Instead of a time skip, both Bronte & Cyril as adults in the current time may have moments of reminiscence here & there, and you as the reader will get to learn more about their younger years that way. ☺ Haha, Cyril really dug his heels in against me! I expected it, and yet it still surprised me. 😂 I think it took… six weeks? For me to finally figure out a way to make it so I could keep him true to character, and do what the plot needed. I really can’t stress how pleased I am! I really hope the moment is impactful to outside readers. 🙏 You truly flatter me, thank you so very much! It’s very humbling to hear I come across that way, I’ll do my best to live up to your kindness! 💪 I didn’t know about the Broadway rendition of The Hunchback of Notre Dame for the longest time, and I’m so ashamed! It’s such a beautiful rendition, and I’m obsessed with some of the songs unique to it (such as “Esmeralda”, which remains a favorite. Also the Broadway version of “God Help The Outcasts” is in Bronte’s playlist, for sure…) I love the visuals & the vast worlds of Bloodborne & Elden Ring, but I love worlds like that the most when they’re balanced with joy, so that’s what I hope for! I want to give the Vampire Hunters something worth fighting for. Not just mere survival, but fighting for something good, that they want to protect. 🗡🩸 That’s very kind of you! I really thrive in environments where I can be methodical on my own terms, that way I can have the benefit of both structure & creative freedom. Both the animatic & writing have really helped with that, I’m very grateful to them! (Even if it ruins my sleep schedule sometimes.) Maybe he got sick of it whapping him in the chest every time he spun around. 🤣 Or it got sick of his whining and angry ranting, and decided to politely leave. 😂 If I ever have the spare time to clean up my playlists, I’ll think about it, as a treat. 😉 After all, Bronte’s playlist IS one of my favorites…. Aaaah, thank you so much! I sincerely hope you enjoy the read! Morally grey (dirty, filthy black) characters are my jam & I hope Cyril scratches that itch. And the slow burn, ugh, my favorite. The flavor! But seriously, I'm thrilled for you to meet the characters, see the relationships & explore the world! I put a lot of effort into this world, creating the lore, building the magic system, the clergy, etc. I really hope it comes across to the reader & feels immersive! And that's so good to know, thank you so much! I really appreciate hearing that, because I am so sentimentally attached to the Hellfire animatic, but I didn't want that to cloud my judgement about spoilers. It's incredibly helpful to have an outside opinion! The romantic subplot is between Bronte & Cyril, yes! They are very much the main characters. Though, in general, a lot of the various interpersonal relationships will matter. As for your questions: Have either of them had relationships before? Cyril absolutely has had relationships, though how seriously he treated them (since he would have been rather young at the time, think late teens-early twenties) is highly debatable. It'd be more accurate to refer to them as casual "flings", I think. Definitely the sort of naughtiness he indulged in when he was younger, with far fewer responsibilities, and less respect for the religion. It'd be unthinkable to him now, matured as he is & in his role as Archbishop. Bronte has definitely had crushes before... but, both due to what she is, and the way the church chose to handle/disguise that, she isn't particularly popular or well-liked. She's viewed with general suspicion by most, so any crush would have been unrequited. Those crushes were mostly in her late teens, as well. At her current age (mid-twenties), most of her colleagues are Brothers & Sisters, now, and they have therefore taken their vows. Which leads in to your second question... Does the church require a vow of chastity? Yes, yes they do. (Delicious) While there are exceptions (For example, the position of Deacon, which in this world is a quasi-clergy and not considered a "real" Monk), the vowed clergy are expected to abstain from both romantic & sexual entanglements. Both Bronte & Cyril will have to grapple with that, what it means to each of them - whether it's guilt or resentment or frustration. Thank you so much for watching & your for your lovely comment! 🌹

Let me think- I think, poor Cyril, for all his etiquette... he just has far too bloody a reputation & too intimidating a demeanor. He's the sort where you can tell (when you dare talk to him at all) that you are annoying him JUST by your being there, and he'll give you the side-eye to prove it. I'm sure there must be SOME people out there who think he's physically attractive? But there's so many handsome (and much younger) Hunters & Huntresses to swoon over, who needs the grumpy one that never learned what a smile is (even if Cyril is ripped). Then again, Cyril is suffused with magic that often makes him feel warmer & more approachable than he'd probably like, and as Archbishop he inevitably needs to act... decent. Most of the time. Bronte imagines herself quite plain. She definitely has a charm to her, but with her staying within the church grounds, she's never really around people who would focus, comment, or compliment her on her appearance (at least, no one who would say it aloud to her - cough, Cyril, cough). She's attractive enough to catch several eyes, though. And, blessed be, she is far more personable & amiable than Cyril. She's curious and intelligent and makes for very good conversation, which is always an attractive trait - it pairs well with her peach-pink cheeks & her genuine smile. She's also a curvy lass, and who doesn't like curves. Bronte, too, has a drop of magic in her - but whether or not that influences people's perception of her remains to be seen.
