MISSING|EPISODE ONE
Missing / Episode One: Jiufen
----
Hey, bro… where did you go?
It’s been a week since you vanished.
We were just there, wandering through the streets of Jiufen, laughing, planning our next stop.
I looked back -and suddenly, you were just… gone.
I searched every corner, every alley, calling your name, but… nothing.
It almost felt like you slipped into another world, one I can’t reach.
So… if somehow you hear this, find your way back to me. I’ll be waiting.
----
New stuff I'm trying out. Call me cringe, idc.
These frames are when I went to Taiwan for just two days last September. Just have a few more coming up (not necessarily this series because I want to use all the footage I captured, not just stills). The vibe we got in Jiufen was perfect for the moody blue-green color grade -I love it.

. With a super tight schedule at the end of the year and a broken SSD on Christmas that caused some data loss, I wasn’t sure if I could pull this off. I’m glad I managed to get something out. I know it’s not the best video I’ve ever made, and I wasn’t able to include everyone I met or every location I visited (especially since I can’t access some of the data until I get back home). I didn't eve...

As they remain, you believe you hold on on to every detail but what we remember isn't exactly what happened. It's something we felt personally. -it takes in the reality and mixes it in with your emotions, making it just for yourself. Traveling creates special memories. It makes yo...

The video is chilling, you did an amazing job. In fact, all your works evoke emotions, change something in the soul, give warmth and tranquility, or, on the contrary, uplift the spirit. This is because you put not only all your strength into your work, but also your soul. Therefore, your photos and videos tell stories, and these stories are more interesting and more than words could say.
I spent a lot of time on this, so I'm really happy to get this kind of reply on my video. I try my best in telling stories so I'm glad you felt that!
This is the best thing I've seen lately.
really glad to have this kind of comment on this video because I worked hard on this. Thank you!!
You take very good and beautiful photos. I love all your photos. Always follow and wait to see beautiful pictures.

Congratulations Kai! Very beautiful story and short film. I am looking forward to your next one.
Thank you! I'm glad you found the story beautiful. We'll definitely create more short films in the upcoming months!
Kai, I don’t know which thoughts to start with first. Emotional or technical. LOL! Emotional because I’m watching this after I’ve seen The Album and I didn’t know this is also another Kazuma collaboration. The growth you both had in telling a story from this is ridiculous! I can see the pieces of what’s great about this and was kept in the album and further enhanced by the skills you developed through the year! Technical because your color grading also improved dramatically. Here, you were still using effects, relying on certain cuts to hide things you didn’t quite know how to pull off, and still testing how to frame certain scenes. Now your cuts are clean, cinematic/no fluff and pure hard cuts with no wooshes or crazy transitional effects between frames. I have so much to say, but I’m sure you already had a similar analysis to all of this. I just want to acknowledge that your thoughts are also validated. Regardless, the trick is still a great piece and it was a step to get you to the album. :)
Taku, thanks for watching this old video I now find myself not wanting to spread it that much, while knowing it is good to keep it to know how much I've improved. I sucked at color grading back then, I didn't know how to edit LOG. Yes, I was using a lot of effects, and although The Album contained none, I'm wanting to learn professional VFX so I can make those effects from scratch. I did know the improvements I made, but you explained it so well, again it helped me analyze my own work. Thank you!
This was so beautiful and professionally done. Keep up the good work! You just gained a new subscriber and I’ll be “patiently” waiting for more videos. 🥹 You have such a talent!!!
Thank you very much! I'll definitely keep on making more films! Since I usually upload videos on Instagram, I am planning to post some old videos on Instagram up here on TH-cam!
This made me want to just hug that boy. Almost in a way like hugging your inner child, you know? That’s something I’ve had to learn how to do over the past year, protect and LOVE the little me as I’m growing and healing 🥹 and it feels nostalgic in a way like this film. Really, REALLY well done !! 🙏🏼
Haha I get that feeling though. I love how you said "love the little me." I'm glad you liked the short film. Thank you so much!
