What beautiful changes and movement

Many colors on Marc's palette. Wonderful playing.

Some 40 years ago, I would go to the Washington Hilton to hear Marc play solo piano. We've all heard pianists at Hotels, but this was more like listening to a musical composite of Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett and Bill Evans, all subsumed into a unique voice that was all his own. Marc's touch at the piano and palette of harmonic colors is without equal.

Marc I was lucky to learn about the big and small of music for music sake, as your step-son. You said once, to never stop being on the receiving side of music. This piece of music here really echos this and thanks forever for instilling that and other mindful abilities in my struggle to play.

Superbe hommage de ce grand et subtil pianiste à son ami John Abercrombie, grand et subtil guitariste, disparu voici 3 ans déjà, avec lequel il a enregistré plusieurs albums en duo ou trio (avec Kenny Wheeler, trompettsite trop ue connu) .

I was so lucky to see Mr.Copland live at Smoke in Manhattan with John Abercrombie promoting the 39 Steps album (which is a GREAT album imho) and wow can this man play. The whole band was remarkable, but your chord voicing were so lush and sublime. I know one can't Monday morning quarterback their life, but I have been practicing/playing/gigging for so long as a serious hobby, and and I know I will never play at a level anywhere near Mr.Copland. While it tears a tiny bit of my soul out every time I fall short of the level I wish I could play at, I take solace in having enough ability to truly hear and recognize a wonderful musician.

I studied with Marc, it had to be in the 80's. A musical phenomena. He didn't teach me music, he taught me how I learn music, from sound to structure. I'm still playing and loving every minute of it.

I was so fortunate to study with Marc many years ago when I lived in the DC area. I still draw on the techniques he taught me and pass them on to my students. So happy to be able to hear him play again.

I think Marc is one of the most interesting and creative pianists playing today. His wonderful solo music speaks for itself but his playing in groups is also enthralling and exciting-a truly great jazz musician.

Marc is a really fine pianist-incredibly original and always creative. In some respects his approach reminds me of Paul Bley. At any rate, after a late start with the piano Marc has emerged as one of the most interesting pianists playing today. I love this tune!
