Thank you all so much for nice comments, I'm glad you enjoy this song as much as I do. I would like to add, that I was like 14 when I made this video and also that english is not my first language, so I apologize for any mistakes in the lyrics - looking back, I see that there might be errors in punctuation. Also unfortunately I'm unable to credit artworks used in this video, so I would like to give thanks to artists. Have a nice day!
Melodia wtórna do schematu harmonicznego.
I was a Genesis lover until I heard Marillion for the first time. This was back in 1986. Two weeks later I had all CD available. Impressive music, sound, Fish´s voice...... Unbeatable
I remember Tommy Vance playing it on The Friday Rock show around 1984, and it blew me away. Spent the next six weeks searching for the 12". A prized possession to this day that sits snugly beside my Script picture disc!
Was a big fan of Beowolf at a very young age. When I read about Marillion (Kerrrang) in the 80's and this song , I had to get the album. Never regretted it.
Some said they followed genesis maybey I think they followed themselves a truly underated band who has continued I would agree that the guitarist is probably one of the best in the world good on yeh Steve
Great song. I can sort of see why Fish wanted to move on from it into more personal, social realist songwriting but he should be proud of this still, as should the rest of the band.
I'm sure I've never heard of this song, but strangely, it feels quite familiar. Does anybody lnow any songs that's sharing similar melodies? Maybe that's why it feels familiar.
La nuova ondata prog venne ribattezzata NEW PROG!!!!!!!!
I got introduced to this type of music and more specifically this artist whilst in high school through my best friend whilst living in St. Lucia ( home land). He's parents were originally from England. I've moved and I'm now 54 and when ever I play this song it takes me back to those high school days. Love this song. Fish, indeed a true legend.
I am Marillion fan
Friday night-sunny for once in Newcastle, pint of ale n a nice chill in the garden whilst Grendel blasts out for 17 minutes-perfect!
Love this. Have it on 12" vinyl. A beautiful creation.
Fish was incredible. Neo Prog was never as fancy as the British Prog played ten years earlier but this epic matches up.
An absolute disaster compared to earlier Marillion songs, no wonder that "Misplaced Childhood" was their last big hit at the time.
This song was first released in 1982
Marillion, IQ, Peter Gabriel, Dream theater ❤
First part has the same chords and harmonies of song "vangelis - la mort du loup"
I am A Marillion fan
Fantastic music...for evet. Fish amazing. And Steve too.
Such a wonderful story, so well told'
Gods
Música sensacional! Fish the best!

12:00 sounds a bit Rush, not complaining wonderful song, superb music. Discovered Genesis in 1978,then came Marillion. How lucky was I.
Rush????😂😂😂😂😂😂
------ judgment day --------
i think it's "rapid in the darkness"
When the screen turns red - the incubus is launched - Well done with pics and lyrics thank you !

Definitely influenced by Genesis’ “Supper’s Ready”
X
Grendell is ready. Masterpiece in 9.8.
The best song ever and ever!❤❤🙋♀️🙋♂️😻🖖
GRENDELING TIME.

What a livechanging music
My favourite Marillion song. Thanks for pitting it on YT. 🙂
Don't ye just hate the comments saying they are just copying early Genesis
8:55 Best part with that chorus guitar in the background.

I used to cycle home from university with this, and other Marillion songs on my walkman. Eventually the tape broke.

My favorite song
😂marrillion for ever !!!😂
15.27 onwards reminds me a bit of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or Blake's 7. I say that in a delighted and respectful way.

Was a Marillion fan before I ever heard this but when I did it blew me away
As you say it blows you away
As you say it blows you away
Super
15:26 is what you came for.

underrated masterpiece of progressive rock
May have been mentioned but this is an awesome live version of Grendel. th-cam.com/video/RH5KWsYZONo/w-d-xo.html
This was on the B side of the 12inch Market Square Heroes single.
At 8:55 it becomes totally incredible.
I think the same. The song overflows with sublime music but that organ part does not excite me to the point of ecstasy.
