They have decided to use a specific feedstock, with its composition as follows: Lignin - 29% Cellulose - 35% Hemicellulose - 30% Critically evaluate this feedstock, while commenting on its composition, processing technology and its potential in the proposed biorefinery. Question 2 A biorefinery that is currently producing methane from anaerobic sludge, wishes to switch their output stream to biohydrogen. They want to do this with minimal cost, while employing all the resources they currently have. Discuss in detail how and why this can be accomplished? (10 marks) Questions 3 Fourth generation biofuels have recently struck immense interest. In addition to genetically modified feedstocks, genetically modified microorganisms are also gaining traction. Critically discuss the employment of genetically modified microorganisms in biorefineries. Furthermore, detail some of the advantages and disadvantages.
