CHECK THIS IF YOUR LIGHT DOESN'T WORK REPAIRING LICENSE PLATE WIRING#repair #trailer #lights #fixed
It's a complete bearing and hub assembly, check the new part.lol.stupid video.
@MichaelAntus-p2j sounds like you've never been a mechanic before and had a bearing assembly split apart on you lmao
Thats a great way destroy the threads on the bolts.
@xxmrbeamsxx711 not if you thread them in at least half way. They are so fine thread and such a tight fit it doesn't even matter. I've done this for years. Never had a single bolt messed up from it.
He better take out that abs senor out
@@keithallen566 new bearing comes with it
Thats a GM bearing. New ones come with the sensors already in them.
Would a slide hammer not work?
@jayfeeley6873 all depends on what tools you have to work with. I like to try to make videos that make it as relatable as possible for anyone to do the work. Also this one was already pretty much split apart so I didn't want it to fully separate and make a mess using a slide hammer
@@jayfeeley6873 I put three bolts in and walk it out with air hammer less stress on ball joints
Shouldn't really hurt the ball joints anyway. If the ball and socket are tight, then there's nothing to really worry about. You can use a lot of different tricks though. I try to help the regular DIY guy or someone that does road calls with basic tools. Plus I was on a road call and left my good tools at my shop. Lol
Use air hammer on bolt

Chinese made bearing
@@haroldtinsley5940 yup! But the main issue was the lack of lubrication
Do you know🤔
First issue with that bearing is C H I N A stamped on the race
@@alowitiousmckay5563 💯
@alowitiousmckay5563 main issue though is that there wasn't even any oil in the bath.
China, not surprised. It's a Fruitliner and they're cheap built trucks
@GreggWalken-xd3qv fruitliner, freightshaker, how many other names can get think of??
That’s a mistake you only make one time
@TillURide420 ya my mistake was taking it to that tire place. You are right. I will not be taking it back to them haha
Yea this is what i expect from todays "mechanics".
@@M.TTT. right? If you do tires for a living, then how does this happen??
Yes thank you everyone I've seen just says fuck it and don't even try and check the inner tire because 90% of them that I see are like this it's not hard to turn it a little before you put it on
It should be pointed out that the tank is not the only place that can introduce water into the system, but it is definitely handy for eliminating it as a possibility.
Actually I was going more so for contaminated fuel from a bad transfer tank/station or if someone had accidentally left the cap off.
There is kolorkut water finding paste, and Mccabe’s water level indicator. We use them for petroleum inspecting for finding water 👍🏼
@_Oblivion_ good stuff!
Also can use electrical solder to fill gaps if you are too lazy except to touch a hammer. Put some sticks of solder inside and smack until cozy, remember battery mostly plastic, and hammers are not.
@hotdstoneynonononono2225 your just tapping the terminal back onto the battery. It's a regular practice. Soldering would take much longer. You can also use a file. Hack saw. Whatever else. This is the fastest easiest thing to do in a pinch.
@@RampageGarage Not hitting the terminal at all, as that can break the battery, above only talks about hitting cold solder into the empty space filling the gap. Done this on the hwy to help motorists for years, its not meant to fix the terminal, it gets you to a mechanic. Edit, daughter told me to say solder comes in a coiled tin form and also a bigger must heat type composed of higher temp metals. This is the soft hand breakable kind used in models, or large cable meshing.
@hotdstoneynonononono2225 As long as it's a lead-free compound, then sure, it works, and it's not a bad idea at all. Most solders don't serve as conductors though but more of an insulator. That's why you never ever solder air bag wiring. Raises resistance depending on your actual contact patch. Alot of manufactures prefer actual metal over solder tin. Again just saying most solders are more of insulators. Either way, that's not here, no there, just saying it's easier to find a rock if you are stranded somewhere. You take the cable off. Smack the terminal a little.. then twist the terminal back on the battery post.. if need be tap it with the rock.. not hitting it.. you're not trying to break the battery. The seals won't become fatigued by you just tapping the terminal back and forth on the battery. It does not matter.
Never seen that stuff, does it work with petrol or 'gas'? or just diesel?
Works in anything i believe 👍 👍 just shows if there's water. I just chose diesel because that's when you really notice issues
I buy new ones
@@novass7493 right but this is for if you are stuck somewhere or in a pinch and can't replace them yet. We all understand they technically should be replaced.
Well I run the screwdriver through the battery and now I’m in room 204 at the hospital. Thanks again.
@rzrryder28 lol woah woah do as i say not as I do lmao 😂 knew someone would bring that up. I didn't have 2 hands available. Also whyd you use a sledge? 😵
Or just clearance the gap with a grinding disc?
@gregharris4139 yup you can do that too. Just wear a mask. Not great to breathe in lead. This video is just for people in a pinch that don't really have tools. And that might be stranded
Or don't overtighten it in the first place. It's lead. It will stretch when overtightened.
Absolutely right. But if you do happen to over tighten them.. this is how you fix it for the time being before you get new ones. This is for the ones that made the oops in the first place or their mechanic did haha
Take off the Terminal End back out the bolt and take a flat file and take off some lead and reinstall the bolt and put the terminal back on the battery and you will have more material to tighten the bolt and nut!
Yup! That works as well! Just all depends on what you have on hand stuck in a parking lot lol. Sometimes all you can find is a rock. But definitely a better alternative if you have a file with you
Make sure you get the dipstick all the way down to the bottom of the tank. Fuel floats on water most of the time. You'll notice this whenever you drain your water separator.
I just replace the fucked up terminal and charge the customer accordingly! If it’s a side job I just replace the terminal and charge the customer accordingly. Pretty simple IMO.
@kameltyzzoe bro this isn't for a mechanic that's working on a customers car. This is for someone in a pinch lmao watch the whole video. I say "this'll work until you can replace the terminal"
@ yea I get that. You could easily take a screw and send it between the post and terminal. Lock it in place. You could use a hacksaw and cut a bigger gap between the pinching end and close that gap as well. These would be better option than smacking it with a hammer. That just ovals the hole so the entire inside of the terminal doesn’t contact the post and is still loose. But I still get what you’re saying.
@kameltyzzoe all of those would work. But if you are stuck somewhere all you might have around is a rock. No tools. I understand that I used tools in this but if you think about it you would technically only need a rock to get you going. Also, even if it becomes an oval shape it's still going to make enough contact with the post to be able to start the car.. after that it doesn't matter.. when the alternator takes over that battery won't see nearly enough amperage draw to cause any sort of resistance issue in the path. I've never had an issue.
My dad used a penny. Any old timers out there to back me up?
You can use any metal
@ or you can maintain your car like you should, is the second largest investment in your life.
@dartanialgarcia7179 You should tell your dad that, he's the one that used a penny
@dartanialgarcia7179 that is an interesting one. I know most thinner metals work to take up the space. I just use this trick because it works just as well most of the time
@dartanialgarcia7179 well yes but that's why at the end of the video I say "until you can replace the terminal" this is just for anyone in a pinch or stuck somewhere
They make battery connection pliers that will open the whole wide so the connector cables will slide on very easily
@PaulHopper-q8d that's kind of doing the opposite of what's being achieved here. Plus I just tap them on with a brass hammer if they are hard to slide on. Just have to make sure you don't have the wrong side since the ground and positive are different sizes
Then damage the battery post until it leaks it's gases and starts crystal forming blueish oxides corroding the wires.
@redseantlworld lol, what are you talking about?? That's not how that works. As long as you're not really swinging a hammer to on the terminal to get it seated on the battery, then you're not going to "damage the battery".. Just don't beat on the damn thing to cause it to start leaking.. I've literally never had corrosion start because of that.
@RampageGarage I didn't hammer it though. I'm forever cleaning this stuff.
@redseantlworld then how on earth did you damage the battery???? Did you pull or push at an angle to unsent the "seal"?? There's no way to make the gasses come out and cause corrosion yourself just taking the terminal off and putting it back on. Most of the time I use a brass hammer even to get them back on. Never had a problem. I dont think I'd blame that on yourself if you just did it properly. I would say it's just a coincidence and a bad seal that was just waiting for the right moment. Just cover it in battery grease after you clean it and it will help prevent corrosion from starting again.. may even help prevent gasses from escaping as well since the grease is somewhat thick but idk I wouldn't trust that I would just charge it every now and then when you aren't using/driving it.
@@RampageGarage thanks man. Appreciate your response
@redseantlworld ya sorry about the first message. Sounded like you were saying I was damaging the battery haha hopefully this helps you. Terminal or some sort of dielectric grease works like a charm. I put it around the base of the post the all over the terminal before and after I install it on to the battery
Don't forget the terminals are tapered smaller at the top and bigger at the base. So make sure you're getting all the way down.
@@dustinwilson492 absolutely 💯
There only $5 each that guy need one years ago.
@jasonlopez4855 when customers say "I can't afford it" you do what you can to get them back on the road safely. This is for anyone that's in a pinch lol that's why at the end of the video I said "until you can get a new terminal" lol but ya he should definitely get a new one. At least it's not heavily corroded I guess
That's silly because it's a lot more work but you just did been replaced the end of the terminal
@jamessignorelli852 if you are saying it takes more time to do this quick fix than it takes to properly replace it with a new one then thats completely wrong. Besides this is for someone in a pinch or stuck somewhere.
People are lazy look how fucked up that terminal is and instead of just spending 5$ and replacing it which takes a few minutes just did mine he wastes time doing this laziness at its finest thank god I don’t take my car to lazy people like this
Recently figured out the old adage of “slow is fast, fast is slow” is absolutely true. Always used a drill on max speed, tried out the slower speed this weekend on a project and was amazed by the accuracy and ease. Great video 👍
@WylderTyler absolutely 💯 it's crazy the stupid things I would do when I was younger, not listening to the more experienced guys, and when you finally try it out and it works, you feel damn af haha
I just put bare copper wires in the gap and squished it all nice and tight. Never had an issue since!
@@superchuck3259 interesting ideas to get the same results 👍 💡
Strips of a can when need be
@JayValle-c6n I guess haha
Man. As a mechanic I'm seriously mad and impressed with the simplicity. This will definitely go in my toolbox for the future! I think we've all fought a losing battle with a terminal or two haha. The real sucky terminals are the metal band style with a slit down the middle after some light corrosion they melt to nothingness.
@Hettdizzle haha tricks of the trade are always nice to keep around and share 👍 👍 and ya at that point you almost have to replace the crap ones with good ones haha
My 30-year-old Corolla still has its original battery cables with those crappy ends. But if you keep them clean and put a light coating of anti-corrosion spray on them, they'll last forever. Probably put four or five batteries in that car since it was new. Preventive maintenance. It's not that hard LOL
@robertthayer5779 haha yup as long as you throw grease on them and don't over tighten them everything will stay in great condition

The easiest way to start with this is with a freeze frame, see what was on when the failure occurred. If that don't tell you nothing then go into the long game
@wewillsurviveone yup that works great on cars. This unfortunately doesn't even have a computer, haha
@RampageGarage oh yeah, it's all manual then. I'm about the only person in the Dayton Ohio area right now willing to get into wiring issues. If they can't get it managed with a scanner and a part swap then they give up. It's good to see it's not a completely dying art as a few people on here are throwing up videos. And good to see you are actually giving good advice because it's easy for anyone to get lost in a inconsistent shorting or open issue
@wewillsurviveone It's good business to know you are there pro in the area! And thankyou I love diagnosing wiring issues. As soon as it gets into issues related to corrupt coding or inconsistent internal computer issues then I gotta call my guy haha
@RampageGarage right. I have what was supposed to be a bad ass scanner that would code, burn eeprom chips, burn keys, match smart keys, about anything you want. In use tho the customer service absolutely sucks and anytime I run into an issue there's no help at all. I tried to add a key to my Mazda 3 which you probably know is Ford anyways, which require an out code you give to Ford then they give you an in coffee that you enter into the scanner. It took it, it was a good code but it didn't take. I burnt up 4 coins trying to do this. Best price is about a buck a piece but worse case is twenty to thirty a piece. Thank God it was a buck. But it's called a launch x431. About $1500 to get no customer support
I'll be honest I was looking into launch scan tools. Our verus is 10 years old. It's nice because of the scope but it just keeps having connection issues with the wireless plug in and half the times it gives out false readings on live data so it's becoming useless besides the 4 channel scope. Good to know I shouldn't go with launch. I hate not having good customer service. I've been looking at the Bosch 625 as well. Seems like it does pretty good for the American and the Euro cars
U can’t drive? 😂😂
@MrPaul-im4nr lol sometimes you just need a little help i guess. For $14k worth in wheels id definitely want an extra eye for less than a couple inches of clearance on a turn lmao

Can you tell me what you do to bleed the fuel lines after you change the filter?
@DPM_182 Luckily, most systems have low side in line fuel pumps and return fuel systems now, so bleeding is unnecessary. On manual bled systems. I would first make sure the new filter is full of fuel (either pre filling it or cracking it and prime it with the plunger or bulb system primer). Then try and start it. If it still doesn't want to turn over and stay running, then crack the injectors just enough for air to escape when the injectors are firing. Shouldn't need more than 1/4 turn counter clockwise on each injector. Then, get the machine/truck running and tighten the injectors while the engine is running. Dont forget to wear safety glasses. And keep clear of that fan and belt. Now IF for whatever reason there's no manual primer pump on the system. You can technically use compressed air and pressurize the fuel tank with a blow gun and a rag in order to force air through the system.. BUT you need to be extremely careful not to blow out any seals or injector tips.. only use a very tiny amount of air pressure to force fuel through the system.
Do it every fuel filter replacement. 10,000 miles
@timonraccoon 10k miles or every 200 hours. But should be done no matter what once a year if it has a bowl
