    Could you give some advice to a brother from across the pond? Doing our oak floors on Monday for a medium sized room. It’s an old house and the floors are slightly uneven here and there. 1) what size floor sander should i use and what grit? 2) how do you go about the old and slightly uneven oak floors?

      @@justinkershaw2220 you want a belt sander mine is a 8 inch belt sander, then start with a 40grit going diagonally to get the boards flatter easier. Then 40 grit again with the boards. Edges start on a 40grit too. Then Back to belt sander 60 grit with the boards. Back to the edger 60grit or 80grit if it get out the sanding marks from the 40grit Then back to the belt sander again with 120grit Nail down any boards that are loose, with lost head nails before sanding starts. @@delwynmccarroll7982 hello👋🏼 so in your case I would fill the gaps with wood dust and a resin filler. However you will need to mask along your gaps as the filler will ruin you nice floor, or if your going to sand the floor, sand the floor then apply the same filler wait a few hours, sand it all off and flat again, this may need to be done twice as the filler can slump a little. I hope this helps you, on some of my other videos you can see the filler I use.👍🏼😊 but on different floors.

    Sanding complete, really pleased with the results, it was very hard work and the hire kit clearly doesn’t have the dust extraction that your kit has! I’ve bit the bullet and ordered the Easy Prime & Supra At….hoping that I’ll get more years of use out of it before it needs doing again! The Supra is a 2 coat system….would there be any benefit to putting a 3rd coat on….so primer, 1st coat Supra, light sand then a further 2 coats Supra? Or would that be overkill and affect the finished look? Also can you do maintenance coats further down the line? Thanks again for all your advice on this, it’s made a tuff job a little bit easier 😊

    Hi, just after some further advice if possible? After watching all your videos many times over! and researching products I’ve decided I’d prefer a satin finish to the floor. Sanding day will be this week so I need to settle on a product. I can see in your videos you have used Loba easy finish & Loba 2k Supra At Can you offer some advice on these products? @timbersflooringserviceswar4989 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@darky1972 hi fella. So supra and easy finish with give you the same look on your floor and you put them both on the exact same way, (I use a paint pad and short pile microfibre roller.) The supra is around £150 for 1 5L tub but is the very best on the market for durability and tuff-ness. It’s also a 2 part lacquer where you add the hardener to it. However most domestic houses really do not need this type of lacquer. Easyfinish is one of the tuffest single part lacquers, (no hardener is needed.) For a domestic house this is a very good finish to have and you won’t have to worry about mixing up the correct amount of hardener. It is also £80 ish a 5L tub so much more affordable. I love them both but I use Easyfinish on much/many more jobs. Drying times 1st coat 30mins ish 2nd coat 1 hour ish Light sand when really dry possibly the next day. 3rd coat 2 to 4 hours is The 3rd coat is the most important. You can add a forth coat without sanding again if you wish to. Hope this is helpful for you and good luck 😊👍🏼

Now ive discovered its solid 15mm oak boards. The finish on it is incrediblly good as hardly any wear BUT i want a change in colour. Decided keeping it in very small hall. Want a very very light mat or satin finish. What process would u recommend to remove current finish ( i think its a dark coloured lacquer) ? Surprised you used a perpendicular sanding pattern on parquet. That means half the fingers get the ideal 0 degree sand and the others get the worst case 90 degree. Wouldn't a 45 degree sand give all the fingers the same 45 degree sand? Also no orbital sanding pass to blend the drum and edger patterns out?

    • @timbersflooringserviceswar4989
      @timbersflooringserviceswar4989 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Yes you are correct about the 0 & 90 degree of sand however. With this style flooring it’s really not a issue unless your staining the floor, and the sanding marks sand out very easily with this species of wood, so blending is easy and orbital is not necessarily needed, although if you have one I would advise using it.👍🏼

    It’s a broom 🧹 handle, you can by from any diy stores, or you can use large dowels but that’s more expensive, I just cut off 10cm of my broom use a knife to shape it or a sander if you have one. 👌🏼👍🏼
