This is the hills to the East of Manchester (Pennines) about 300m above sea level. Today FM and RTE come in strong.

Extremely faintly on the best of days, Pennines in the way (106.2 would be hampered by XS Manc on 106.1)

It wasn't no. Normal conditions for that location (though the two stations from Ireland, specifically 89.60, often come and go but most of the time are perfectly listenable)

It is indeed .. close to 100 miles from this location.

Hey - Ratcliffe Towers for Imagine and Pure FM is indeed on a roof of a building in Stockport. There are hundreds of places online which list the frequencies of the BBC Nationals - downloads.bbc.co.uk/reception/pdfs/FMradiotrans.pdf This website below is a fantastic frequency finer for FM stations and MW stations in the UK - the pdf is very informative www.frequencyfinder.org.uk www.frequencyfinder.org.uk/FM_Stations.pdf I'm just very experienced in RF so know the BBC FM transmitters like the ones you mentioned off the top of my head - literally! further - this site has images of virtually every single 2,000+ radio and TV tranmitter in the UK and I have contributed to a lot of the transmitters in our area tx.mb21.co.uk/gallery/ Hope these point you in the right direction. Being in Saddleworth, scanning the FM band is a fun thing to do as because we're so high up you can pick up loads of stations. Pontop Pike is the main TV and BBC FM transmitter for Tyne-Tees fyi. Llangollen in North Wales is sometimes the tranmistter of choice for many radios in the Oldham area even though it's so far away. Llangollen coverage is usually fantastic in the Oldham/Manchester areas. Sutton Coldfield is much more patchy but still some strong signals. The Wrekin in the Oldham area on TV is usually very strong too - most likely as it's flat terrain from Oldham down to Shropshire

Yes it is - not used for radio - only used for TV to a very very small area around the town centre which is slightly shadowed from Winter Hill though most high gain aerials on Winter Hill would be fine

103.9, winter hill depends on weather also, i can get spin 103.8. which interfears with it at times plus bbc 4 on 104fm .

ive also picked up key103 many a times here in belfast, bbc cumbria,bbc merseyside , even picked up a few pirates yearsa go am sure you no the superstation 97.7 think it was in oldham, got it here straight line of view to nw england wer i am ;)

Really good information John .. As I say, this is down in the valley .. 0.5 miles up the road I can receive RTE in a full crisp RDS Stereo signal (89.6 from Mount Leinster). Miles and miles and miles and miles away from my location which is historically the West Riding of Yorkshire! As for Key 103, it's an odd one because the aerials on the top of the Saddleworth transmitter for Key 103 are seriously probably one of the most highly directional aerial system in the country .. that narrow beam of 4KW towards Manchester (and thereafter Cheshire/Mersey/North Wales etc. etc. sends signals so far West than it's official target area of Manchester.

its same for myself , when i drive up the road i can get heart north wales, capital glasgow, smooth glasgow, all pretty clear even better during a tropo, , but from house cant recieve these, theres a few pirates coming outta dublin now you shd try get them high power, 92fm soulcity 107.1 90s fm there both 10kw roughly , also if your elevated and theres a good tropo even better am around 200m up which does help the fm dx , good luck my friend
