Gatekeeper Video
Just a short clip from tire testing with the Element Gatekeeper. We will get some more details up here soon in our larger video collection. In this short clip, we wanted to highlight the nasty rock on this limestone formation. An overview of this crawling area will be added to the website soon.

Axial SCX-6 Honcho
มุมมอง 683 หลายเดือนก่อน
Here is another clip from our time on Leclerc Formation, testing out the BFG KM3's. In this video you can hear the KM3's tearing at the rough limestone rock while hauling the SCX-6 up the line. Also present is the whine from the Castle Mamba X ESC and 3 Brothers 860 BlackJ outrunner motor.

Another short video out on the trail with our Axial SCX6 testing the OEM BFG KM3's. We have been pleased with their performance, especially on this highly-abrasive limestone formation.
Axial SCX-6 Honco with KM3's
มุมมอง 1583 หลายเดือนก่อน
We were out on the trail today, testing the Axial OEM BFG KM'3 tires from the SCX-6 Jeep. These are a harder rubber compound that other tires, but their toughness makes them perfect for this highly-abrasive section of limestone on the trail. Under the hood is the 3Brothers RC 860kv BlackJacket motor and Monster Mamba X ESC. Usually we edit out the sound, but on this video the it's not terribly ...

We have been back out on the trail with our SCX-6 testing the factory Axial BFG tires. This is all part of a moderate reworking of electronics in our SCX-6 which should improve trail performance. In this video we have the 3Brothers outrunner installed with a Castle Monster Mamba X ESC, running on 6s. Yes, it's sorta noisy, so we edited out the sound. What we do like with this new layout is the ...

Here is another short clip of our SCX-6 Honcho running the JConcepts 2.9" Landmines with dual-stage foams. It's one of our favorite crawling tires on the rugged sandstone terrain, providing all kinds of traction for this small hill climb. Antero 1/10 Portal Rock Crawler at Badrock Ridge

Out and about at Bardock Ridge, knocking off another nasty section of trail. Things get a little dicey in the middle, but with this in-house custom carbon chassis, Kyle's math and engineering mojo has our anti-squat and CG dialed in. The result is a highly predictable and competent portal-axle crawler with a chassis mounted servo. It's neat with the math works out. Also gotta love these JConcep...
SCX-6 Honcho Back Out on the Trail

Spent the weekend cruising around Badrock Ridge with the SCX-6, enjoying the warm weather and overcast skies. The Hyrax tires are nearing the end of their tread life, so we are most likely going to swap them out in a month or so, but rest assured that we will get our money's worth from these tires. Will post higher quality videos next week.

Pro-Line Racing 2.9" Hyrax Tire

Here is another short clip from our upcoming review on the Pro-Line Racing 2.9" Hyrax tire. We worked out a few lines up this weathered block of sandstone, and while we slipped a bit in a few of the spots, the SCX-6 Honcho handled the climb quite well. The weight distribution, suspension settings, and link positioning keep the truck stable and predictable on this terrain. The only real tricky s...

We have been quite pleased with our new Vanquish Products VRD Carbon Kit, and it's performance on the trail has been excellent. We decided to brave the rain today and film a tricky spot out on the trail. Wet sandstone is notoriously difficult to crawl, but we were able to reach the top after a few attempts with the VRD. Pro-Line Racing 2.9" Hyrax
มุมมอง 1056 หลายเดือนก่อน
Here is another short clip from our testing sessions with the Pro-Line Racing 2.9" Hyrax. This was a steep ramp headed into one of the longer trails in our crawling area. The sandstone offers plenty of traction for these tires, but the trade-off is shorter tread life. Personally, I'd rather replace tires than have substandard performance, and these Hyrax deliver solid performance.

      Upper middle of the pack. We are working on a ranking system to answer just that, and I think it will help compare and contrast all the different tires we've tested to date. I like the Tusks a lot for our terrain, and of course the Ruptures are pretty much a comp tire.

    What are your thoughts on this tire compared to the stock ones?

    • @MojaveValleyRCA
      @MojaveValleyRCA ปีที่แล้ว

      Far superior in handling, especially on tighter tracks. Factory dBoots have a taller side lug, and this results in traction roll at speed. The Landmines have shorter lugs and a more curved crown, allowing for a faster corner with less traction roll. I'm able to run faster laps around the track.

    • @Youworstnightmare77
      @Youworstnightmare77 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MojaveValleyRCA the rc method tires are much better .All trucks with height and stock tires. they tend to flip. when you do a turn at high speed. there is nothing special about jconcepts rims. i want to see a video of these tires and running the mojave fast and do a close lap without braking at all and see if you have better stability without flipping on these tires.🤷🏻

    • @MojaveValleyRCA
      @MojaveValleyRCA ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Youworstnightmare77 Greetings, we will get some video up later this summer. Other projects underway at the moment. That said, the Methods are by far the easiest tire to drive, but also the slowest on lap times. Most likely there is a significant difference in our truck setups. I have no issues with traction rolling with the JC's on short grass or dirt. What the Methods offer in drivability ( meaning forgiving for poor lines or excessive speed in corners ) they give up in acceleration and braking traction. JC tires are modeled after racing tires, such as you would find on a 1/8 buggy or SCT. Methods are basher tires, modeled after that kind of driving ( all surfaces, crazy speed, ect ). If I want to go fast and carve around the track, Methods are my last choice. If I want to bash and get wild wherever, Methods are my first choice.

    • @MojaveValleyRCA
      @MojaveValleyRCA ปีที่แล้ว

      Greetings, glad you like the color but it was all a lucky mistake. From the inside I sprayed bulldog adhesive, then Spaz pearl blue, then backed it with standard spray primer. The primer crazed a bit and left tiny cracks. I then backed it with flat olive green to fill the cracks in and it came out pretty decent. I guess the Krylon primer was not compatible with the Spaz paint.! That said, pearl blue backed with the correct grey should do the trick.
