Really great video - i have been searching for details about the Blue sea switch panels for a long time - your video was excellent and showed the information i was after
My labels don’t light up even though there are backlights. Do I have the wrong labels
Try check out rep fitness for home gym equipment and rogue fitness has plenty of options on their website
very clear description of how to install and how it works!
Question, why do you need the negative bus bar? Can’t just wire the negative straight to the switch panel?
You don't need the negative bus, a wire to the battery negative terminal also works. The negative bus is a choice I made for organization
Why did you add an In-Line Fuse to the bow light when there was already a 1 AMP fuse in place?
That was a mistake. I used it in case the positive and ground alligator clips touched, but the 1 amp fuse would have been sufficient
@@eastsidewrenching ahh gotcha, thanks for the reply 👍
Thank you for being straight forward and to the point, a lot of you tube reviews are so drawn out and ridiculous
So helpful, exactly what I needed!
Do you have to drill to install the pull up bar?
No, sorry I didn't show that part, the holes come pre-drilled
Dimesions of the pull up bar.... looks very small👍✅️
Agreed, it is just under 28 inches wide
How has the machine held up? Is it still a good choice for home gym? Has your opinion changed on anything?
It is still a good choice, no issues so far. I recently took the weights off and I am planning to rotate the machine away from the wall. If your floor isn't level I would definitely say that it's worth making shims for the feet out of wood and then adding the weights after.
It's OK they don't draw hardly any amp micro amps
Thanks for the video. From 6:00 onward that light is basically useless. Same issue with all of them.
I wouldn't say useless, it'll still reflect off of hazards in the water
@@_Truth_777 Yes I admit you are right. It's better than no light and you can at least move forward. But it doesn't illuminate enough to cruise at any speed. But then again none of them that I've seen really do.
I'm 6'5" or 197cm tall. Do you think I'll be too tall for this machine? What is the height from floor to the bar at the top? Great video btw, thank you for sharing this.
Thanks, the floor to the top of the crossbar is 6' 8". The floor to the bottom of the crossbar is 6' 4"
I anchored mine to the ceiling - One angle iron at each end - solid as a rock now
Perfect
They make the best LED lighting..!!
Interesting series of videos. I picked up a few details I missed by watching both episodes. I'm in the process of installing the 4 gang version of this panel in a 15' Boston Whaler. The boat has no protection from the weather and salt spray. I have a couple of questions and a remark. Can you share the relay particulars? What is the make and model number of the relay you are using? Where did you shop for it? Does it come with the base? And finally, is the relay designed for marine use? I just have one remark, I'm pretty sure I understand your concept (thank you for sharing this, it's helpful) but it would have been good to have a simple hand drawn wiring diagram, maybe just a photo of it. Thanks again for posting the videos.
Hi Frank, the relay is an iRhapsody waterproof 12V relay from Amazon that I already had laying around. It is listed as B074FSZWVT . It came with the harness. I haven't looked around much but if you have time to buy a name brand one, that would probably last longer. Thanks for the feedback
Never use a different gauge wire for your ground. Always use the same gauge for both legs.
The ground is for illumination only
*Promosm* 😊
Thanks so much for this video. Very helpful! Appreciate you choosing Body-Solid!
I got my 8 switch installed and doesn’t light up . Do some not light up? Thanks
"Switch Only" panels do not appear to have LEDs
@@eastsidewrenching thank you
Regarding the status LEDs always being lit: you can control this using the "dimmer control wire" (see the instructions). I'd have to check my setup to confirm, but I think I disconnected the dimmer control wire from the bus bar and connected it to a panel switch output so that that switch now controls the status LEDs. In my case, that same panel switch also powers my cabin lights (which each have individual switches in their fixtures).
Good job on the install.
New to wiring. To confirm, the rest of the switches still operate without that ground because the accessories have their own independent ground?
Yes, the switches on the panel only break/complete the positive connection. The ground spade on the switch panel is just to allow those LED indicators to run
I share same concern about led on all the time.
Nice video that demonstrates the guts and the outside of the switches. As far as at the end of your video when you talk about a big bulky switch, most votes that are running multiple accessories such as pumps, vhf, radar, different lights, etc will already have two batteries on the boat with a battery switch. Blue seas makes an awesome add a battery system and before I leave my boat I turn the switch off which shuts off power completely to the entire boat so there's no worry of ever having any LEDs draining. Sorry for being kind of long-winded but the short answer would be if you have that many accessories on switches you should have a battery shut off switch already.
Why you change the fuse
In the event of a short circuit, those 22AWG bow light wires are really small for 15 amps. They could melt through the insulation before the fuse blows. I usually just use the smallest fuse that will support the component without nuisance tripping, or google "Blue Sea Systems Ampacity Chart" for bigger wires. Changing the fuse in this video was just to demonstrate that swapping in smaller ATC fuses is worth considering.
How often do fuses go in these? I'm having trouble with two of my switches
If the fuses are sized appropriately, not often at all. I haven't blown any yet and I am running way smaller fuses than 15A
Cool little video. Electrically incorrect tho. You have 2 fuses on one light. 😉
Thanks, good call. Without even considering if it was necessary I used the alligator clips with an inline 5A fuse just in case the +/- clips touched while they were right beside each other. In hindsight, yes the inline fuse was unnecessary, the 1A fuse would have blown. I hope it doesn't sound like I suggested soldering in an inline fuse after each switch
perfect
Thank you for posting this video. I want to use these panels in a portable solar powered battery bank. Every watt matters in this setup, so I don't want those LED drawing current at any time.
Just install a blue sea switch to power the panel.
