The guy was singing about wanting to drink water but instead ask for a whiskey n even after he killed all the people in that bar he didn't even drink the whiskey n just walk away😂
love the song, and this version. all things cowboy, makes me sad that the Roy Rogers museum was shut down at least a few years back i believe. there was another great cowboy performer
@@deanhoward4128 yeah not a chance he was a good singer but by the time he had wrote and sang it his voice just wasn't what it used to be so Marty Robbins is still the best singer of this song
@@vincentgingerich you are entitled to your opinion! Marty Robbins was a great singer & talented musician,as well as a good stock car racer; I appreciate Marty's version of the song,as well as the Riders in the Sky and the current members of the Son's of the Pioneers with Dusty Rogers, who's father Roy Rogers was also a founding member of the Son's of the Pioneers along with Bob Nolan& Tim Spencer. In my opinion the best singer of the song today is Roy Rogers Jr. A.K.A. DUSTY ROGERS,and although Dusty is retiring from the group,he sounded great when I saw him in person @ a concert last November in my home town of Artesia N.M.
@@vincentgingerich thanks! No offense taken or given! I have listened to Marty Robbins all of my life & he was one of the greatest musicians of all time! Nothing against Marty ! I do know that he would visit from time to time with Bob Nolan and they were great friends, unfortunately Bob was getting older & was retired back then; It is unfortunate for a lot of the younger generations that don't know & have never heard of Marty Robbins ( his actual name was Martin Robinson) or Bob Nolan & other great Western singers like Ken Curtis & Gene Autry & Leonard Slye!
Knew I recognized Marty Robbins when I read the lyrics in the thumbnail! You guys should look up the trail songs of Marty Robins; the harmonies are amazing
Bob Nolan of the Son's of the Pioneers wrote Cool Water; Marty Robbins went to Bob's house & got permission to record all the songs Bob wrote! In later tears They became great friends!
This is a Marty Robbins song, seriously
His looking water but keep singing to make his throat dry...

He's an okay singer but no one will ever sing it like Marty
