I feel like Ill stick to the mantra, there is no such thing as too much power. Its all up to the individual what settings they want at what resolution. Call of Duty and most FPS games DOMINATE on on lower resolutions anyways. You don't want the PC to have any more than I'de say 20ms of frametime, and even that is disgusting. You want the lowest frametimes. These aren't games your going to be sitting and smelling the roses. These are games where you need to PARSE humans from the environment. Movement. Higher graphics = more challenge for the player.

I have to use V-sync cus I play on TV so I cannot use framegen. It felt like playing a streamed game anyway

i have a 1440p 180hz refresh rate with a 7900xt and 5800x3d and on warzone rebirth ect i had no problems running it with a capped refresh rate and pretty much high settings same with bo6, the only time i struggled abit was with the snow mode on the big map for some reason the snow wrecked my fps, also for cyberpunk on high im getting around 130ish on ultra witha few mods and reshade. also dropped a sub coz i love seeing these sorts of videos bacause i have similar hardware

So many people don't want these cards yo be this powerful and I think it's sad.i watch someone with 5080 vs 4080 was twice as fast and 5090 vs 4090 and same in cyberpunk with path tracing with no ghosting. Who cares if it's about ai fram gen that's the future and they are in charge.

Yeah well, here's the thing. Those little shit they put in there, the DLSS the Frame Generation.. use them people. Native 4K is not existent. Forget it. Sure you can get 60+ fps in some games but if you want to juice it up, just use those features no matter how bad you feel about them. They are there for that reason and honestly, you won't even notice much of a difference. You are in 4K, you have a crisp image, thankfully those features are working mostly fine.. so I don't see a problem NOT using them to get proper FPS.

I mean, every major company on Earth will show their new stuff in the absolute best light, so - yes - you're right to point to 'raw power'. But saying FG is fake is utter nonsense. Of course, if it's not giving you what you want in a specific situation, fine, but gaming is a totally fake world anyway. If the eye perceives the frames as a whole and the performance is there, the 'fake' frames are every bit as real as your 'raw' ones.

"I don't like fake frames" even though most graphical effects are already fake. Fake pre-baked lighting, fake screen space reflections which are distracting, so many tricks devs use to gain extra performance can be classed as fake. But a fake frame, even if you can't tell it's fake, nah that's crossing a line. LOL ok. I'll wait to see what the new multi-frame gen is really like before I judge it. Currently I find frame gen works well in some titles and others not so much, but jumping on the 'fake frames are bad and I'll never use it OMG!!!11!' bandwagon is just shooting yourself in the foot because that's the way the industry is moving. Upscaling and frame gen will only become more prevalent.

how can anyone be excited for these ? they'e like 20% uplifts ? i think nvidia leaking out fake prices have made these seem like they're well priced. How can people so easily manipulated. Am i the only one seeing through their bullshit ? far cry 6 is only around a 20% uplift WITH RT on , thats not a good sign since apparently the Ray tracing uplift was the focus, that means raster could be even less. A plague tale looked closer to 30% with RT on, but again...the raster only uplift could be smaller. These are literally just going up one tier for each card, the 5070 replaced the 4070ti, the 5070ti replaces the 4080, the 5080 looks like it wont even match the 4090, its basically a 70 class card. how can people be excited for such a small uplift with prices that still terrible, i dont understand it lol

50 series is likely at least 20% faster than 40 series for similar price plus a bunch of AI features. It's pretty good. Intel and AMD have a long way to go to even catch up to Nvidia.

While I typically play with it on frame generation is incredibly janky at times and I can only imagine how 3 frames per real one is going to look.

5070 should of had 16gb of vram , i then wouldnt mind the 192bit bus, yes i know the vram chip configuration with pcie bus but still shouldn't be the customers punishment

Anyone with minimal math skills should be able to see that the 5070 and 5070 TI are nothing more send new renditions of the 4070 super in 4070 TI super, and roughly costing the same price. (somehow no one seems to remember these cards exist all of a sudden) All that's being offered here is some AI mumbo jumbo, and the new DLSS is going to be backwards compatible, so this is all pretty much joke. People are talking like AMD is cooked, they're in a perfect position to actually give good deals rasterization performance. The 9070 XT will match the 5070 TI and cost $550, the 9070 will match the 5070 and cost $450 And FSR 4 will win the framegen battle and it'll boost all the cards we already have so everyone should just hold out for a few months.

I went to my favourite PC site to see the cost of getting a 5070 TI... They must have a Typo because they are asking £9000.00 for one. If it's £900 it's still way too much.

Id say the 5800x3d can take all gpus out on the market now. (4090 best). Because if you have a 4090... you are not playing on 1080p monitor. 1440p 165hz or 4k monitor is what you game on in that case. So 5800x3d is 🤘🏼 I went with a 7800xt with my 5800x3d, i have a 1440p 165hz monitor. Monitor limits my pc from going to a better gpu. Would be pointless.

I have a PC that has a 3070, im at the point i want to upgrade but i basically have to build a new PC to upgrade. Genuinely asking if i should buy a 4080 or 4090? or consider skipping and try buying a 50 series??

I have a 4080 Super and I want to see how DLSS 4 works with my card before I consider an upgrade (I use MSFS 2024 mostly, and currently FG on at 4k). I want to see if the advertised reduced ghosting really makes a difference especially for glass cockpit displays. I will wait for reviews b4 deciding.

When they say twice as fast, you're right, that's not equating to the actual card running faster, although it will to a point, it's the frame generation. They should be more transparent and say the image runs smoother, not faster. It's smells a bit of smoke and mirrors

Good point about Nvidia's history of "truthiness". I bought both the 3090 & 4090 new. The 5090 could be in the ballpark of nearly $4000 Cdn which prices me out. $2500 Cdn is around my limit. (We have nearly 15% in tax on new items, and our dollar is currently tanking.)

Not sure what the point of the video is. Is 120fps+ 4k the new standard? Did I miss something. The constant bickering about DLSS and scaling options. All consoles do that and barely hit 30fps. Also games today run like garbage. Warzone was a perfect example. Not matter the setting there was barely a difference between 1% and avgs. Digital Foundry has done plenty of videos on the unnecessary detail options that doesn't add anything to the players experience.

I only run 1440p when gaming, so my GPU (4070 Super) is always at >90% usage while my 5600X is typically no more than ~65% usage.

The 4080 super is a slight improvement over the 4070 Ti and from what I’m seeing the 5080 won’t be that much better. For anyone gaming at 4k 144hz or higher you’re going to need a 4090 and honestly I would go 5090 and call it a day. If you grab a 5080 your going to see it’s not enough and the itch for the 5080 Ti or Super when it comes out will become very real which means your going though the hassle and your spending more money

4k card should be able to push native 4k (no FG or DLSS or whatever bs else) at at least 60 fps but imo 120 fps should be minimum

came to the comments because couldn’t believe i was watching someone complain at getting well above 60fps at 4k ultra presets (NATIVE). how can you say that’s not playable??? especially in a single player game. also there is ZERO meaningful difference between native rasterisation and DLSS quality. If you don’t appreciate DLSS and the ai technologies then NVIDIA isn’t the brand for you, seems you would have been happier with the AMD 7900 xt or xtx

Not really. Straddles between 1440p and 4K when max or near-max settings are involved. Even the 4090 is just an Okay 4K card. Estimate only when 7090 or 8090 arrives, will current top games be played 4K60 max settings natively.
