Adding secondary callsign to QRZ
มุมมอง 9804 ปีที่แล้ว
If you use a suffix or prefix on your callsign you really should add a secondary callsign to QRZ. Some spotting software will do QRZ lookups on callsigns and if you don't have your special call entered it will come back as "failed" and may not get spotted. 73 de Mike W9MDB

    You need to edit the ntp.conf file in C:\Program Files (x86)\NTP\etc tp.conf and add your NTP server line as the server You probably have just one in there now server 0.pool.ntp.org iburst minpoll 6 maxpoll 7 You can add multiple ones and it will use what's available.

    Instead of using Flatten, you should go thru the calibration process so that you local noise is eliminated from the passband and use Ref Spec.

    Great video, thank you for the tips. Starting at 2:19 you say, "So we shrink this window down to get 3000 in there.". How did you do that? Is that just something you can do in the improved version?

    • @mdblack98
      @mdblack98 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's just a normal resize by hovering the mouse over the right edge so you see the dual-point arrow and click-and-drag the edge.

      @@mdblack98 That's what I thought initially but in the video it looks like the window doesn't resize but the numbers inside move to the right. Perhaps it was the presentation software you are using that keeps the image the same size on the screen even though you are resizing it. I have the "improved" version and like it. I installed it in a different folder than the WSJT-X but it must have found all of the settings because everything works. Even GridTracker works with it too. Thanks for the reply.

      @@RichardWright142 Yes -- an artifact of the recording software doing it's own automatic scaling since I was just capturing that one window.

    Good morning, how are you? The video is not at low resolution. You could place the scrpit for each command. Thanks.

    if this antenna was attached to the shoulder area of my load bearing equipment (radio in a chest or wait level pouch with jumper coax), would it remain bent into the vertical plane while I was in a prone position? I cannot tell how stiff the antenna is from the video. Thanks

    • @mdblack98
      @mdblack98 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not very stiff....you'll note in the video that when the radio is held horizontally the antenna starts to droop. I would imagine in a prone position as long as you were NOT crawling it would be OK....but any movement will cause it to gradually start drooping. I found it it pretty inadequate for hand held use due to movement causing it to fall over. I did find another antenna which is much better...can be folded very easily and has very good spring in it. It's now my go-to antenna for everything. The nitinol antennas are easily foldable in a small circle and basically cannot be permanently bent. So they work well under jacket or with a jumper coax would work very well in prone position if you duct taped it to a back pack for example. signalstuff.com/antennas/

      Michael Black thanks I am looking for a "bendy" antenna similar to the nite ize gear ties. in the army, the PRC 77 had a flexible gooseneck attachment for the short whip while in MANPADS mode. that's the effect I am looking for

    • @mdblack98
      @mdblack98 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I played a bit with this antenna...it is close to a gear tie...but its worst bending point is at the connector which you can see in the video when I hold it horizontally. With a bit of support at the connector should do what you want. I found if I hold it about 1 inch above the connector it does not droop nearly as much. You could probably use a pen body or such....glue it to the connector to give the bottom end of the antenna some support. You could probably zip tie some gear ties to it too and get some passive coupling but should still work.

      I put two layers of shrinking hose around the lower 1/3 of the antenna after reading y'alls comments here. Works like a charm. I just recommend to be very careful with the heating to shrink the hose. Wouldn't recommend a lighter

    Extremely handy antenna. Fold the antenna over and put it in your pocket. Unfold the antenna to transmit. Best of both worlds.
