Manufacturing control with AI by Fernando Guevara (#GSAS24)
Fernando Guevara. Applications Architect at Pepsico:
My career has given me a lot of great experiences and treats. Nowadays, I feel very confident about my technical skills and my performance inside small and big teams. In the last 5 years I have tried to gain as much experience at cloud stacks as I could and opened up my technology set with different front and back end technologies to add to my general design and development expertise. Thinking about the near future, I’m looking to further extend my experience in distributed systems using state of the art tech.

The primary advantageous aspect of AI has always been its ability to function autonomously, enabling the deployment of "smart" systems that are capable of independent action, without requiring constant human oversight to reach a specific target. Architectural patterns are needed for effective multi-agent setup coordination. About Pablo del Vecchio, Chief Architect at NTT DATA: Tech professional...

We make decisions all the time in software - our architectures are the sum of them; both conscious and unconscious. In this talk I’ll describe what architectural decisions are, and the different ways that we approach them (individually and collectively) making clear the pros and cons of each. I’ll then compare them all, concluding by describing the ideal characteristics of a decision-process fo...

Great talk Avraham!
Great talk! I'm totally onboard for consent-based decision making, because I think many of us have been subject to those absurd bureaucratic decisions that we can encounter in tech. Also from my experience, the 'fastness' of centralised control is hugely dependent on the quality of that controlling actor. They can be excellent but also can be a complete disaster, and a centralised decision making process leaves no room to adapt from that situation.
We are happy that you liked it!
People with too strong statements of future AI capabilities are just not worth listening to. Why? Because we just don't know. To claim architects won't be replaced is might very well just be a dream
AI in this talk was specifically referring to LLMs
@sandman89176 yes, and I was also including LLM which have shown new, unexpected and remarkable features as the models have grown. We have a hard time predicting what new model sizes will bring and thus how different jobs will e affected
@@dahla1973model sizes have the problem of data quality and it seems (can't recall the article, sorry) that biggest LLM companies already reached a sort of plateau. It'll be interesting to see how they adapt and I agree with you when you say that currently we have no means to predict precisely future evolutions
@@Khaervek yes, llms might have hit a plateu. However unclear at this point why and if it can be overcome. Might just be a temporary issue
@dahla1973 - my understanding of Avrahams "strong statements" were that he was not doubting future capabilities of AI - he was pointing out that Humans have a critical role in decision making - the keywords he used where morals, responsibility and accountability. AI can be used as an input to the analysis and decision making process to find issues and trade-offs and resolve them, it can be part of the feedback loop as we finalise what we want the system to do and how it should do it - but it should NEVER be the decision maker - humans are responsible to ensure the system is safe and useful for humans. I'm tempted to add that people who disagree with that are just not worth listening to - but that would be rude so I'll refrain from doing that ;-)
this is misconception that llm is thinkning. llm is talking using the sorted data and patterns created from human generated data. nothing llm can do at the moment is inovative. its next level search engine.
Very low quality talk. People like this should not be anywhere near SWE. What else could be expected from someone with pronouns 🤦🏻♂
Pronouns 🤦♂
If he needs to begin by explaining why software architecture is challenging, I can't listen to this.
But what if he's wearing big red shoes?
The 8 fallacies were super important in the 80s. But you really need to update them for a modern world with ubiquitous HTTP and so many overlays that the networks are essentially homogenous from a developer perspective. Also I kind of feel like I am getting sold books ...
MCP ❤❤❤
Great explaining about the "Architecural way of thinking" and looking with "an Architectural eye".
Thank you :)
interesting, Im looking for some use case similar but i want a bit more of flexibility, I was looking at azure automation since that allows for python execution so i can have jobs that not only run stored procs, but i like the scheduling capabilities of logic apps
While Currently I am still in the entry level, this talk was very beneficial to me. Thanks you Mark!
Thank you for watching the video and visiting our channel! We're glad you found the talk helpful-keep up the great work on your journey!

So refreshing to hear actual substantive content, not the usual hype speak / blather about “AI”.
Thank you for your comment! If you're interested in the topic, feel free to check out our channel, where we're uploading talks from this year's Global Software Architecture Summit. The topic for this year has been "A Summit on Software Architecture in the Age of AI". Hope you find some useful content as well. :)

How do we measure performance metrics like web vitals for each MFE loading on a page individually? Like I am thinking about using a tool like lighthouse-ci etc..
Hello. Although your question came in as a comment after the author had finished their session, we'll try to answer your question from Apiumhub: The main common steps for measuring performance metrics like Web Vitals for individual Micro Frontends using Lighthouse CI and the Web Vitals library are as follows: First, load the MFE in isolation to enable tracking of specific resources. Then, use Lighthouse CI to test each MFE separately with specific requirements and conditions. You can configure it to focus on the metrics that are most important to you. Now, integrate Lighthouse CI into your CI/CD pipeline to automate performance evaluation. For Web Vitals metrics, implement the Web Vitals library for each MFE and then tag them to identify the specific metrics. After that, you will be able to analyze all the metrics and identify some points for improvement. Hope it helps. :)
Very sad to say I missed the live stream by minutes, but thankfully I've caught up on the recording - which was excellent as expected. Rather than posing a question I'd just like to say thank you to Eion Woods (and of course Apiumhub)for this stream, for the Continuous Architecture in Practice book which is high up on my reading list for this year, and particularly for Software Systems Design which was my first Software Architecture book and remains the most important and influential book on my architecture shelf 7 years later as a practicing Software Architect.
Thank you! I’m glad you find the ideas useful.
Thanks to you. Hope you enjoyed the talk. :)

I'd love to get a copy of this deck!
