I assume instruments tuned to C, but it's a very weird term to use, and the piece is written in G not C, close enough though. Also I don't believe the song is in the public domain 😊

Some C insfruments are Flutes, Oboes, Bassoons, Trombones, Baritones (euphonium), Tuba, Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass and any Mallet percussion. (Hope this helps somewhat)

It’s a musical thing called transposition Basically, on an instrument like a piano or a guitar, you can play any note you want - the piano has keys for each note, the guitar has frets. However on some instruments (mainly wind instruments) it’s really hard (or maybe even impossible) to play certain notes. So many hundreds of years ago we came up with a solution: to have the instruments play a certain amount higher / lower in pitch so that we can reach those difficult-to-play notes. When an instrument is “in C”, it means that any note it plays comes out sounding like that note, however when an instrument is said to be in a key other than C, it means that when you play a note, the note that comes out sounds a certain amount higher / lower (depending on the instrument) than the note that was played. Idk if that was a good explanation but hopefully gives you an idea :)

Do you have any suggestions on a better term. More accurate phrases like "for non-transposing instruments", or "tuned to C in concert pitch of A4 = 440Hz" seem to cause far more confusion. Not saying anything gets me comments from non C instruments (usually saxes, trumpets, and clarinets) complaining it sounds horrible when they play along, and trying to list all the C instruments gets silly (and I still get comments from the instruments I forget like recorders and accordions).
