Resident Evil 2 takes place in the infamous Raccoon City, a city plagued by a zombie virus. At the center of the story are the fates of two main characters: newly minted police officer Leon Kennedy and student Claire Redfield, who came to the city in search of her brother Chris. By chance, they find themselves in the very epicenter of terrible events and are forced to join forces to get out of the trap alive.
The plot is told from the perspective of both protagonists, each of whom goes their own way and reveals different facets of the story. At the same time, the narrative is not divided into scenarios A and B, but represents two interconnected but self-sufficient campaigns.
In terms of gameplay, Resident Evil 2 is an exemplary third-person survival horror game. The focus here is on exploring locations, managing limited resources and intense encounters with enemies. Moving through the labyrinths of Raccoon City, the player must carefully study the environment, pick up keys and useful items, solve puzzles, and at the same time constantly monitor the level of ammunition and healing agents.
The variety of weapons is impressive - there are classic pistols with shotguns, and exotic examples like a stun gun or a flamethrower. Each barrel has its own characteristics and scope of application.
The opponents in the game are smarter and more aggressive than before. Zombies are able to quickly close the distance, grab onto the hero and even crawl after him, having lost the lower part of their body. The Tyrant deserves special mention - an invulnerable monster that tirelessly pursues the main characters throughout the game. Facing it is always a tense and exhausting test, requiring maximum concentration and creativity.
