New video game review every Saturday. What kind of games? New games, old games, retro games, Nintendo, Xbox, Playstation, Game Boy, Switch, Wii, Wii U, Sega, PC, C64. If it is a game, I will review it.
Videos that aren't game reviews on Tuesdays. Might be the worst parts of great games, or about games that aren't available anymore, or something about gaming accessories, or just some nonsense.

The Trilogy has a pretty low score on Steam. I can't find a working rom for DD 2 so I think I might pick this up just for DD 2. It's only a buck and some change right now. 3 looks awful 😮
@@diggadirt393 3 might be the worst beat'em up I ever played
We need a new one with USB C, i think with the deck's popularity there are a lot more control schemes that make good use of the touchpads
Why you gotta talk like that, couldn't even finish the video 😂
What year is this from? It looks old and new at the same time 😄
@@OldGuyGamingJR the collection just released, but the game was originally released in 2006 for the ds
Some weird thing happened and YT ate my comment during an edit, and I don't want to write it again but you should have one for the algorithm. Tldr this game is the worst of the metroidvania Castlevanias (the maps and the glyph system aren't great), but it still plays well enough and has high enough production value to be a mostly good time.
@@cactrot83 it works better in small doses
I just bought this because of this post! Thank you for letting me know it came out!

As a European, I don't hold any nostalgia towards Oregon Trail. However, I absolutely appreciate it when a developer brings forth a modern take on the old - in more than one sense. I got this gem on the Switch and again on my phone. I loved it enough to purchase it twice!
Good review! I think this game shines as a timewaster (in a positive way), as in the type of game you'd play waiting to get your number called at the DMV or something, where you wouldn't be too mad if your run gets ended prematurely by a random event. I played it a bit on PC and got the mobile version as well. There's another similar game that I like called the Caribbean Sail which would be the 1800s nautical version of Oregon Trail.
If no one dies of dysentery then why should I play? Unless... do they die of dissin Terry?

@@MrBrainX sadly no.
@@TheOffenderBlog retro defender has a special controller for PS3 , so as i told you this , you should give me a retro defender PS3 sixaxis controller as a gift .
While the class system has its issues, the actual worst part is the endgame dungeon, which is actually 1 optional-but-not-really dungeon and 3 mandatory ones. There are no save points, no way to recover unless you go to the bottom of the optional-but-not-really dungeon or back to the beginning where your airship is (tents weren't a thing until IV), no way to quickly escape since Exit and Warp are disabled, and (up until the Pixel Remaster) all of this took 2-3 hours and needed to be finished in one sitting due to said lack of save points. Oh, and there are 5 bosses before the final boss, and each of those are capable of one-shotting your party, forcing you to run the entire 2-3 hour gauntlet from scratch. The final boss just spams an all-party 2,000 HP damage attack every turn when you'll be lucky to have 4,000 per character even with plenty of grinding and can barely heal it back even with 2 characters in the best magic-using class using the best healing spell. It's similar to Bravely Default in that it's SO bad it completely destroys any goodwill that the game had earned up to that point.
@@MrUNIVAC1220 this is true.
@@MrUNIVAC1220 Bravely Default is a series with great ideas and poor execution.
@@TheOffenderBlog My theory is that they either ran out of money after making a great 15-hour game and made it longer to avoid criticism about lack of value, were mandated by Squenix to triple its length without any budget increase, or some combination of those. You should NEVER use "Ghosts 'n Goblins, but 7 times" as your inspiration! In any case, the whole "repeating world" thing turned me off so much that I just completely ignored the 3DS sequel. It's unfortunate because other than that, it is so good! Encounter frequency/payout sliders and macro recording should be in every JRPG, and it has one of the best StreetPass implementations on the entire 3DS.
Final Fantasy III on DS locked it's post game content behind an E-MAIL SYSTEM. What's that? You don't have anyone else around with a DS (me, some 16 years ago)? Well, you ain't getting the ultimate equipment, Onion Knight Class and the Superboss encounter, sorry.
@@MrLisreal Oh yes. One of the worst design choices made by Square Enix
I’m currently playing FFIII on my 3DS and experiencing this exact issue and I don’t know if there is a way to fix it
Love the steam logo
So Castlevania portraits/promo art is usually handled by the legend Ayami Kojima. As you can imagine her work takes a long time and IIRC she had another project at the time. Konami wanted to crank out Dawn and due to that, Iga decided that they would go with the anime style that was popular at the time. Same thing happened to Portrait of Ruin although not as jarring. I think the villains are specially terrible in both games though, Celia, Dmitrii, Brauner and the Lecarde sisters are just kind of shitty design.
@@RasLuine Brauner's portrait bothered me. His sprite looks kind of Nosferatu, and his portrait art does not deliver on that.
@@TheOffenderBlog Yeah it's a shame because if you look at Ayami's take on Charlotte and Jonathan they are great looking characters. I'd love to see her take on Brauner.
I got an aerbes 3rd party controller and its the best controller i used as a fake😂❤

Do you ever use the Steam controller on the Deck? If not, what's the best controller for the Steam Deck? I'm thinking of turning an older PC into a Steam machine for my sister, being used in both game mode and desktop mode but on the living room TV.

"The greater good" is their belíve system aka their religion. They will accept any race with intelligens how also believes in it(or at least says so). So they provide you a safe living on their planet for you and your family with food, water law and order(aka police force) and that is very appealing for many. So take up religion and enjoy the safety and other benefit what the tau provides. (I can see the appeal, because In the empire you _have to_ believe in the emperor or you a heretic and will be executed or worse, for other races you are just biomass to consume)
got a minute in. all self-aware beings should strive to ensure the greatest good for the greatest number of other intelligent beings in the galaxy.
King's Field always looks so awesome when I see it, but it also seems like the sort of game you just can't go back to. Idk, I always feel really conflicted about maybe trying it out. Have you played Lunacid? It's a modern, uh, "King's Field-like" that looks very promising, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
@cactrot83 I bought that on the Steam summer sale. I started playing it, haven't finished it yet. It is very Kings Field like.
Cool
Masterpiece!
I agree with this, makes it VERY hard to go back to this game. For that alone I sort of think Human Revolution is a better, I know that might be a hot take.

We'll, I think you answered your own question. Amy is there to make the games feel fresh. Also, Amy does have some advantages over Sonic. Like if you use the hammer while jumping you can hit enemies that would otherwise hurt you if you touched them (enemies that have spikes, for instance). About the Sonic 2 special stage, it's possible to complete even with a partner. Just make sure you collect all the necessary rings yourself instead of depending on your partner.
Hey man! I agree with your video. But I do think the story is pretty good. Plus, the lizard was really cool and we got like...the best boss fight in the game. (But I never realized the fact about the Lizard, lol.) Thats actually a good point. Nice video though! Keep up the awsome work, and you just earned yourself a subsrciber!

@@Tarquin23 and she has a pointless move set why?

I liked this game a fair amount. The cumbersome platforming where you can jump on the shapes you make in mid-air reminded me of Solstice for the NES, a game I grew up with. They really get a lot out of the very simple toolset you're given. This game also has a sequel that I did not like as much with a pseudo SNES aesthetic.
Working on the sequel. It does lose a lot of the charm of this one.
Nice game I'm also playing it
I'm one of those who played the original Dark Forces, albeit it's PlayStation port. I'm told that remaster runs at a non-standard refresh rate like the original game; users should try to run the game with a screen refresh rate of 72 Hz or 144 Hz to mask certain graphical issues.

Military grade tech can last a long time, especially during peace. For example, Minuteman III missile silos for the longest time used 8-inch floppy disks to load data. Add in the cost of sending super computers into orbit with a corporate monopoly unwilling to improve its products and it becomes much more plausible for a rogue AI to resurface 40 years later. That or be recreated in very similar circumstances.
