Cyclops Family Update
The Cyclops family grows, So here is the slow progress on all three. The sculpting of the Mama has taken up time as well as other things I have to get done. However I should get the painting restarted on them & Big Mama mounted soon.

That is cool making your own sculpts
Thanks, it’s been fun and challenging. I’m learning a lot.
Oh yeah!!! Now we are talkin. She is coming along quite well. Imagine that... making a full cyclops 'mama.' Well done on all three so far, Grandma. Keep it up. ~Fritz
@@Forge_n_Brush Thank you
Nice!!
@@johnalanwalker Thank you
Give her some free plastic surgery! 😂
@@calvanoni5443 🤣
Ahhh... we got a whole family going on. Coming along, Grandma. Painting will be fun... lots of texture to pick up the paint. Looking forward to more - including the new sculpt. ~Fritz
I filled in some of the holes on the new sculpt… so will be starting him soon
Great models :) 😊

I like it!! 👍👍👍👍👍

That turned out really well. I was tempted to make looking good or eye for detail puns, but I didn't want my comment myth interpreted.
@@mykediemart Oh you can joke with me, I do all this stuff for fun. He is shaping up nicely. I do think adding to his ankles and hooves made for a better look. I thought about bulking his leg muscles up but I think the thinner legs help his Lurch creepy look. If I ever find a second one maybe I will Hercules that one up. Besides I can make leg day jokes with papa Ugly.
nice! looks like something I did in college.
😜 Absolutely I was cooking early adulthood style today.
@@lauramumma2360 yeah, my college friends when I invited them to come eat. Did stir fry for lunch during finals.
Nice. I make mine a lil different. I cook the noodles drain them, heat the pan with oil and toss them in with egg or veggie left overs. So maybe a kind of stirfry?
Yes that is another way of doing it.
Yum!!! I am gonna try that out. I never actually fried the ramen. Thanks, Grandma. ~Fritz
It came out pretty good, even the anti Eggplant guy was this is good
Love the Arduin books in the intro!! Keep on rocking rpg gma🤘❤
Thank you 😀
I'll never understand why WotC made going up levels super easy, and why D&D players didn't complain about it. I don't want to play a game that's easy. I want to play a game that's challenging, that's hard. I don't get it.
I prefer challenges myself. It makes the improvements to the character more meaningful.
@@lauramumma2360 yes it does
Award the Xp you want to see in the game world
Correct ❤
Interesting observation, and it raidses a question: What makes players change editions? I mean, I know why companies make new editions, to sell them, to make money, but what makes players say, "Yep, the fifth edition of my favorite game was good, and really well-supported with source books, adventures, and supplemental rules, but the sixth edition is out now. so I am going to bin all of these books and spend hundreds of dollars on this new edition!" I mean, that's what folks do, I guess. The only time I did that was when 2E AD&D came out, because I was twelve and not very bright.
I stopped buying "new editions" after 2nd. I've never bought a WotC DnD book, and I never will. TSR D&D is much preferred.
What it is happening, people play what is available to them, so when folks make new friends and if their friends are playing X edition then they tend to change over to X. Or you find situations where the group has several DMs taking turns with different editions/games… but this seems super rare. I am blessed as my friends do not care about “editions” and are flexible, so we have freedom to game a huge range of editions, games and styles.
I despised him when we first butted heads on Reddit, but I was also 22 or 23 years old at the time. He told me not to bother with Traveller because I'd never be able to roleplay since I had started with D&D 4e. He also gave me good advice, which caused me to respect him. Years later, I found him on TH-cam by pure chance and subscribed.
@@DaveTheGM yep that sounds like Shonner. I don’t know why he was so abrasive towards D&D folks but he was, and yet he could also be way different if you talked about other stuff. He really liked sci-fi.
@lauramumma2360 I had actually just given up on trying to roleplay in D&D and started looking into the systems he suggested right before he passed. I still love D&D, but the style of game I've always dreamed of was like what he described. Maybe I'll finally get my Traveller game off the ground and try to introduce my group to the different way of playing. It'll be a fun experiment. However, if I wind up playing D&D in the "2d" way forever, it won't make me too sad.
@@DaveTheGM well I think it is mostly getting folks used to being descriptive more and using less and less mechanics lingo. Even in the more mechanical way DMs don’t like playing 20 questions, so it’s about limiting that sort of thing. And emphasizing describe to me like I describe to you mentality that has to be cultivated. Combat is one area most TTRPGs get mechanical linguistically. Any game can go either way really. Anyway yes go forth to the stars and have fun. 🤩
My condolences. Hey, I made a short to give a little cheer. Smurf gummy candies
Thanks
Condolensces on your loss.
He popped up in the audience on streams from time to time. I hadn't seen/interacted with him in a long time, so I can't say that I know or knew him. I hope he rests peacefully now.
@@thedungeondelver I chatted with him a few times and so I knew him but not well. He just usually put out lots of videos so when I stopped seeing his livestream ones like others I wondered what was up.
He was less than not my cup of tea. I hope he is in a better place, and free of the spiritual and mental pain that colored his interactions with others.
Cool work! Love Mr. Ugly. ❤
Thanks
Always smart to stop and prime. It'll show missed mold lines, gaps, and weird textures. I love those old hand-sculpted models. What they lack in detail they more than make up with character and flavor.
Yes he has character I love the old hand sculpted ones, and this one was definitely hand sculpted and inspired by the movies.
Awesome 👍
Good stuff, good stuff. Love the unibrow idea. I can't wait to see him all painted up. That's gonna be so kool. Good progress. ~Fritz
I hope it looks cool once I start painting him.
Are you going to paint him like Ray Haurihausen's one?

Coming along. I need to use green stuff more often. I can see so many uses for it. Well done and informative, Grandma. Can't wait to see it all painted up. ~Fritz
Thank you, I am enjoying this build and I will also be doing the modern cyclops from the same company so folks can see them together.
Wow!!! He is a big boy. Good start. ~Fritz
Yes he is a giant cyclops so a real fun build
That's great. No better way to do terrain... make it yourself. I really like these... and the minis as well. Well done. ~Fritz
Thank you, I need to get caught up as I have human kinights and a Minotaur horde to build as well
Ha!!! Brillers. That was interesting. I am putting in a wood/coal burner in my house. Good to know. Oh, and I also do a lot of cooking outdoors. Would love to see some outdoor cooking vids. Anyway, take care Grandma. Good stuff as always. ~Fritz
Yeah the cooking ones are far and few between because they are a bit time consuming but I should do more
Great work on hiding those joints! Really cool model too. Can't wait to see how it goes with painting it. Keep it up Gma!
Thanks, I am going to have to do a little more sculpting work on him, so the ribs and muscles look better on his sides.
A tiny bit of vasoline on your fingers and sculpting tools keeps the green stuff from sticking. Awesome work.
Thanks for the tips, I will add vasoline to my travel kit. I need to locate our clay sculpting tools but improvisation is good too for folks feeling intimidated about trying this.
Wow Grandma that is really impressive and I gotta admit that is a heck of a find . Nice work!
Thank you Shadow. I know I got super lucky finding him on eBay.
I had some old books I bought on ebay that smelled very strong from cigarette smoke. I put them in a bag with crumbled newspapers for a few days. When I opened the bag the newspaper absorbed the smell and I was able to keep the books.
Excellent tip, I never heard of using newspaper
