I struggled to call my dad, dad for the first time as an adult. I grew up not knowing him and it felt hard to forgive him. I learnt to know him only as an adult for a very short while. The very sad part I struggle to come to terms with is that moments before his sudden strange death I felt the need to call him dad. I could not get hold of him while calling him a few times. I sent him a WhatsApp voice note saying I love you dad. It was the first time I said dad to him. He passed away very soon after I sent the message. The message was recieved but never read by him. It showed 2 ticks that were white and not blue. I never feel if I can close that chapter. I really struggle not knowing what really happened. I know now that he was hurting badly too.
