Doubles Tennis Players - DON'T let the lob bounce!
มุมมอง 1.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Doubles tennis players, Don’t let the lobs bounce! As a coach for hundreds of reactional women’s doubles players, the number 1 misunderstood tactic is staying back on the baseline when your opponent lobs. No matter how many clinics or lessons on this very tactic, players still want to retreat or stay back when their opponent lobs. This becomes problematic. Players lose sight of their strategy a...

How to Avoid Missing Easy Volleys In Tennis
มุมมอง 1.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Coaches and Tennis Enthusiasts, How often do you miss the easiest of shots at net? The balls that look like big fat mangos, that hang in the air forever. Impossible to miss! Right? Not really, I see it all the time. My students get extremely frustrated when they dump those easy balls into the bottom of the net. Here's the fix: 1) If you would simply keep your feet in motion, weight on the balls...

    You didn't mention the one exception that you can reach over the net to hit a ball, it's when the spin takes the ball back over the net, then you can reach over.

    Thanks. I'm just starting to get into sun protection after years of getting bashed by the UVs. Too bad there aren't more videos about this topic here on the Tube. I tried playing with a floppy hat this morning and glasses kept getting fogged up. I'm afraid with a mask it might get worse. Any good solutions to prevent foggy glasses?

    Watch the first point in the video. The point was won by the player who just ventured into "No Man's Land" to hit her first volley. It was not lost by the player being yelled at by the commentator.

  • @shipinspection
    @shipinspection 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The biggest myth in tennis instructions is "DO NOT BE IN NO MAN'S LAND". I think it is the best place to be, especially in doubles. Players from beginner level 3.0 up to 5.0 are strongest when they start from no man's land. From there, they can then move up, back, left or right with minimal steps to either attack or defend the oncoming ball. For shorter, older or less mobile players, no man's land is an even much better place to be. Of course at the professional level, "No Man's Land" is generally not a good place to be. I surmise that over 95% of people who are reading tennis instruction videos on you tube are not professional players wanting instructions. I've seen club level woman's doubles strategies taught to players aspiring to become better players. The thing they are always taught is to avoid no man's land. The almost guarantees that they will be weaker players than the ones who essentially camp out at no man's land. Imagine a shorter, slower, heavier senior player (in a game of doubles), who goes right past no man's land closer to the net. The next shot will be a lob over their head which their partner must cover and run down. Also if the same player stays far back from "no man's land", they will get lots of drop shots which they have no chance of returning. If they instead play from "no man's land", all these shots are basically covered. Watch doubles players at all levels up to 5.0 & see where the top teams go to on almost every point. "No Man's Land".

    i mean you it right. But I play Doubles in high school and I play doubles on varsity and most of the time the players hit far cross-court no necessarily down the line and if they hit down the line they don't do it first. they would probe their opponents to see their weakness and then hit where they don't expect. For me I'm 6'1 so I usually just strafe back and forth messing with my opponent's head whether I will or will not poach. but always be aggressive
