I know that this is about Jack's redemption, but ever since I was laid off from my job in July and I watched this again, this is a reflection of my own inner turmoil as I am forced to reflect on my own self that has manifested for the past six years. This has stemmed from my inability to trust people after I am betrayed and used for the loose ends of people who took advantage of my anger and distrust. For the past few months, while being unemployed, I had to reflect on my own self-healing and mental health. I had to rethink my own life and make hard choices that I never thought I would have to make. I may have landed a new job that will start in December, but as soon as I am certified for data analysis, I will leave my career of being a chef due to the lack of job security, the high level of stress caused by it (especially with the people I had to deal with and the toxic environment I was surrounded in), low pay, and my loss of desire to advance in the field because of manipulation, favoritism, and nepotism. I pray that my life will get better with the choices I made.

It would be the best thing in the world for Jack if the monk just said "oh yea- the sword's just over here" or "you don't have the cardio you used to, you just aren't in your 30's anymore" or "your quads need work, you've clearly been skipping leg day". The worst thing possible to hear in that situation is "your body is perfect. You have everything you need...but you just can't figure out how to do what needs to be done." It's the monk telling him that he has to face himself, call himself a fool for not being smart enough, and accept that and plan accordingly. The easiest path is the physical one, but the mental path is almost impossible.

ah man, i grew up on this show, its so good. and when i first heard it was coming back i was so stoked. plus as an adult who really wrestles with my mental health its really interestingly cathartic to see Jack struggling with a very similar experience. gives me a peculiar sense of strength. love this show dude. <3
