United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 ธ.ค. 2011
In the past 17 years my wife, Sherri and I have traveled extensively. We've visited over 90 countries on all seven continents. Our focus has been on rare and endangered animals. Along the way, we've also meet a lot of interesting people whose cultures could be considered rare and endangered. On this channel, you'll find travelogues of our many trips and travel tips based on our experiences on the road in exotic places.
Chapter 6-Amman, Jordan
We are at the end of our tour of Jordan. We only have one day to explore Amman but we make the best of it. We start at the Amman Citadel. The best is the Jordan Archeological Museum there. Then we climb to the top seats in the Roman theater for a great view. We discover a small museum of Popular Tradition. Then we are loose in the streets for some street photography.

Chapter 5- Jerash, Jordan
มุมมอง 2993 หลายเดือนก่อน
Jerash, the City of Columns, is one of the best preserved Greco-Roman cities outside of Italy. We walk down the Cardo Maximus imagining what this place was like when carts and chariots clattered down the street. In the Hippodrome we imagine chariot races and gladiator battles. In the Temple of Artemis we image the incense smoke wafting through the 40 foot columns. Credits "Thunderbird" Kevin Ma...

มุมมอง 2013 หลายเดือนก่อน

Then we hike up Wadi Mujib with its colorful rock formations. Next is Mount Nebo where Moses was allowed to see the Promised Land before he died. Mt. Nebo has the most magnificent Byzantine mosaics. In the Greek Orthodox Church in Madaba, w...
Chapter 3-Petra, Jordan
มุมมอง 3023 หลายเดือนก่อน
Our Jordanian adventures continue in the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom: the legendary city of Petra. The famous rock cut tombs and the rocks they were cut from are both amazing. From the Treasury ti the Monastery, we explore Petra from one end to the other.
Chapter 2-Wadi Rum, Jordan
มุมมอง 6223 หลายเดือนก่อน
Wadi Rum is an other-worldly landscape, which is why it has been used by movie producers as a set for "The Martian" and "Dune". In this adventure we are glamping at the Discovery Bedu Camp in the heart of Wadi Rum; enjoying Jordanian wine as we watch the spectacular sunset. We are exploring the red rock landscape, learning about the area's geology, discovering ancient petroglyphs and inscriptio...
An Abridged History of Jordan and our Jordanian adventures begin in Aqaba
มุมมอง 2313 หลายเดือนก่อน
Our guide, Jaber, gave us a history lesson at every stop on our way through Jordan. As we start to tell the story of that trip, I thought it was important to start with an abridged history of Jordan and the region. The Middle East is a complicated place today because of its complicated past.. Then we have a short stay in Aqaba to sample some of Jordan's natural wonders. Credits: "Crusade" Kevin...
Chapter 7- Aswan, Egypt
มุมมอง 774 หลายเดือนก่อน
Aswan is our last stop on our 2023 Egypt tour. We are staying at the Old Cataract Hotel which is an experience in itself. We tour one last temple-Philae and do some birding first in the protected area at the First Cataract and then in the reservoir behind the Aswan Low Dam.
Chapter 6- Temples of Abu Simbel
มุมมอง 3045 หลายเดือนก่อน
From Aswan, we are taking a day trip to Abu Simbel. Ramesses II built two amazing temples at Abu Simbel in the 13th Century BCE. What is even more amazing is that these temples were moved in the 1960's to escape the rising waters of Lake Nasser when the Aswan High Dam was completed. Now the temples look like they have always been there; not a seam to be found.
Chapter 5- Cruising the Nile on a Dahabiya
มุมมอง 2955 หลายเดือนก่อน
A Dahabiya is a barge like vessel with 2 lateen sails and carries about 12 passengers.. Up to the 1870's it was the way for tourists to travel up and down the Nile. Today it is an alternative to the luxury River Cruisers with 80 to 100 passengers. The Dahabiya can land any place along the river. So we got to see some places like Gebel el-Silsila, a sandstone quarry that are not possible for the...

Egypt has been an Islamic State since 641. There have been a lot of Caliphs and Sultans since then. We take a walk down Al-Mu'izz Street Street in Historic Cairo and step back in time. Historic Cairo was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979 citing the number and quality of the historic buildings in the old walled city of Cairo. Africa Then and Now
มุมมอง 1609 หลายเดือนก่อน
In 1988, we took our first trip to Africa, visiting Kenya and Tanzania. Since then we've been back eleven times visiting 23 countries. Scanning the slides from the 1988 trip brought back a lot of memories from that trip and subsequent trips. This video is an attempt to describe our first impressions of Africa in 1988 and to reflect on what has and hasn't changed in the past 35 years.
Chapter 5- Tunis, Tunisia
มุมมอง 80ปีที่แล้ว

On our brief stop we visit the ruins of Carthage and Dougga. Sample some great cuisine an...

Awesome
How do you get there? there are no direct flights
We flew from Johannesburg, South Africa to Antananarivo, Madagascar then used Malagasy Air to get around Madagascar
I was over there over 10 years ago and I took the pony and cart, but I wanted to take the pony that they hired out but they were all hired by the time I finished my Irish coffee and stew at Lord Brandon’s cottage. Do they still hire ponies to ride through the gap?
When we were there, our pony and cart ride had been reserved by our travel agent ahead of time as part of the tour. So our ride was waiting for us.
@@dandsclark Thanks for your quick answer, when I was there, I was only one person, and I was added to the to group of the boat and so when I arrived at the cottage after my meal which I paid for, I could choose whether I wanted a horse and cart, hiking or a saddle horse to hire and I wanted to ride, but they’re all taken by the time I finished my second Irish coffee. :) It had been a very rainy cold day, but then it was sunny after I finished my Irish stew

Why the wolf keepers let aslo tourists in to the wolves and even the wolves seem like they already trust and are friendly to other people who are strangers for the wolves?
The wolves are habituated to humans but there are a lot of rules because they are still wild animals. Only one small group gets to visit each day. The visit is timed so that it is not around their feeding time. Everyone has to wear the same black snow suit and no hats are allowed. There are specific places that you can touch the wolves. When the wolves approach, you have to be on your knees. You can't hold your hand above their heads.
Sorry to tell you but your pronunciations are totally off. You need to get those right if you intend doing tour reviews on Ireland. I do know what I am talking about. I am Irish..live here from day I was born and adore my country.
I adore your country too. I hope to spend some more time there so I can get my tongue around the place names better. Thanks for the comment.
10:57 The were not ‘fixated on death’. They loved life so much that they wanted to make sure they could access the after-death- life by means of proper burial.
Thanks for your comment. I agree that the ancient Egyptians wanted to prolong their life experience by extending it into an afterlife. We owe much of our understanding of life in ancient Egypt to the burial industry that left tombs and pyramids with beautiful paintings and carvings.
If you narrate the script yourself by appearing yourself in the video & use some more footage then your content will be more attractive. Thank you.
The place i call home for last 18 years. ❤❤❤
A beautiful place to live. I hope I captured a small part of its beauty in my brief video.
Great pics and narration!
Dave, another great travelogue. I have always loved the pictures that you and Sherri take, I especially enjoy your history lessons. You put a lot of thought and research into your projects. Keep them coming, Bob
Beautiful photos!
Good history lesson. Loved your bird and reef photos! Thanks for sharing 😊
Excellent thank you.
Glad you liked the video. It was a great trip. I'd recommend it .
🎉
What a great way to travel.
ELES DEIXARÃO UMA HISTÓRIA EXTRAORDINÁRIA ........
What is really amazing is that although only a small fraction of the wonders of ancient Egypt have survived and yet we are in awe of the of the magnitude and magnificence of their civilization. And we still don't know what technologies they used to build these monuments and artifacts.
Thanks for the very well made and informative series on ancient Egypt. A very nice reminder of my visit to the same sites several years ago. I look forward to viewing your various other series as well. Your efforts are much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed it! There are 17 years of adventures documented on the channel. Let me know what you think of the others.
Dave, what beautiful architecture and amazing color. You should have taught history. We always love watching your work. Bob
If you're going to teach something, know what you're talking about. Kemet is ancient, not Egypt
More Egyptian history - such awesome photography - the colors are so vivid - sorry about the graffiti - I suppose all generations want to leave their mark 😢
Great tour! Thanks for sharing!
Nice job on these! I knew almost nothing of this era in Egypt.
That was cool! Lets see the next chapter, Dave!
Chapter 2 is about Islamic Egypt from 641 thru the Ottoman era. I'm working on 3 now. It's about the temples and tomes of Luxor.
Nice
Thanks for the "Readers Digest" version of Egyptology - a great refresher course!
I had the pleasure of visiting a lot of these places in 2014. There's a lot to see in that country if you are into antiquities and there is still a lot of archeological digs going on there. I hope to make it back to that part of the world in the next couple of years.
美しい日本を紹介していただき、ありがとうございます。チャンネル登録しました。
Japan is indeed a beautiful country. We have been there many times but our most memorabe trip was to Hokkaido in winter.
Dave, Nancy and I just finished watching your great video. You look good on the big screen. Yes, Africa has changed. We first went to Kenya in 1995. We used to laugh about the number of flat tires we had on a daily basis. Anyway, you and Sherri did a great job showing Africa then and now. And your right, Lewa Downs was a magical place, we both think it was the best preserve we have visited in all of Kenya, what a difference from the regular parks. Keep the videos coming. Safe travels, Bob & Nancy
Das ist ein wunderschönes Video ,ich war das letzte mal vor einem Jahr in Killarney Nationalpark . Habe jetzt so viel Sehnsucht nach diesem wunderschönen Ort . 💚☘
Vielen Dank

What a wonderful culture
As always, your narratives and photos are top notch. Hope to travel with you both again in the future. Please say "hi" to Sherri.
It’s a shame they are hiding more land from us
Very interesting to watch. I recently moved to Salisbury so I was great to learn some more history about the place. Thanks for sharing.
This is better than watching "The Learning Channel". Keep them coming! Bob
Great video. I hope the local people can keep poachers out.
Another great video, hope you enjoyed your time here.
Yes, We did enjoy England. Thanks
So where is your next trip?
Hey guys, what a beautiful country. I enjoyed your use of B&W shots. Great job. Looking forward to watching more of your travels. Bob
