. I had to unbolt the mounts from the frame and then all was good. Only 30 seconds to do this extra step.
