the way i did my sponge filter, the airstone is connected through the top connector piece, instead of the bottom like you had. my sponge filter kinda sounds like a soda can fizz, but i was trying to get it to be line yours. could that be because of how i put mine in, or could it be the airstone i used? i like the smaller bubbles you got, but mine are too tiny and it sounds like constant fizzing lol

You missed a few stores like Hong Kong tropical fish, Carson tropical fish, reef tropical fish, exotic fish and coral, reef factory us and happy fish pets and ck fish world which is larger than thong and they have wonderful planetarium in display. Hopefully you can check them out when you’re back in town. Fin shop do ship their fish as well. One that you didn’t make it to close down its door just this past Friday. It was call P.P tropical fish, they had two location and so this decide to close this one down. Their other one is called Tiki tropical fish which is a bit farther and is in bellflower area. Each fish store has their own specialty that they sell due to what people buy in their area. Like fin-shop they specialize in koi betas, discus, guppies and angel fish as you saw. Thong is specialized many types of fish but they are the only shop local to find a decent variety of plants and salt water fish. 405 tropical fish has a decent variety and if your these during shipments then your lucky. They are the lowest price I see when it comes to most fish. The other shops are just carry generic fish you well see at a typical petsmart or pet I we have local here. Maybe your are might be called different The reason you don’t see exotic fish is because of the crazy regulations we have here. Sometimes you’ll find some but that rare to come by. I like what you’re doing, maybe just explain more of the fish you’re showing and give the fish just a bit more screen time. Keep up your work!

Angel plus has been in business forever, probably one of the best breeders in the country. My friend many yrs ago use to breed angels he bought from them and kept my store in them for yrs. I've told myself that one yr when I'm up there that I will stop by and check out his operation.

As a breeder in South Africa without access to these amazing wild strains it really upsets me that such rare fish are being treated so badly.

You should check out the fish swap in davenport iowa (on the border of Iowa/Illinois) a ton of people go to it and you always find some really cool stuff.

beginner question here. what's the difference between "red devil angel" and a Koi angel fish? they seem to be so similar.. specially adults. ive seen "red devil" not so red that it looks like "koi" and ive seen "Koi" thats very red that it looks like red devil

I still use tetra but in truth years ago they made a flake food called tetra ruby. Best color food enhancer on the market. I'd also feed it to my marine fish. I had a marine tank with large plastic plants that reached the surface. I noticed a pair of very plain peppermint shrimp start climbing the plants and they would turn upside down and grab the tetra ruby off the surface. In a month or two those shrimp were as bright a red as a red fire shrimp. Never saw a plain shrimp take on so much color. I have to say my african cichlids never looked more colorful either. Today's tetra flakes don't produce that much color. Living along the upper texas coast mosquitoes were a great resource. I'd set a bucket of out tank water and dead leaves out in the shade. A time or two a week I could take a brine shrimp net out there and scoop up a net full of live mosquito wigglers and toss them in my fish tanks. Man the fight was on as to how many each fish could catch. I raised a school of neons from less than half an inch to jumbo size in two years by feeding them tetra ruby and mosquito larva.

That poor betta surely you have a 10 gallon laying around. They don’t do well in huge tanks with large fish and heavy water flow. Plus how does he eat with fast moving angels. He needs a small tank with plants he can rest on.😞

Has this been successful yet? My buddy was breeding black selects and had one come out with red fins, he went crazy trying to get another one so he could line breed but has yet to get another after 6 years

Well, I think Stefan is right with his comment about origin of Dantums. My german wholesaler at this time told me, they are from Israel. He further told wrong, they´d hybrids between Altum & Scalare. Little comment to your Santa Isabel. I´d give lots of humins and Catappa Leaves to them. pH not more than 6,5. Make sure they get enough plant food, like algae-flakes&Co. As result you get scalare with higher fins and better colour. It seems to me, your Santa Isabel get a big body due to fins. A little overnutrition can be a reason for this too.
