Had 2 '65's they are built Ford Tough , only thing is that bed is not a '65 , 65 was the first year of all the brands that had a latching tailgate , 64 was the last year for chain hooks on Fords and the bed wheel well was lowered halfway down and swept back . 65 was a big year for Ford , full of innovative ideas , took GM and Dodge a few years to answer back
You have an exhaust leak there...probably the flanges at the exhaust ports, very common for the old FE engine....shaving a very thousandths off the exhaust manifolds, either originals or aftermarket headers will seal it up just fine. Unfortunately those bolts for the exhaust since they go thru to the other side, they"re prone to snapping off...lots & lots of "liquid wrench" should help.
