Building a custom frame, with mahogany inlay, and splines.
Using oak, and mahogany to build a custom frame for a Van Gogh souvenir. It's a very simple frame that looks fancy.

Three watch boxes, from three oak boards

Building Panel Clamps from Unistrut (4 way pressure clamps).
มุมมอง 5Kปีที่แล้ว
Panel clamps are a great tool for any woodworker. In this video I build a set from unistrut and a panel clamp kit (also known as 4 way pressure clamps). These are the best way I've used to glue up perfectly flat panels. #woodwork #woodworking #wood #woodworkingart #woodworker #woodworking_projects #woodworkingprojects #woodart #woodartist #customwoodwork #customwoodworking #woodshoplife #woodshop
T-track install in my workbench

Installing a T-track to make my outfeed table a little more useful. I used pieces I had leftover from a previous project, so I didn't have much to work with. But, It was still completely worth it! #woodwork #woodworking #wood #woodworker #woodworking_projects #woodworkingprojects #customwoodwork #customwoodworking #woodshoplife #woodshop #t-track #workbench

Epoxy and Maple Chess Set
มุมมอง 11K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a video of my first attempt at an epoxy resin chess set. I used a deep poor epoxy, and a leftover piece of tiger maple. Not only is this my first attempt at a chess set, but it's also my first attempt at a TH-cam video. Let me know what you think. I can also add narration if anyone is interested. #woodwork #woodworking #art #artwork #wood #maple #woodworkingart #woodworker #woodworking_...

    The plywood is definitely a great look, but I would be hard pressed using that for a cutting board. Mostly because the plywood is put together at the factory with glue that is not designed for this application. Was that considered when making this board?

    I recently used some pieces of unistrut as clamping cawls, along with traditional clamps. But those pressure clamps look pretty slick - I think I'll have to try them out.

    Just use the rockler type clamps and u have both with one setup. I got rid of my toggle clamps, too much changing for wood sizes.

    • @KyleS860
      @KyleS860 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re absolutely right, I made the toggles just because I had them. But ended up buying the rocker ones.

    Hi there Jonnie... how u doing? I have a question, did the wood move?🤔... awesome build bro, i want to use hardwood, with plywood stips in-between all the blocks... just wonding about this wood movement thingy everyone talks about... i hardly use hardwood. Mostly make plywood designs

    do you think the 13/16" strut will work or is there a possibility of flex? they're both 12 gauge and i can't image there is too much clamping pressure with these but the other strut is a lot lighter.

    • @dusbus2384
      @dusbus2384 ปีที่แล้ว

      also might allow for gluing up thicker boards

    • @jonniewood
      @jonniewood ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think that would be fine. They are pretty rigid because of their shape. I used these because I had them laying around.

      Was just faced with the question. While in the store hand tested the shorter stuff (would have liked to use it) but could flex it fairly easily. Get the big stuff

    Maybe I’m looking into this too much and without full knowledge of nuts and bolts and thread types… So if I’m reading this correctly the cone nuts are 1/4-10 in other words 1/4 inch hole with 10 thread count per square inch and The screws or bolts are 1/4-20 which makes it 20 threads per square inch Is this correct and if so does that pose a problem when screwing then in possibly stripping out the nut, bolt or both??? Sorry for long question

    • @jonniewood
      @jonniewood ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure, they fit nicely, and have stayed tight since install? But your right, one says 10, and the other says 20.

    • @stewartbonner
      @stewartbonner 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      basic public domain life knowledge and basic logic ability. no such thing as a 1/4 10. Tighten hard enough and any nut will strip out. Have you never even spun a nut on a bolt? Such no-knowledge of basic mechanics you would be a hazard in any shop or task involving hand tools let alone power tools. To make and use these devices where would one start to instruct you on basic mechanics and basic materials? In a YT comment section? What full knowledge of nuts and bolts? It's a nut and bolt and thread concept has been in use since Michelangelo and da Vinci times.

    Very Dangerous practice on the table saw at 6:05. Two things, First, that wood could easily get caught by the blade and rocket back towards you,even with the riving knife. I have had it happen. You need to use a push stick. Second when you reach around and grab that same piece you create a more dangerous situation where your hand could get pulled back into the blade. I hope you change the way you do this, because other people watching will think this is ok and do it as well.

    Seems really risky to use plywood on any part of a cutting board! For starters it seems like a really good chance the plywood won't always be avoided with a knife and I didn't notice a warning to anyone who might try to copy this and unknowingly use plywood for food prep?! What if the toxic glue from the plywood leaches into the maple when washing it at some point?

    • @jonniewood
      @jonniewood ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate the concern….I’ve done some research on the amount of formaldehyde present in Baltic birch plywood, and I’m comfortable with using it as a border for my own projects. I’m not going to sell this cutting board, and this is not a how-to video….. just me building something I thought was cool in my shop. I do recommend that anyone building anything should do their own research when it comes to safety concerns. Also my wife thinks it’s too heavy, so it will most likely never be used.
